Coffinite was not one easily deterred, but he was a superstitious man. Normally, he hid; wrapped himself in bandages and makeup and clothing hiding his monstrous features, or used a glamor to blend in. Not today.

Today he planned to die the way he had been trapped, in a cursed body, wrought in darkness, at the death of a traitor, all for... A cause he no longer felt. He would make sure his malformed corpse would be found, and he would redeem himself the only way he could.

By sacrificial suicide. Only then could the gods judge him, and he set to selecting his site carefully, not caring who saw him. His corpse was to be an example, and that was that.

Still, the agent found populace but the park, ignoring a few screams as he got there and settled on a quiet location. His body wasn't to be found immediately, but it would still be found... Eventually.

Still, a monster in the park was sure to draw attention, so he was unsurprised to feel an aura of order once settled, and closed his eyes. Perhaps a more fitting death? The agent swallowed, and nodded to himself before glancing over his shoulder, eyes unfocused.

"If you want to be sure, I'll give you my knife. The only one to perish today will be myself, I promise you that."

Almary wasn't normally one to seek out a chaos aura, knowing he was too weak to do much good against them, but for better or for worse something was... odd, today and so when he felt the prickle at his senses he moved to investigate - the accompanying screams making him more alert to the possibility of danger the closer he got.

Except that... that wasn't a monster. That was the relatively-nice negaverser who had tried to help him learn how to fight better. And he wanted to - no. No, no no no no no no.

"The hell is wrong with you?" He asked, surprising himself with the swear even as he moved over and frowned. "Why would you - no. I'm not doing anything like that. You're not doing anything like that. You're - " They weren't friends, not exactly, but Coffinite had been nice to him. He seemed to want to be a better person, half-youma though he was, and...

"....Talk to me first, please?"

Oh. Oh man. This was so far out of his depth that it might just frown him. But he had to try.

Oh. Oh. Coffinite wouldn't have expected a swear from the rather sweet chibi that finally pushed him to his reading, but here he was... Not killing him, and wanting him to not do it himself. Were the gods so cross?

"...Talk. About what? The fact your people have children that my own organization might kill? Or the fact they'd want me to give in to the beast they bonded my body to and become a soul-eating demon? There's many things I could speak of but it won't change what I am." There was a tinge of sadness to his voice, and regret. Becoming a half youma had been forced. It merely took until now to realize that he was forced against his will, in as way.

"The longer I exist the more danger senshi like you are in." He grimaced, shuddering. "I'm not worth saving. So I will die, reincarnate, and be another being and give up my flesh to atone."
PostPosted: Wed Feb 14, 2018 11:29 pm

"But what if you could?" Almary asked, frowning as he moved around until he could meet Coffinite's gaze (mostly) properly. (Spiders... why so many eyes... euuuugh. ) "Change what you are, I mean - wouldn't that be so much better than - than this?" Better than dying, by whatever willing hand showed up to take him out?

"Please? Let me help? You've been nice to me, nice to the others - I don't want you to die! Atone by - by doing good things, with this same life, only better! I'm sure you can do it!"

At least... he hoped that was the case. What better option did he have to offer?

The teen wasn't letting up, was he? A brave one, though, and he shuddered thinking of the Negaverse even touching him. A good child like this -- he didn't want him hurt.

"I'm not sure how." Coffinite finally admitted. "I've already done something unforgiveable."

But others did...

UGH. This was getting complicated.

"Do you really think one can atone for murder?I already blundered with that by harming the one I was trying to protect from neglect." Coffinite then looked... Sad. Laodica would never forgive him for it, would she? She didn't even...

"I'm not sure I can.... My body is fused wiuth that of a youma. I'm not sure how much is human anymore, nor do..."

Bugger this boy, disarming everything by not standing down or attacking. He was too good, too kind, but in a different way from Laodica, and he slowly reached for Almary's hands, shaking.

"...I don't know how to atone. Do you?" He swallowed. "You'd help a monster?"
PostPosted: Thu Feb 15, 2018 8:57 pm

"Dunno," Almary found himself saying, because the truth was he really had no idea. "But I'd think deliberately getting yourself killed isn't really atoning anyway?" This was all way out of his depth. (So far out of his depth, in fact, that he kind of wanted to call his mom to come home early so he could just... hug her and hide in her like he used to do when he was very small, because this was nearly as awful as seeing Massalia thrown out on the street.)

"Anyway, I'm not going to kill you, and I'm not leaving. So I guess we... sit here until something works out." Or maybe he could call Subra? She might have an idea what to do - hadn't her court done... something to help someone? He thought so, but couldn't remember at this very moment.

"I'm sure there's something that can be done to help you, at the very least. Maybe not make up for what you did, but - to help."

Right. It was definitely time to talk to Subra - or at least text her. Though maybe he could have sent something other than 'help pls, maybe bring ur court', in retrospect....

She'd been just about to text the boys to see if they wanted to patrol together, perched in her favorite tree at the park near her house, already henshined up. She'd not been expecting the text from Almary. At all. Especially not asking that she maybe bring her court. Well...okay then. Frowning, she forwarded the text to her court with additions, to let them know something was going on, then one to Almary.

Text to the Court
I got this text from my friend. Gonna check on it. Will check in soon.

Lysithea was out patrolling with Malus when the text came, and frowning slightly she looked at her friend. “Hey, you…in the mood to maybe save someone today?” She trusted Subra, and while she didn’t know who they would be helping or even if Subra knew them…she couldn’t stand by and let someone ask for help when she could provide it.

“Someone’s asking for the court…the senshi that helped me to save you…so I’m going to just go out on a limb here and assume that it’s a youma or something that we’re going to save…I…”

She grew quiet for a moment, not really knowing how Malus would react to such news…but not wanting to keep things from him either. “We’ve done it again, you know. With a half youma General? It…it was unexpected, but I’m so glad that it happened…

And then there was Merlinite…she had to bring that subject up sooner rather than later, as soon as her friend was feeling better, she just wanted to help him and make him into the knight he so desperately wanted to become and now that she knew for sure that it was possible…

There was nothing stopping her other than talking to the group, even though they seemed as though they were beginning to drift apart somewhat.

Gently though, she reached out and took the other senshi’s hand. “Do you want to come with me? I’m sure they’d love to see you, and know that you’re a senshi…and you could watch…and I bet you could be such a comfort to whoever it is we’re helping…and…”

She sighed, squeezing the hand. “I mean, I’m not going to fault you if you don’t want to come. I understand.”

Even though she wanted him in her court. She wanted him beside her in all things, especially things that helped shape his very existence as they both knew it.

Malus blinked as she spoke and made no effort to respond until her hand was in his and she was asking if he wanted to go.

Theoretically, of course he wanted to go. He was very interested in how it was done, and at the time he had experienced it, he hadn’t really understood what had happened. It had been confusing and frustrating. If they were purifying another youma, if there was some way that he could help…

“I’ll go, as long as they don’t mind. I don’t want to intrude,” he replied, forever self conscious of his presence and how he could be perceived. He hadn’t really interacted with the Court after he’d been purified and he felt strangely vulnerable at the idea of meeting up with them now. He didn’t quite know how to introduce himself—‘Hi, I’m the youma you purified, Evan, and now I’m Malus, the Super Senshi of Glass’? He squirmed a little bit and held onto Lysithea’s hand a little tighter.

“If they need us, we should go, though. And if they don’t want me there, I can just wait off to the side while you finish.”

Not too far, though; he didn’t really like the idea of being alone and tried to avoid it as often as possible.

“…And if the youma needs any help, I,” he shrugged and seemed suddenly shy. “I could always talk to them, if they wanted it. I mean, unless you guys have a plan for how you deal with those things. You had a half youma General, too?” he asked, looking up at her. “Was it the same as how you helped me, or was it harder? Or easier? –Are they doing okay, now?”

Cambria beamed at Malus and began walking, shooting back a quick text to Subra as she started for the location that was given. “It was…different than you. There wasn’t as much…involved emotionally for me, at least…I didn’t know her…and we were just kind of…pulled there by Cosmos so that was a little strange but, not unwelcome at all.”

She grew quiet for a moment. “I don’t know though. Like, personally, I think it would be easier knowing the youma…like with you…or if we ever get to purify Airi…” A small look of sadness flitted through her face at the name and she sighed. “But…at the same time, with that…there’s that fear of oh God, what if we ******** this up? Like, with the General…I don’t know. I suppose I had more confidence because I had done it before but…”

She shrugged and felt a few senshi auras up ahead as well as one of a lieutenant and squeezed Malus’ hand gently.

“But we’re not going to mess up. We’re going to save everyone that we can, and we’re going to make this city a better place. And maybe one day…you’re going to be with us. I’d like that, Mal. I really would. You belong with our group, I think…”

Coffinite was ready to reply. To say no - no he couldn't be better, becaudse he was still fuysed to a monster. He killed people, and... Why didn't the boy understand?

The half-youma was more than prepared to simply resume as he was when more suddenly began to show up, and the half-youma felt a seize of panic form in his chest. One senshi he could handle but now there were several swarming. Had Almary done that? HOW? The half-youma began to slowly shake, ready to just end it right there before they could try to stop him--

And that was exactly the moment Eternal Sailor Elpis arrived and smacked the half-youma upside the head from behind with a rather half-disgruntled look. She wasn't annoyed by the text from Subra -- any case of panic was worth coming to, so much as seeing who and, based on her discussions with Kells and then Laodica...

"Good lord, you're an actual idiot." The senshi drawled, but didn't do more than lift him by the arm, idly prying the knife from his fingers before motioning.

"Hey guys." She then drawled. Coffinite swallowed, then turned large, frightened green eyes up at Elpis before looking to the others... And hid behind Almary. No matter how badly he wanted, senshi always terrified the lieutenant and it wasnm't helped by the presence of so many, familiar face or not.

Elpis casually looked around before carrying the knife to Lysithea, nodding.

"I had no idea we were helping him. I know he'd asked Kells questions for someone."

Then she turned to Subra, and grinned, ruffling her hair.

"Hey Subra." The senshi crooned. Coffinite made a low noise of anxiety before slowly peering over Almary's shoulders after trying to make himself impossibly small, and whined.

"Why are you all HERE?"

Almary sent the response text off to Subra with the location and settled in to wait, fidgeting nigh-constantly as he watched Coffinite and hoped the half-youma wouldn't try anything dumb while he was the only one here to do anything about it. The chibi couldn't help the relief that escaped him when Subra and her court started arriving, freeing him from having to worry quite so much about the possibility of tackling the officer when he was both phobic of spiders and really knew nothing about how to help someone in this sort of mental state.

When the half-youma tried to hide behind him, he sighed and patted one of his arms, but rolled his eyes. "Thanks for coming," he addressed the court, then moved over to throw his arms around Subra and shake for a moment. "I mean it. Thank you. I've been... really scared for him..." But now there was a chance - a real chance, wasn't there?

----

Sailor Forte wasn't too sure about this - this was, what, the third time now they were being called up as a group to purify someone? It wasn't like she had a problem with it,exactly - helping people was great! It was fine! Was... that... all there was for her to do, though?

Guh. She was bored. It did look like this guy really needed them, though, she thought as she reached the place, glancing around to see who else was here. Was he - those were extra arms. If she'd thought that general had been creepy, this guys was... hm. Well, not more creepy, but a different kind of creepy.

The look in his eyes, though - and that knife. She knew what those meant, and winced. "Damn, got our work cut out for is this time," she muttered, and sighed. "Wish we had more people here you're comfortable with, guy. But we'll make sure you're alright."

It... maybe it wasn't the best job at being comforting, but Forte had always been better at punching people than easing their worries. Hopefully he'd get her sentiment, at least?

Subra passed on the location to the rest of her court, trying to ignore the worry settling into her stomach. Almary needed their help. But for what? She shook her head, and smiled at the mud senshi when she arrived. His company, however, surprised her. And made it rather obvious why they had been asked for, aside from just she and Almary being close.

"Oh!" She hugged Almary tightly, giving a small smile to Elpis and Forte in greeting. And Lysithea when she saw her. The senshi with Lysi wasn't familiar, but Subra knew Lysi wouldn't bring anyone she didn't trust. Taking a deep breath, she looked to the half-youma with her smile turned bright. "We're here to help! I'm Sailor Chibi Subra! The one who just said something before me is Sailor Forte. And that's Eternal Sailor Elpis. And there's others coming, too! And together, we'll be able to help you. I promise, we aren't here to fight."

Lysithea frowned slightly when everything seemed to happen at once, and watched as Elips pried a knife away from the now cowering lieutenant. Well…

Well she supposed that was for the best. He looked terrified.

Giving a smile to her friend, Lysithea moved towards the half youma and held out a hand, slightly curious as to which one…if any of his own would shake it and offered what she hoped would be interoperated as a calming smile. So long as she didn’t end up looking like a constipated cat, she figured she’d be pretty okay.

“Hey there. I’m Sailor Lysithea. We were called here to help you, I’m thinking. Together we have the power to help people like you…half youma and full youma…we can bring back all of the lost humanity. We’ve done it before and even…”

She glanced over to Malus, holding a hand out towards him, beckoning him over with the tips of her fingers. “They go on to live pretty happy lives, though I might be biased with this guy.”

Grinning, the senshi turned her gaze back to Coffinite for a moment, before glancing around at the others. “Do you want our help, I’m…not sure of your name, but I know all of us are ready and willing to help you…”

She pulled out her phone and sent Adria a quick text, hoping that he was on his way.

Where are you, boo? We need you. There’s a half youma and we can’t do this without you.

Looking back up at Coffinite, Lysithea straightened. “You can be free of Chaos. Free of the uncertainty of what your future holds…and you can live a life that doesn’t make you want to end it. Or at least…I hope it doesn’t. But…but that is your choice in the end, but know that we…your friends will always be here for you, okay?”

Malus was quiet as he walked with Cambria; it wasn’t that he didn’t have things to say, it was just that he didn’t quite know how to say them. He took her words to heart and processed them intently, but there was no denying that a look of sadness, of disappointment, had crossed his face when she mentioned Airi.

He kept his hand in hers, only slightly unnerved by the energy signature of a lieutenant. It didn’t matter if he was stronger than that, or if he was surrounded by people who would fight against the agent if it came down to it—something about Chaos just never sat right with him.

He had nodded when she said she belonged with the group, because even if he’d had it in his heart to deny her anything he could at least understand why she would consider the idea. He had experience none of them had—and a drive to help other youma that could have rivaled anyone else’s. He had faith in the Court, in Lysithea, that she wouldn’t mess anything up.

He was bad luck though, so he could only hope for the best if he was involved.

He could see the agent’s disdain when they approached, and he felt more guilty than anything in that moment. It was scary, to be surrounded by a group of could-be enemies. And Malus knew he didn’t need to be there, so he felt even worse about joining in on the swarm, even if the intent was to help them. He couldn’t do much in this instance, so instead he tried to hide behind Lysithea a bit, even if just to give Coffinite the illusion of less to worry about. Only, Lysithea moved and he suddenly felt incredibly exposed when she moved away.

Sheepishly, he waved when she addressed him to the half youma, and then awkwardly lowered his hand to rub at the elbow of his other arm.

Movement in the corner of his eyes made him jerk his gaze to the side, just before a burst of sunset colors and blonde hair stumbled into view.

“Hi, hello, sorry,” Adria said, immediately apologetic about his haphazard appearance. “I got your text! But I was running late.” Leaves stuck in his hair and to his outfit and the super Senshi immediately attempted to make himself look more presentable. He was out of breath but trying to conceal it as much as possible. He seemed a bit disheveled and shaken but made no effort to explain his appearance; instead, he offered a polite, apologetic smile to the group—and the lieutenant—before he waved to each of the girls. He glanced behind him once more, as if looking for something, and then shook his head. Adria didn’t try to crowd the Lieutenant and instead stood a little closer to Malus while he resumed fussing with his outfit, and although he was familiar with Malus, he still seemed a bit surprised at his presence and glanced to Lysithea inquisitively.
