Role: Head Inquisitor for the Angel King
Best Trait: Surprisingly Truthful. While not one to just give away information, Aug always tells the truth, if you ask the right questions.
Worst Trait: Her complete lack of remorse. She doesn't feel bad about what she does or stealing for knowledge.
Good Habit:Very Clean and Thorough. Her personal hygiene is possibly even better than that of the most pompous angel. She's entirely willing to forego this for her job though.
Bad Habit: She's made a point of stealing to better herself. Mostly books to further her magic, but it wouldn't be unlikely that most of her belongings were stolen from other witches.
Abilities:
✦Blood Magic +++ - [Moderately powerful for a self taught witch. This is by far Aug's most used/useful ability. Their torture technique is relatively reliant on it.]
✦Shadow Walking ++ - [It would not be wrong to say Aug's success as a thief was due entirely to being able to navigate the dark. It's not uncommon for them to just suddenly appear from shadows around the palace.
✦Lightning Manipulation + - [Aug's command of Lightning is flighty and fleeting at best. They have been able to weave up spells to store the energy for use as crude batteries though. ]
✦EXPERIMENTAL: Bone Magic - [Specialized Blood Magic with primary focus on the use of marrow-heavy bones. Fresh are best, but bone meal is easily reconstructed with the addition of blood. Possible battery?]

Bio: Augustine's childhood was not an easy one and they rather prefer to keep it blocked out. What does come easily to mind is living in a human barn until they were old enough to walk. They quickly took up with a group of urchins and followed them from city to city. They learned they were part witch the first time they were attacked by a vampire. Another witch saved them, taking them in and sorta teaching them for a year or two, just until the buds of Aug's horns appeared. They were quickly shunned. The poor crossbreed fled in the night, taking several tomes on blood magic with them in a hard leather bag. They came to Oshuku knowing it would be the safest from vampires and the easiest pickings for money.
Several years after their arrival in the city, they'd established them-self as head of a gang of street urchins. These kids were the greatest source of stolen goods the city had ever seen. Augustine was able to step back and focus more on magic, but after so many years, the pilfered books were threadbare and faded. There was a place they knew they could get the supplies to transcribe them, make them pretty again. The Royal Library. Their greatest heist yet.
So here they are, in the shadows of the grand library, copying the spells and incantations, when out of nowhere, they're exposed. And who else to find them but the King himself. The angel looked ready to kill them on spot. Aug still doesn't know what stopped him that day. Regardless, he seemed curious why they were there. Being honest as they are, Augustine gave him the truth, 'My books are all I have. I can't lose them to time." They sat there for a while, the old king and the ragged crossbreed, discussing things, Aug being very specific in mentioning the children that followed them. The night passed like that. When they were done, he offered them a place in the palace staff. It was an unconventional job to start, mostly them spying on courtiers whose loyalty could be doubted. Over the stretch of 30 years, it evolved into more torture and less spying, Aug adapting such an efficient and signature style.
Surprising enough, Augustine didn't find out the alignment of their demon parent until they'd made it to roughly 48 years in the King's service. A terrible electrical storm had touched down in the city and Aug found they could catch the lightning in the air and manipulate it. They were amazed at this new found ability, weak as it was.
Up until 70 years ago, Aug's being in the palace was kept officially under wraps. When it was realized that the entirety of the rest of the staff not only knew they were there, but that people were going to them for things, they were put on the official manifest.
When Nathaniel rose to power, Augustine was surprised the new king let them keep their job. Granted, some restrictions were placed on the half-breed, like how they have to make sure prisoners don't "accidentally" died while they work.
Personality: Something about making a living through deliberately hurting others shifts a person. Augustine can be seen as crude, blunt, and extremely uncaring. It wouldn't be untrue. The thing is, if you look at their work, the precision with which they dismember suspects, the diligence paid to their studies, and the careful attention cleanliness, you'd see there's some good to be noticed. You can trust Aug to put out the results you need and to keep your secret to their dying breath. You'd see someone so eager to better them self they wont stop practicing until its right. The thorough grooming betraying an unspoken pride in appearance and "art". If you truly watched, you'd notice Augustine analyzing other people, internalizing the little things. They're trying to be kinder, trying to be less coarse. It just takes a while, in Aug's case, many decades.
