The soft, fully furred body stretched out to its max capacity. A yawn escaped the feline with a show of pearly whites and rough tongue as paws stretched and spread out, claws exposing themselves before finally retracting as the cat relaxed. Shaking his head, Magnus heaved a content sigh as his tail resumed a straight up position, the tip of it hooking downward as he gazed around the back room. It was quiet as usual for the early morning, but the cashmere had opted to go in search of some breakfast. This morning that entailed chasing down any mice that dared to make their homes among the small crevices of the tents. So far, he’d been unsuccessful, but he wasn’t in much of a hurry. A full breakfast would be delivered to him later on anyway. This was more of a game for him and a wonderful way to wake up in the morning.
Whiskers twitching, Magnus prowled over to a few chests that looked like promising places for prey to hide. His fluffy tail flagged behind him as he peered into the dim light between the chests, likely full of costumes, props and other odds and ends. Something caught his eye. Though it certainly didn’t look like breakfast Magnus was curious.
Reaching a paw between the two chests, the cat reached far with his paw. Fishing around he tried to locate the item of interest but his reach, even shoved up against his shoulder, wasn’t enough. How frustrating. His tial lashed as he sat there in front of the crack debating his options. He wanted whatever it was back there, especially since it was shiny, glowing, and pretty looking. Of course he’d want it. Who wouldn’t want it? Magnus was determined to claim his little treasure before someone else came along.
Turning, the feline walked over to a nearby table. Below it, he studied where he wanted to go, butt wiggling in the process, before he launched himself upwards. There he found exactly when he was hoping to find, fabric. In fact, it looked like pieces of a costume that was being sewn together, but he didn’t care. Sifting through the pieces of cloth he picked the largest one he could find and comfortably maneuver before nabbing it in his teeth and departing back over to the chests where his prize lay.
Jumping on top of them he draped the fabric between them, making sure to hold onto one end, he leapt off and roughly tugged the fabric. The main idea was to pull whatever it was closer to him so he could reach it. His first attempt failed though, and it took several more attempts and adjustments of speed and cloth length to finally nudge his little treasure close enough that toe beans could encircle it and drag it out.
Unveiling the prize from between fluffy toe, beans revealed a glowing blue stone. It was small, interesting to look at and something Magnus was pretty sure had belonged to one of the resident fortune tellers. Had being the keyword, because in Magnus’s opinion, after all of that work he put into it, it was now his. Besides, what was the chance whoever it was that lost it would even note it missing?
With a feline grin Magnus pawed at the little gem before reaching down to grab carefully between teeth. Dainty paws quickly carried him to the exit of the back room. He knew exactly where he needed to hide this little treasure. It would look lovely amongst the other shiny baubles he had amassed since working in the circus.
