EARLY CHILDHOOD Karina was born to a French wizard and a muggle woman from England, in Canterbury, 2030. While her father often raved about Beauxbatons, it had always been known that Rina would attend Hogwarts, since that was where she grew up. Up until her first year at Hogwarts, Rina was home-schooled, and learned all of the necessary subjects: Both English and French with a smattering of Latin (for spellcasting, they told her), Mathematics, British history, and basic Science, on her mother's insistence. "Science is the muggles' equivalent of magic," she explained one day when her daughter asked why she had to learn it. "It is how we understand the world." Her father agreed, and said that she would have plenty of time to learn about magic when she got to Hogwarts.

And, while it wasn't a formal lesson, Rina would often sing with her mother while she helped her cook in the kitchen, two things that she greatly enjoyed doing.

During her whole tenth year, Rina couldn't stop thinking about Hogwarts and the adventure that lay ahead with much excitement and anticipation. Though she knew that she would miss the time she got to spend with her parents, she also knew that she would probably be too distracted by all of the new things she would learn to get too homesick.
