The years since the VIIth's failure to flatten or seiuze Eorzea were certainly interesting to the young Garlean. She's survived Bahamut again, just barely, and seeing the monster tyhat killed everyone she loved in Bozja in person, pulling as many fellow members of the VIIth to safety as possible was sombering -- to look into eyes so full of anger and hatred as to send chills down her spine, but to tell the tale? Well. If she could find Gaqrlond or get to Gyr Abania she'd happily have bought a pint and told that story, and several more, not caring who listened. Those that listened were the sa-- natives. One did not escape the Dreadwyrm twice unscathed, let alone once, and once seeing to the others, Siv had pulled herself to the Shroud hoping for herbs to heal herself, and was taken in by a local Miqo'te village. Since, she'd slowly accustomed to the realm, and learned to make a place in it for herself and her adopted family. She didn't forget Garlemald -- but she didn't seek to destroy further. In a way, her desire for Dalamud was ended when Bahamut disappeared -- likely defeated by an Eorzean champion. So she'd put her martial talents to work as an adventurer when her sister from another mister left to study the black arts, and Siv? Well. Her father Nero had furnished her with a good weapon when she enlisted like him, and she was putting it to use making a good, honest name for herself serving as an adventuerer for hire. It wasn't pretty, but being a Garlean in full armor meant her se3curity work was second to none -- her basic grip of magitek, entirely untrained since enlisting, helpful, and her hope of safely finding out where her father from Garlemald was all but assured if she could just track down the blastyed Ironworks. But today? Today was a day a wealthy lalafell in Costa (Gegeruju? She didn't really pay attention) hired her to snoop on some Garlean reports in the area. A former, known member of the Empire and pure blood was less likelyto be killed, and she gladly welcomed a chance to interrogatye some regulars as to where Nero Tol Scaeva was and, if she was lucky, send him missive she was alive. So, when she finally heard voices on the ridge overlooking a Kobold sacred site known as The Navel were heard, theGarleansquared up her shoulders, wearing her brown and copper armor with pride, clenched her warhammer, and approached with the ease of one who wasn't at all bothered by the location. "Well what's all this racket then?? The savages in the artea are making a ruckus about seeing soldiers." She drawled. 'Savage' didn't feel right to say, but she had to act 'stranded' - unhappily at that.

Titan's readings had been... better than Ifrit's, really, but nowhere near the level of power Nero had been hoping for, if he were to be honest with himself. For all their lauded strength, Eorzea's eikons were naught to be concerned over, if this was all they could bring to bear against the empire. Ridiculous and hardly worth his time at all, these Eikons. How could he ever showcase his work and outshine Garlond if this was all he had to conquer? Though - he frowned, suddenly, and jerked to peer at the figure in brown-and-copper armor approaching. He knew that voice, but he hadn't seen her since - No. She would have worked out how to get back to Garlean territory if she had lived. Gyr Abania Hells, Gaius had been overlooking Carteneau! So what was this - this mockery doing?

No answer. Well that was to be expected, and Siv didn't really domuch, but her gaze was shifting faintly, watchimng the Eikon with a distinct feeling of anxiety. The think could turn on them at any time, and the Garlean woman twitched finally, hand shifting to grip her hammer with an air of anxiety. It wasnm't her own people she was afraid of - it was the eikon. Tempering was the last thing she wanted, and the young woman soon turned her gaze back to Nero before actually processing, and in a fluid motion her helmet came off, yes wide in surprise. "...Father?" Siv finally lether voice crack, but didn't draw near. "Father why are you near Titan? Do you know what that thing would do if it caught wind of either one of us?!" Because if she had to watch her father tempered... Just [kill her, kobolds!

Nero ignored the questions, focusing instead on staring at a face he thought long-since dead. "You died," he said, feeling the words come out as if a bit distantly. "You, and Garlond and damn near everyone else who was in range of that mess. How - how the hells are you standing here, now?" Not that he was complaining, of course - he was just in something of a state of shock, disappointment in Eorzea's eikons or no. Belatedly, he did realize her questions probably were worth answering, and so he shrugged. "Working on a project for the XIVth," he said, and normally he would be more proud but right now he wanted to make certain he wasn't dealing with a ghost.

Redbud-Tree Nero ignored the questions, focusing instead on staring at a face he thought long-since dead. "No, my commander died calling down Dalamud." Siv replied, then bowed. "I was lucky and managed to not get killed trying to evacuate some of the others from the unit." Then she sighed, shaking her head. With her reason to flee to Gyr Abania directly in front of her, all pretense was gone and she sagged. "I almost died but made it to the Shroud... Somehow. Some of the Eorzean natives took me in as one of their own, so I've been working to repaythem." Then she motioned, scowling. "I'm not sure if Garlond is dead. After Bahamut burned things to hell I saw the Enterprise moving away from Cartyeneau towards a region called Coerthaqs. Some of his companions survived to work on his company here, so if they're alive, we can hope he is somewhere. I haven't tried looking. I was considering if you were anybody else forcing them to pass you a missive, though. I haven't found a way to Garlean Territory. Lord Baelsar's Wall is too much even for me to cross, with the way Carteneau ended up." The Garlean then sighed, and moved to hug the Tribunus tightly as she tugged yhim back some. "It's a bad idea to be studying Eikons this close, Father. They steal the souls of those they can and bend them to slavery -- many of their so-called tempered love to bring more worshippers to them that way." A fair warning, truly, and she frowned. "And I don't think either of us wants the kobolds finding us."

"If he were alive, he would be doing something," Nero bit out, looking torn between frustration and pain, then sighed and returned Siv's hug, trying very hard not to give away that he was on the verge of crying. He'd lost everyone to that damned moon, (speaking to Garlond or not), and to have one of them back... Well, it was almost enough to distract him from his project. "I'll never get decent readings from farther away," he said, holding up his meter and grinning. "And this realm won't need to worry about its damned Eikons for too much longer, not with what I'm working on." He grinned proudly and stepped back, offering his adoptive daughter a hand. "Come back with me, and I'll let you see my new toy~."

"He could be crippled too. I thinkI tried looking. Ironworks officially declared him missing." The younger Garlean held up her magitek arm to remind the elder of her own handicap, and perked. A project? To help Eorzea? The girl lit up, taking his hand immediately. Much as she knew Garlemald wanted the city-statews,maybe she could curry enough to gain them enough autonomy to be safe, welcomed members of the Empire. "An end to the Eikons protects someone who calls me sister. I'm in, in any way I can help, Daddy." Siv said, taking the hand with the grip of someone determined. "I can even round up some of the VIIth to helpo you, if you want."

"Don't," Nero said, eyes widening at the thought. "I don't want to think about him unable to create." Especially without him there to help the other man overcome whatever-it-was that could have crippled him. "I can't outdo Garlond if Garlond can't do his own work," he said, frowning, "That's almost as terrible as the idea of him being dead. I suppose if he is well just have to find him and build whatever he needs, and then he would have to admit he needs my expertise." ... a silly plan, a wishful thought, but... damn it, Nero missed that idiot, and he really didn't want him to be dead. But Garlond was a thought for another time, and instead he took Siv's hand in his own and started leading her away. "Come on then - you'll need to meet the lovely thing. It's a relic of ancient allag, designed to deal with Eikons: the notes dug up along with it called it the ultima weapon..."

"But Dad, if he is, he might need help if nobody can find him." Siv followed gladly, unwilling to let him give up on Garlond's survival, and she rubbed his fingers soothingly. "Ultima Weapon? I never heard about that in Bozja. Just someplace called Syrcus. It came up a lot in Dalamud's readings -- and I might have found it fatyher! It was near Carteneau, and when I was escaping, Bahamut was upsetting the land and a large tower thqat's very clearly Allagan construct was rising. So who knows what else there is!" Siv was lighting with excitement. With her father, the mysterious tower was in the reach of science -- ttue, unabolished science, and she knew JUST the teams to suggest! While she may have been a child when Bozja was destroyed, she was not one to forget easily -- not Dalamud. Not the research done, not with her father so interested and in an encouraging environment learning -- even getting good school pre-military -- she was eager to reach for something she wanted to see. The learn herself, and maybe find answers too. For now, she was eager, gripping his hand with the excitement of a child. "Oh! Father, do you think she'll like us? Will it work well? Can I help? Or..." Then she seemed thoughtful, firmly following Nero as she moved. "Or maybe I should check on the crash of Garlond's airship after I meet your new lady? The poor thing is in Coer4thas. Maybe if Garlond is gone, he'll be with her. Which means if he's not..." THEN she lit up. "Then we know he's somewhere and he needs you." And Siv WASN'T letting her father give up hope -- not when he'd given her so much, including a future.

"I can't drop my work to go chasing ghosts," Nero said, shaking his head."You could, if you wished, but I have to finish my project." A tribunus laticlavius had work that needed to be done, and he was going to prove himself superior to Garlond at last, or die in the attempt. There was no in-between left, not any more. He was not going to settle for 'almost as good as Garlond' any longer. "She'll work beautifully, of course - I'm building her. But I do need to take readings so that I can judge the best approach to capturing the things. Though honestly, I can't think it will be hard, so far the eikons summoned have been disappointing."

"I know." Siv sighed, but held his hand, still following. "I don't know my standing legally, though, since technically you can make sure that I'm registered as living. But. I'm just a regular, so if I had orders to investigate..." Subtle, yes, but she wanted him happy. "And, father,, I just want to help. I have decent standing here and the realm isn't unreasonable. Or savage. They value merits more than even half of the Empire." She motioned with her free hand, then lit up. "IO know why the Eikons are weakened, too. Local efforts to make them less threatening. Father, please, let me help do something!"

"You're not a part of the XIVth, Siv," Nero said, frowning. "But I'll see what I can do about a transfer." He shook his head and frowned. "I suppose I'm lad they're undermining them, but undermining won't stop them, nor will it let me prove the might of my project. I need something with decent readings to take down, else my project won't be enough." He had to surpass Garlond in everyone's eyes, or it would mean nothing. Surely Siv would be able to understand that, if she just thought about it long enough? NovaCracker He literally doesn't care about the conquest he just wants to prove his toy the Best

"More reason I can work while your on official business, father." Siv's eyes flashed, the young soldier beaming. While unsure about his need to out-do Garlond, she did[/i=] listen to rumor and the girl looked Nero in the eyes.
"I've been seeing the Ixal increase activity in the North Shroud in reaction to seeing things -- they appear to be preparing to summon Garuda, and, the Alliance hasn't seen the activity. It's an untampered Eikon, father." Siv rubbed her nose, then, eyes locking.
"According to local folktales Garuda is the Lady of Vortices -- a master of wind. If you arrive early enough for readings, if Lord Baelsar wants to see what Allag could truly unleash, she's your best target, unless you provoked the Sahagin into a summoning. And given timing, it's more likely Garuda would be a target the Alliance will appreciate taken out. Garuda's known to be unpredictyable, violent, and her masses equally so. There's your best target Father." Siv bowed, thenn, wild -- and proud. "And Garlond won't be around to show youup with a toy in time either -- if I know the tempered Ixali, if he gets close, you might even rescue him!" And surely Garlond's praise might make her father feel better?

"Garuda, hm?" Nero asked, looking thoughtfully up at the sky as he considered the information his daughter had given him. "Well, that could certainly prove useful. I'll let you take on your search, Siv, if you truly wish to do that... but on the condition you come and see the Ultima weapon first." He had his priorities, after all, and those priorities included showing off his glorious toy.... And alright, maybe he still didn't believe Garlond could actually still be out there. But he didn't want to admit that to Siv.

" Excuse me Daddy, but I should hope I got to see Ultima Weapon anyhow. I love seeing what you make!" Siv responded, sounding absolutely hurt he thought she wouldn't want to see. "So you'd better have it ready for me to see some action before I go looking!" The girl then giggled, hugging the Tribunus tightly. "I always love what you make. I don't even trust anyone to replace my arm." Siv admitted, and raised it, pumping a fist and winking. Still, even seeing the Weapon then didn't prepare her for a completed demonstration. The Garlean had tracked Cid down once in Coerthas in company of some teenaged elezen and Kaida, and had easily joined the party acting on part act part fact, the Regular employed herself to them... Sticking quite near Cid to keep him safe, bar a skirmish with the Elezen boy. Arriving directly in the Howling Eye was still unsettling -- moreso when Garuda made threat to temper them all and her hammer was quick to come out -- save the timely arrival of van Baelsar and Ultima Weapon to absorb all three eikons. Only then was she able to touch base with Nero by radio, and was all but sussed out -- Kaida and Cid had noticed and the talking to was... Stern -- at least until she calmed both explaining herself. Her priority was their safety -- and Eoirzea -- and it did aught but get her eared and hauled around even to the Praetorium -- only because while Castrum Meridianum was being attacked, Siv made it to Nero, and threw herselfg into her father promptly to huddle, hiding her face in him. The robed man was using her father and his unit and she still wanted everything okay and. And. A soft wail was all she could make, burying herself in Nero quite firmly. "Dad. Dad I tried. I messed up I'm sorry." Siv cried, clinging. what had she failed? EVERYONE, and she resumed making pained noises, quite similar to those after Bozja, really. "Everyone thinks I'm bad for trying to moderate and I got found out and -- And Garlond hates me he might not wanna be my friend now!" And that BOTHERED her on some odd level. She never missed how her father spoke of the man -- gruff but with an undertone of affection. But still the gruffness of exasperation, and she whimpered. "I'm sorry."
