The weather had decided to give Destiny City a taste of spring. Who knew how long it would last, but for the moment, Cybele had neither the excuse of the frigid weather that always cut through her airy fuku like nothing or piles of work or anything else to keep her inside. That meant she was out, powered up and prowling the streets, hoping to be at least a little useful for once. She was in a residential area, with plenty of apartment buildings and stores on the ground level attracting evening customers. If any youma or agents decided to target shoppers, then they would quickly enough become her targets. If she could find something to fight, then maybe she'd be able to sleep for once.

However, when she felt a Chaos aura nearby, it was not the familiar Negaverse feeling but the cold, murky gray of the Dark Mirror. She froze in the middle of the sidewalk.

Well. That was something she had not had to deal with in a while. Her old promise and her strange visions came to mind, and she considered just powering down and continuing to forget things. No. She wanted to know what was going on. She turned around and started scanning the rooftops and shadows for movement.

Mithra had decided to hang around a coffee shop late at night, trying to get her wraith some extra energy. If people noticed that they were suddenly a bit more tired, well it would be because they just really needed coffee, and they wouldn't expect anything weird. Which is why she had instructed her wraith not to go after the crowd that was hanging around in there at night, while she hung out on the rooftop to look at the stars. It was such a nice night out, she just had to enjoy it. It was too bad that spring was still so very far away. Mithra would just have to endure the cold a bit longer, and then she could finally wear some nice, comfortable clothing that wasn't sweatpants and a long-sleeved sweatshirt of some sort.

She felt the aura of a senshi nearby though, but continued to let her wraith have it's feast. After all, she could always just send it away and still have all of the energy she collected in safe. If the senshi wanted a battle then they could find one with her. The night was perfect for it after all. There was no ice they could slip on, it was just the right temperature so that if one breathed through their mouth they wouldn't get a sore throat from the cold air, etc. Mithra was actually look a bit excited for it, since White Moon senshi usually meant a fight.

There she was, up on the roof. She was fairly easy to spot, too, with all the bright colors. Cybele crossed the street and stood on the sidewalk a few feet from the cafe's wall. Getting up on the girl's level would have probably been a better choice, but Cybele did not leave ground level if she could possibly help it. She was getting better at overcoming her fear of heights in emergencies, but this would hopefully remain a causal evening.

She did notice the mirrowraith, which she didn't exactly love, but unless the Dark Mirror had started making death traps and youma like the Negaverse, it wasn't something she had too much of a problem with.

"Um, hello," she called up. She was distinctly aware that this was very awkward. "My name is Cybele. I'm," she inhaled, considering her wording. "I'm a friend, I hope."

When the senshi finally decided to reveal themselves, Mithra was ready for a fight. Her fists out, her body in a defensive stance, and in a moment it could become offensive. She didn't much like the White Moon, but they still seemed to annoyances rather than anything that really could stop her. She supposed they both had their goals, and hers wasn't exactly the greatest, but she could appreciate that the White Moon were doing what they thought was right.

She was a bit suspicious about the other senshi, who didn't seem to want to come up, and she took a bit to actually walk over to the side of the building, just in case the other senshi decided to do a sneak attack and punch her in the head as they were jumping up. This one however, seemed to want to stay down in the alley. They could have talked from here, but it would be yelling, and it would probably attract more attention than either of them wanted, so Mithra sighed and jumped down, but made sure that she was ready for any possible attacks once she landed.

The other senshi didn't move however. Now Mithra was curious. "A friend? I didn't think that the Dark Mirror and White Moon were suddenly allies." Mithra said, raising an eyebrow. "Is there a reason you're here...?" Because if it had anything to do with fighting, Mithra would be all over that. But, it's not as though she had been able to talk to a White Moon senshi without having to fight before so this should be... interesting.

Cybele was a little wary when she saw the other senshi's posture. When she dropped down from the roof, Cybele shifted into cautious stance, her feet well planted in case she needed to defend herself. Her fists stayed down, though. She was still trying to make a good impression.

"That's what I wanted to ask about, actually," she said. "I've never thought about your court as our enemies, although I know that many of the White Moon do." She gave a wry smile thinking back on the various battle's she'd seen. "I could tell you some stories but they're all from... four, five years ago?" She mentally checked her counting and then frowned because wow, she was getting old and this war was not getting any better, although she supposed she should be grateful it wasn't getting any worse.

"It's been years since I've even seen a Dark Mirror, and I was wondering about... relations, maybe? So we're enemies." Well, this was getting even weirder, although she supposed she should be more used to it considering how many Dark Mirrors seemed aggressive until she explained herself. "We can fight if you want, but I don't mind the draining. I wouldn't mind just talking to you, as well. I'm Cybele, senshi of the Hunt."

From what Mithra could see, the other senshi was definitely trying to show that she wasn't a threat. Always good to be cautious at least. Mithra thought as she mentally approved of the other's stance. Always on the ready, just in case. Mithra smiled at the other. "Actually, those stories might be interesting considering that I've been with the Dark Mirror, and well, all of this, for less than a year. I would love to know what went on in the past." It would be good to know, and the Dark Mirror seemed to be so scattered in what history they had and what they were supposed to do.

Mithra relaxed her stance and waved a hand in the air, a gesture of saying 'oh well'. "But... I would think that would be for another time. We are still enemies though, or at least that's what I know from the interactions I've had with any of the White Moon members so far. None of them have really wanted to 'talk' like you have." She replied, adding air quotes to the word talk.

Mithra waved her hand again. "No no, as much as I would love to fight, I usually reserve it for perverted creeps who the police don't care about." She walked closer to the other, though when she was close enough to shake the other's hand, she stopped. "I'm Mithra, Dark Mirror Super senshi of Mantis Shrimp." She wasn't sure what else to say at the moment. "I'm not sure what has gone on your side, but we've had something happen to ours. I'm not sure if I should share it with you though. Would you be able to keep it a secret?" She wouldn't be surprised if the other blabbed about it though, it's not as if it was a huge secret. She had been told stories of what had happened to other people, heck, her boyfriend had been pulled into that mirrorspace stuff as well, but the White Moon probably didn't know the specifics of how it was caused.

So, she'd only been a senshi for less then a year and she was already walking around like she knew exactly what she was doing? Cybele focused for a moment on her aura, and yes, she was very much a Super. Did that mean that Cybele had gone from being experienced to being a veteran? It was good that the other senshi was was an adult. A younger face might have thrown Cybele into a full crisis about the whips and scorns of time.

Instead, she just sunk back against the wall with a barely audible sigh, uncurling her fists. Clearly, there were things going on in the present. Talk of secrets certainly piqued her interest, and she flashed Mithra a smile. "Oh, I can keep a secret," she said. "This kind of life sort of requires it." If it ended up being something world-threatening, she could always break her word. She had enough broken promises at this point that the thought of another didn't scare her, but she would still try.

"And, well, I suppose I could tell you some things as well." She straightened, no longer wallowing. "It's not a trade, just..." she trailed off and closed her eyes for a moment.

"The one time I saw your Court in battle, people from both the Negaverse and Order were trying to wipe it out, while people were trying to protect it, as well. That's why I've been confused. I helped then, but recently Dark Mirrors seem to immediately think I'm an enemy."

She shook her head. "Really, none of us have wanted to talk?" She was completely genuine and completely baffled.

Mithra still didn't trust this senshi fully, but the other did seem genuinely interested in talking. She kept a smirk from forming on her face as the other leaned against the wall. Though Mithra figured it was probably just from not wanting to stand in one place so long, it did give Mithra a bit of an advantage if the other decided they wanted to start anything.

She quirked one of her eyebrows as she heard about what had happened to her court. Of course, Mithra hadn't been there. She had only been a Dark Mirror senshi for less than a year, no wonder the Dark Mirror didn't trust the Negaverse. "Well, if you're so confused, then you must know that White Moon think of us as an enemy now too. Besides you I haven't met any White Moon that just wants to talk, or thinks of us as okay. I think it's because we drain energy like the Negaverse. After all, if we do the same thing, are we better than them?" Of course the Dark Mirror were better. After all, they weren't trying to end life in the universe, nor were they killers like the Negaverse seemed to brag about.

"Talking doesn't seem to be anyone's forte at this point. But sometimes giving my fists a rest is always nice." She replied, laughing a bit. Mithra looked at the senshi seriously though. "Is there anything specific you want to ask?" Mithra may or may not be truthful in her answer depending upon what t was, but this conversation was just a talk over some coffee after all.

Cybele was still holding that bit of tension between her shoulder blades the way she always did these days, knowing that things could go wrong in a matter of seconds, but for all that she was about as relaxed as she was going to get. The worst case scenario here was that she would get punched in the face. Today, she would not fail as a mentor or get her starseed eaten.

Therefore, she nodded slowly as the other senshi talked. "All right," she said. "I suppose we've been more or less enemies more often than not, but it still doesn't make sense to me." She sighed. "Really? Everyone else?" She had come to the point where she appreciated her Court, but they were still wrong about things sometimes. Often, even. "It's because of the energy draining. You're right, but you don't use it to pull nearly the same types of stunts as they do."

Unless the Dark Mirror Court was hiding a lot from them, which was entirely possible. They seemed good enough at creeping unnoticed by the other sides in the shadows. Still, it was difficult to compete with the Negaverse's sheer mass of carnage. She grimaced just thinking about it.

When asked about questions, she considered for a moment. "Hm. What about your goals? Are you still trying to get to space? That's the place where I never quite saw eye to eye with your Court." It had been years now. If they were still working on something so impossible, well, maybe she could see how all that energy they took was being wasted.

Mithra laughed a bit. It was... interesting how the two were trying to converse with each other. "I know it doesn't really make sense, but I suppose there are those who believe that the Dark Mirror are just like the Negaverse. Except I don't know of a time when we went out to create fake events to steal starseeds, or killed people for them. It's just been energy gathering so far for me, and that's enough." It really had been. She had been told about a few events by her boyfriend about what the Negaverse had done and she wondered why they weren't on the same side as the White Moon at this point. It was pretty clear that everyone but the Negaverse actually wanted life to still be there at this point. But oh well, if the White Moon wanted to waste their energy on the Dark Mirror, then they could for all she cared.

She shrugged her shoulders. "I myself don't care too much about getting into space. If other people want to explore it, that's their prerogative, but from what I've heard, there's no life out there anyway. I think it would be kind of boring to see ruins all the time, and unless we can get needed resources from other planets, then I'll leave up space exploration to the human scientists. Otherwise I feel like it's not really going to matter in the end." Call her a pessimist, but Mithra wouldn't be surprised if the human race died out pretty soon. They were way too greedy for their own good and destroying the planet they called home. If they wanted to do that then they were free to do so. She just didn't want to be there for the apocalypse.

"Right now I'm just surviving. I don't really know what my personal purpose is. Maybe finding a permanent way off this planet for starters." She said, making a bit of a grimace. "Otherwise it's just trying to enjoy it while I can and slowly watching as everyone burns it." She looked at the other senshi. "You think you and your allies could stop all of that?"

Cybele thought back to the recent circus and the way that the General there had swallowed a dozen starseeds, a dozen souls, like they were nothing at all. That thought brought her back to the first carnival, which was probably even after all these years the worst thing she'd witnessed. She could still see the bodies, and she grimaced. "Yes. They set up massacres, turn people into youma," she trailed off, trying not to go too far down that lane. "They're terrible."

She cracked a tight lipped smile. "Anyway, space. It's not what you would expect. There are actually some really beautiful things out there," she squinted, considering, "And I'm not sure how much the scientists will be able to find through the magic, but it is fairly empty. I'm not really the one to ask, though. I'm more interested in defending Earth. This is where we live. This is the best shot we have."

It was too late. She was getting emotional. "Well, we've kept the city from completely being the Negaverse's playground for a few years now. I don't know what's going to happen in the end," she said, standing back up to her full height. "I've tried just fighting for myself, though. It doesn't work." She considered bringing up the visions she'd had where she had been in the Dark Mirror Court, but that would sound strange, maybe even crazy. "You still get hurt. You still see the worst of things. You still might die, and for what?"

Mithra sighed. "The Dark Mirror aren't like that but... I don't believe that a lot of the White Moon knows the difference. I'm sure there was something more in the past to be afraid of when it came to the Dark Mirror, but as of now, we're too few in number and so far have just been going about and doing our thing. As much as I like fighting, I don't go out and start them when I'm powered. But there are a lot of senshi and knights who feel self-righteous and target me as though I'm part of the Negaverse." She was glad that she wasn't. She had heard about corrupt senshi through her boyfriend, and she would not have wanted to have all of that hair to deal with.

Mithra laughed a bit. "I'm sure there is! After all, pictures of space are quite beautiful already. I just wish... that there was more." And now she was sounding like a Disney princess. Wonderful. "It's just sort of lonely being the only ones here, with life. Though if that recent monument thing was anything to go by, there may be more life, or it just took so long that the civilization there is destroyed, and the thing only just came to us." She muttered the last part, not sure if the senshi had been there. Mithra had lost a bit of memory from the incident, mostly because she was in quite a bit of pain.

Mithra had to agree with what the other said. Which was part of the reason that Mithra refused to purify. She could purify, try and to help the world but, would it be worth it? Even if they could defeat the Negaverse, could the world really be saved afterwards? She doubted it. Humans were too greedy. "Well, I suppose there's no use worrying about it. You can only do so much. Maybe if the White Moon actually got toghether and decided to do something, they might be able to defeat the Negaverse. From what I've heard, you guys are pretty scattered still. But, I can't say that it would work. Better than being all alone." She stretched a bit, tired of staying in one place without moving for so long. "We all go in the end. Better to make the best of it. Would you be able to live with yourself not doing anything?" She wouldn't. Which is why she chose to fight, even if it was against the White Moon or the Negaverse, the group that her boyfriend was in.

"Hm." Cybele closed her eyes for a moment as she considered. Then, she cracked a half smile. "Well, from my experience, it seems like a lot of you gear up for a fight the moment you see a White Moon senshi. If it's someone's first time seeing you, that may not give them the best impression." Her smile widened and softened as she thought back further. "The first Dark Mirror I met was Remarque. He was very nice about things, but he did have me doubting for awhile if the Negaverse was actually that bad. That almost got me killed a few times." To be fair, it was partially her own fault, as she'd sought out advice from her allies and then ignored it. For all the horrors, at least that was something she'd figured out at this point. "That's something I'll have to work out with him if I see him, but somebody else might hold it against your court."

She nodded somewhat blankly at the comments about space, which was very much not her area of expertise, when she realized that Mithra was talking about something that had happened recently. "Monument thing?" she asked, a bit of brightness coming back into her eyes.

The last bit was where Cybele felt like she was walking on thin ice. Did she even believe in the White Moon enough to speak for them, especially to someone from the Court she'd been inches from joining before the strange dreams of the future had changed everything? She couldn't just stay silent on this. "The White Moon does have its drama, but in the end I think we have the right goal. If we can hold the Negaverse back, or even defeat them, which, oh, that would be so nice," she'd never even considered the Negaverse just being gone before, the war being flat out won. "For example, people could go to regular public events without watching people getting ripped apart by youma or having their souls stolen." Thinking back to a few of those events was difficult, and the comment about being able to live with yourself hit close to home. Despite what she was saying, and even though she tried, it seemed like nothing that she did was ever enough.

Cybele took a deep breath. "Well, it seems that you don't like the Negaverse, but that you don't trust our goals either, but you're still out here, ready to fight and talking about purpose." she looked Mithra straight in the eyes and said in a soft voice, "What exactly are you fighting for?"

SSBrosB
PostPosted: Tue May 15, 2018 6:58 pm

Mithra laughed a little. "Well, I suppose we are usually up for a fight, which might put others on edge. I'll admit though that I really don't mind the fights, means I get to use my fists on something other than a bag." And there was nothing quite like watching some jerk's eyes widen as the realized they had messed up big time by messing with her and them getting knocked down.

"Ooh, Remarque. He's interesting. He's the one who awakened me, though he was kind of creepy about it." Circus-freak dressed guy luring a woman who was walking on the sidewalk at night into an alleyway. What could possibly go wrong? "Though I think he's changed his mind a bit on the Negaverse now. I don't know if he entirely hates them, but he does seem to want to keep us and the Negaverse separated." She had asked about the Negaverse to him, and of course to her boyfriend, and while her boyfriend had no problem with the Dark Mirror, Remarque had given her reasons as to why they were no longer allies. Perhaps not total enemies, but the certainly weren't helping each other any longer.

"Yeah there was a strange monument obelisk that popped up one day. Kidnapped a bunch of people, apparently it was alien programming or something. I just wasn't able to punch it's face as much as I wanted." She was still bitter about being hit so much. "Surprisingly not the Negaverse's fault." And that was the surprise, though she thought that the aliens who had built it may have been chaos aligned. It didn't really matter though.

"It would be nice to have the Negaverse gone." She didn't include the people within it. After all, her boyfriend thought he was doing the right thing by staying. "At least, if it's at the heart of all of the corruption on this planet. I don't like the Negaverse and I don't believe that they have the planet's best interest in mind but... would it be any better without them? Less civilian casualties yes, but would there be a different kind of corruption? Would humans actually make it worse? I do agree that it is awful that one can't even go to an interesting event without it being tied to the Negaverse." Something seriously needed to change about that.

It was then that the senshi looked her straight in the eyes, and Mithra felt a little uncomfortable. She was not a stare-in-their-eyes person unless it came to someone she was close to, which was barely only her boyfriend at this point. She sniffed and looked away, deciding not to get as serious as the senshi was before her. "Myself. It gives me a place to belong and I've gained some... friends while I've been here. I'm also fighting to just be able to do what I want in terms of justice and to try to help others. Not like Batman or anything, but just, as a Civilian, I wouldn't be able to punch the a-hole that is trying to intimidate me by catcalling me on the street because he could have a gun. But as a Dark Mirror, I can drain him of his energy, punch him if I want, and possibly do something good for others. At least for one night. I know that some of them will never learn the lesson." She might be told that violence wasn't the answer, but sometimes it was. If the courts don't do anything, nor the police, and of course talking to them won't do anything, what other recourse does one have?

Cybele raised an eyebrow but cracked a small smile, like she was listening to something she wasn't supposed to hear. "I understand," she said. "Fighting doesn't seem like something that should be enjoyable, but it's sort of a rush, isn't it?" It was one of those little things that she'd learned to appreciate about those times that her life was in danger.

"In retrospect, yes, Remarque was a bit creepy." She couldn't hold it against him too much. It wasn't his fault that she'd been a newly awakened, overwhelmed teenager and that he truly believed in his court. She supposed he had been rather manipulative, but it wasn't something that had weighed on her too much recently. "But that was a long time ago. I think we were both different people then."

And now she was here, the opposite of bright-eyed. She took the news of yet another strange, probably horrible thing happening with only sucked in cheeks and a small sake of her head and an "Oh." A bit of a smile creeped back into her expression, not quite reaching her eyes. It was for the other sensih's benefit. "It's good that you got back, at least."

But all that was just small talk to compared to the questions she had been asking, and now, although she seemed to have been making Mithra uncomfortable, she did get a real answer. Cybele quickly backed off, taking a step back and to the side to give the other girl some space. She was sincere about not wanting to cause any trouble, even in this sort of way. It was still hard to swallow what she was saying. Ordinary people being just as bad as the Negaverse? Did that mean that the Dark Mirror brand of Chaos was warping her thoughts, too?

This time, she talked to a spot on the ground a few feet in front of her. "I don't think that there's any question that having the Negaverse gone would help things," she said. "Even if you're not the type to have much faith in humanity you should be able to see that. With no Negaverse, maybe there would still men who harass girls and the occasional murder, but not an entire army who can take a soul like that-" she reached out and grabbed an imaginary starseed from the air in front of her. "And no hungry monsters running around with no morals at all. If you mean corruption like some other form of Chaos, that's possible. That's something we'd have to fight as well."

She relaxed and glanced up. "Fighting for yourself is probably a more realistic goal. I think it's what most of us do a lot of the time, no matter what our ideals are." Although this time, it seemed a little selfish to Cybele in a way it hadn't in the past.
