(( SSBrosB and I are combining prompts 7 & 9 from Living Quarters ))

Quote:
It's your turn to light all the candles around the living quarters to make sure you can all see where you're going. You can't find any matches, which is annoying, because you just had them like, two seconds ago. Didn't you? Maybe you should retrace your steps...except you can't seem to remember where to start. Where did you come from?

For a few seconds, you have an almost overwhelming sense of nostalgia and wistfulness for - someone. Something. Somewhere. Where? Who? What? Nothing that's here. Nothing that's around you. Not the circus. Not that, because it's not - oh, someone's talking to you, you should get ready for your next performance!

Izobel had rushed back from the main tent where she and Cynthia had been practicing on their routine in order to find the tenser bandages that she kept in their tent. Her gaze swept back and forth as she passed through the flaps. The tent was pitch dark and Izobel tried to push past the eerie sensation of wandering around blind as a bat before pulling her head back out of the tent in time to see Cynthia heading towards her. The redhead sighed before glancing at her friend. "I thought you were going to light the candles before leaving," her voice trailed off. There was mild reproof in her statement as she had yet to forget when she needed to bring light to the interior of the tent.

Pursing her lips Izobel glanced to the darkened tent once more before she glanced to Cynthia, "I can't see."

Izobel wasn't sure if the bandages could be located at least not in the dark. Darkness or not those bandages needed to be found. Her sigh was loud. Would it be a good idea to start searching while Cynthia provided the light necessary?

Cynthia had followed Izobel back, but unfortunately it was completely dark! "Oh shoot! I forgot to light the candles! Sorry Izobel! I need to go and find the matches!" She said, wandering off a bit in the direction she thought she remembered them being in. However, as she looked around she suddenly felt... like she didn't belong. As if she had accidentally broken in instead of having lived there. She... she should have been somewhere else. She had been in the stands... she was nervous... what was going on? Something wasn't right, and a chill ran down her spine. Her gut was telling her something was wrong, but she had been in the circus for a while now. Right?

She wandered around a bit, not calling Izobel's name. She had forgotten it. She didn't know any Izobel. She had come with someone else... one of the other performers...

Cynthia shook her head, and suddenly everything was 'right' again. She knew where the matches were, and Izobel was her friend! She quickly ran over to them and started to light a few of the lights. "Sorry! Just had to remember where they were!" She said, trying to give the other a cheerful response, and trying to forget the awful feeling that was nagging at her.

After a few seconds after the apology that Cynthia bestowed upon her Izobel watched as her friend went around trying to find the matches in order to light the interior of the tent. She couldn't figure out why her friend would have forgotten where the matches were kept and yet as she tried to duck inside their shared tent she could swear that they were right where they'd been left only at the beginning of the day. Running her hands absently over the small dresser that she knew from experience sat to the right of the entrance Izobel frowned with uncertainty. The matches were not there but more importantly there was something that just seemed off.

For a moment it was like Izobel was remembering something and it was important. She saw a small, hazy image of the big tent as if she'd been sitting in the stands only for the image to dissolve as a feeling of wrongness crept up on her. She wasn't supposed to be back here, was she? Surely that must be incorrect. The redhead shook her head back and forth before the unusual sensation passed. Slowly she pushed forward into the tent as she saw the first of their lights spark into life. Cynthia must have found the matches after all. The teen debated whether or not to mention the feeling she'd had before shrugging it off. Why worry her routine partner even more? Grabbing the tenser bandages that she had been looking for originally Izobel pushed past the flaps and out into the open. Seconds later she was wrapping her left wrist up and held the pins to fasten the bandage out in her right palm. "Hey Cynthia, a little help? You always secure these better than I can."

Cynthia quickly lit all of the lights, making sure she didn't miss a single one. She had done this before right? How couldn't she have? She had all the memories of doing it. Maybe it was just the darkness getting to her. Yeah, that had to have been it. It definitely wasn't the feeling that she actually had no idea what she was doing and didn't know where she was! Definitely not that!

She gave herself a small mental pat-on-the-back as soon as she had lit the last one, making sure to put the matches back where they were supposed to be. Definitely would remember those next time! Though it was a bit hard since they rotated duties so often. One would think she would have had it memorized by now, but maybe she was just forgetful?

But… she didn't remember herself being like that…

Cynthia shook her head, and heard Izobel asking for help and quickly went over to bandage the other girl. "Sure thing!" She said, and sat down next to Izobel, grabbing the bandages and getting ready to bandage that arm! … Any second now. Any second the memories would come rushing back in on how she bandaged the arm correctly.

Any second now.

Okay, now she was starting to panic for a bit. She didn't remember ever having to do this with anyone and really had no idea how to. She didn't want Izobel to know though, but considering the giant pause that was now coming from Cynthia, the other was probably growing a bit suspicious.

Cynthia shook her head once again, and the memories came flooding back, and she quickly finished wrapping Izobel up. "All done!" She said, trying to give the other a smile without making it look like she was completely nervous.

Izobel managed to hide the wince from the bandages being tightened around her arm. Cynthia was still the best one she could fix the bandages so that they would not fall off mid-routine. Pulling her sleeves down to hide the bandages Izobel frowned as the strange feeling once more washed over her. What exactly was she doing in the performers section of the circus? The momentarily sensation of not-belonging faded as soon as she realized what it was but Izobel wasn't certain things were as cut and paste as it seemed. Was she really a part of the circus? Was something else amiss here? Her mind was foggy over the details.

Smiling back towards Cynthia the red-head held up her bandaged wrist and flexed it experimentally. "Thanks Cyn, you are a lifesaver. I think we gotta get back else that tyrant we work for will get on our cases again. Are we good now?"

Izobel watched where Cynthia laid the matches down because she would need to make sure that she could find them after the performance.

Cynthia always made sure that the bandages were just right whenever she helped Izobel. They couldn't afford going to the doctor all the time, so if the injuries healed badly because of Cynthia and her skills she would have felt guilty about it forever.

Again, there was a sudden feeling. Like she didn't actually know what she was doing. That she didn't ever change bandages for anyone... but she had to know, right? She was doing it right now!

She sighed. "No problem. And yes, you're good to go!" She said, giving the other a tired thumbs-up and standing up fully. "Let's go. I'll race you back there if you want!" Cynthia said, already creeping her way towards the front of the tent and back to the main area.
