Quote: You see something sticking out from underneath one of the cots. As you bend to grab it, you discover that it's a short length of aerial rope. Weird that it's in here...oh, well (+1 length of aerial rope, multiple people can get this) Orah came to a stop and peered around the inside of the shared tent with a bit of a frown. She felt... vague all of a sudden, like those times you enter a room and forget why you came in there. She was pretty sure she had been doing something until just a moment ago, and that she was supposed to be doing something else, but the threads slipped through her fingers even as she tried to hold them.
The tent was a familiar space, warm and comfortable. She'd been here a few years now, and in that time, the three of them had learned how to coexist without driving each other nuts in the small space that lacked real privacy. Cloth walls and all that. Orah glanced towards her corner where her cot sat, thick blankets neatly folded across it and her clothes trunk at the foot. There was not a lot of sentimental things on display, but with how much they moved, it was hard to keep things like that. Some pictures on a string, pinned to the outer wall. A stuffed rabbit a friend had won for her at a carnival game...
The low lighting of the tent at night cast everything in a comfortable dimness, the faerie lights she'd stung up around her cot sparkling. She might have missed it, without those lights, or if it had been day time with harsher shadows. The shine of something under her cot where there shouldn't be anything shining caught her eyes and the young assistant crouched down to get a better look. A length of rope lay coiled there, loops of metal at the ends when she picked it up and pulled it.
Aerial rope? The tent consisted of a magican and assistant, with a handwalker. There was no reason for this to be in here, and under her cot in particular? Orah wondered if someone had dropped it and she had... somehow just not noticed when she set up her stuff. How odd.
Everything felt a little odd though. The tent, what she had been doing, this rope... she couldn't peg down any of it, but the feeling lingered, tugging at her.

When you had feelings of unease, it was best just to avoid them. Or at least that was what Nick told himself. All the time. Sure it might not be the most practical solution, but it was the best solution if you didn’t want to bring on headaches and unhappy thoughts.
There were several things that Nick loved about working at the circus, three of which he visited on a regular basis, and the other one was his husband, who was lovely.
Though...perhaps the most lovely of his treasures was Orah, a magican’s assistant and a stunning girl. He enjoyed going to spend time with her as often as was possible, and even now stuck his head into her tent, grinning rather wickedly as his eyes landed on what she had in her hands. “Knock knock, princess. Did you miss me?”
He moved into the tent, glancing around, pleased that she was alone. Though…
Nick shook off the doubt with nothing more than a flick of his head. Don’t think.
“What on earth are you doing with that rope, my precious Orah? Did you think we could have some fun or something? I mean, I don’t see any issue with that.” The animal trainer flashed a grin, moving over and wrapping his arms loosely around the darker haired girl, moving to place a light kiss on her neck.
“You naughty thing.”

"Nick!" Orah gasped out as she jumped up from her crouch. She was tempted to hide the rope behind her back like an errant child, but that was just silly... she had no idea why it was there, and thus no reason to feel like she was doing something wrong. Which she wasn't.
"I was, um... getting ready to go find Lilith." It was the best she could come up with on short notice, watching the blonde stroll into the tent with that... terrible grin on his face. A grin that made her stomach flutter and her cheeks go pink.
Of course she had missed him. It wasn't like she got to have him exclusively to herself, so the times she could actually get his focused attention were not an every day occurrence. Arias claimed most of it, as was his right as the husband, but there was practice for the shows, time spent traveling, other people they both owed time to... Having him alone in her tent for a while was a treat she always wanted to savor, and now was no different, even if he had OF COURSE started things off with getting her flustered.
She suspected he enjoyed seeing it on her.
"I'm not doing anything!" Orah protested as he reached for her, her blush deepening at his indecent suggestion. Despite her indignation at being teased, her hand slipped up his chest to curl in the fabric of his shirt. "I wouldn't even... know what to do with it..."
The kiss zinged down her nerves and left a flush of warmth behind, further disconcerting her and making it even harder to hold onto a calm, even keel around her sometimes-lover. Smug man. He's always like this. Not that she would change him, really. His easy confidence and playful nature were some of the things she loved most about him.

Nick chuckled softly in her ear. “You might not know what to do with it, but I surely would.” The words were playful, but there was a touch of…something to them. A hunger? A deep desire? Of course though, there normally was when Orah was concerned. She had rocked him to his core when he had first seen her, like some lovely fantasy girl stepped out of a storybook…and he had wanted her from then.
The courtship hadn’t been difficult. Winning Orah hadn’t been difficult…but getting Arias’s permission had been. He hadn’t liked the idea…but they were all about being open with their thoughts and desires and he had appreciated that Nick was telling him what he was doing this time…so it had been allowed to continue.
Even though Nick had tried to be discrete, people had talked. When you lived so close to one another…sometimes gossip was all you had to go on…but Nick didn’t really care personally…Orah was a treasure who was more than worth it.
“How are you doing, my lovely maiden? I’m sure that Lilith wouldn’t mind if you were a few minutes late to find her…or even more than a few minutes if you were interested…” He laughed again, his teeth finding her earlobe and tugging on it gently. “It’s been too long since we’ve spent any time together…”
There was one of those annoying flashes of doubt, of confusion again, and Nick firmly ignored it. There couldn’t be any doubting this. Orah was in his arms, firmly in his arms, she was as real as a summer day. There was nothing wrong.

Her eyes half closed as Orah leaned into his firm body, letting him enfold her. It felt good, but more than that, there was a sense of anticipation too. It came from the way he had kissed her throat, and then the way he took her earlobe between his teeth, his breath hot on her skin.
Oh... dear... He knew the buttons to push. Terrible man. She could never really say no to him, even when she knew better.
There was no guarantee the tent was going to stay empty for long. She had no idea where the others had gone or when they'd be back. They could walk in any moment, find them... Arias would probably be annoyed again, everyone involved embarrassed. Except Nick, of course. But she still couldn't bring herself to tell him to stop.
Her hand left his shirt to slip up to the back of his neck, threading into the long strands of blonde near his scalp. Maybe if they were quick...
Orah felt... something. A creeping sense of wrongness. She'd been feeling it since she found herself in the tent, but it was nagging at her. Again she wondered how she'd gotten here, what she was supposed to be doing. Nothing felt right, suddenly. The tent, her act, these clothes... Nick's mouth on her skin. It wasn't right. She wasn't right... and she couldn't explain why.
Orah squirmed and pulled back, releasing her hold to splay her fingers across his chest again.
"Wait. I don't... I feel weird about this. Something's wrong. I'm not supposed to be here." She said, a frown pulling her brows together. His arms felt familiar, but different. She remembered... a flash of gold eyes and pearl hair. Someone. She couldn't remember, exactly. An apartment? She'd never lived in apartment... but that was wrong too. Everything she thought was hers didn't feel like hers any more... "You're not supposed to be here... We're not. Do you know what I mean? I can't explain it... I don't understand."

Nick gave a soft sigh as he felt Orah pulling away, it wasn’t what he wanted to be feeling, but he let her go even as he wanted to pull her back, giving a soft pout. “What’s wrong, flower? What’s going on?” Things didn’t feel…that strange to him. No stranger than normal. Though, not that he was thinking. He had his strange moments earlier and…
And now just didn’t seem the time.
The pout on his face grew a little as his mind continued to process what she was saying and his arms came up, covering his chest.
“If that’s how you feel though, that’s fine…I can go.” He still had a headache. He still didn’t really…feel good but. But now he only felt worse. She didn’t think he was supposed to be here. Not with her.
The tent gave a mighty lurch suddenly and with a soft grunt, Nick closed his eyes and took a step back from the dark haired girl and shook his head.
“Okay fine. I’ll…see you later, Orah. Maybe…I don’t…” He didn’t want them to be over. He loved her but…
But if she thought he didn’t belong here…he wouldn’t continue to stick around. Quietly, the blonde took a quick few steps out of the tent, wanting to get back to his own before his head and his heart began to hurt any worse.
