Nickname: none yet
Age: 15
Birthday: December 2nd, 2003
Sign: Sagittarius
Gemstone: Topaz
Blood Type: A-
Fav. Food: Cheddar and sour cream potato chips, but really anything vaguely cheese flavored.
Hated Food: Brussel sprouts, gross.
School: Hillworth Grammar School
Hobbies:
- Mr. Saxobeat - His passion, his muse, his honk. Desmond loves playing the saxophone, and up until his current foster home was well-practiced with the instrument, both trained classically and in the songs that make for good memes. His current career goal is to be a professional busker, and no one has yet convinced him that it's a bad idea.
Dungeons and Dragons - Desmond's been playing D&D since he was 13 and his case worker suggested that he join in on a game to better connect to his peers. That was two schools ago, but he brings the same character sheet every time: a kobold cleric who gives a different name every session and likes to eat socks. He also accepts riding on the rest of the medium-sized party's shoulders as adequate payment for his healing services. He's been trying to get a group going in the Hillworth dorms.
Virtues:
- Charismatic - Desmond is a smooth-talker, and he knows it. He's incredibly adept at reading people and situations, placing himself in positions to ingratiate himself with the people who have what he wants. More than a few times, he's gotten out of trouble with just a warning on account of his warm, puckish personality, and his skills with networking means he always has a friend or two to call when there's a need.
Motivated - You want it done? Put Desmond on it--he's a high-energy boy with plenty of drive and a need to prove himself as not just another foster failure. He likes feeling useful and accomplished, and he's not frustrated by challenges as long as he can keep moving forward.
Reliable - Desmond's word is his bond--if he says he's going to do it, he's going to do it, no matter what wacky hijinks he gets up to in order to get the job done. He might not always be on time, but Desmond prides himself on being a true-blue friend and always being available to help out his fellow man when the chips are down.
Flaws:
- Desperate for attention - There's not much Desmond wouldn't do for a gold star or a pat on the back. He's eager to please to a fault, and it's gotten him in with the wrong crowd once or twice in search of some external form of validation. He craves the attention of his peers, and he'd be willing to do some pretty stupid or terrible things to get it.
Short-sighted - Desmond's never had to make long term plans, because he's been shuffled around from foster home to foster home, until he ended up at Hillworth full time. What would he care about the cost of something he broke? It's not like he'll be in the same state this time next year.
Spread Too Thin - Desmond is going to change the world with his music--just as soon as he volunteers at the shelter--and right after he helps a buddy move to a different dorm. He's got such a giving personality that often times he wears himself out doing favors for people, many of whom aren't spending the same amount of effort on him in return. Desmond has a difficult time with considering the bigger picture when it's not errands for everyone else, and it often hurts his own prospects for the future--whether it's slipping grades, a lack of sleep, or an empty stomach.
