hurr hurr I tried

Kallichore rarely lingered at the docks, with a wall of steel warehouses overlooking a vast sea. The winds were calm tonight and her patrol meandered in the ways it usually did, swaying from one block to another in no particular pattern. Her patrols were always unusual and unplanned, even from the start.

There was a pure and powerful signature here, just over the metal shipping containers piled two-high and casting huge shadows. It was this signature that attracted her attention - another Eternal from the feel of it. Was it Corvus? Scylla? Or one of the myriad other Eternals she happened to meet along their shared journey? Hell, it could even be her own brother, who rose to the rank not too long ago himself. It was anyone's guess.

It turned out that whoever owned this signature was someone unfamiliar to her - clad in dark colors with white wings standing in stark contrast. Kallichore lit atop the shipping containers to announce herself politely before unintentionally invading someone's personal space. "Good evening. I... don't think we've met before. My name is Kallichore." Voice even, the lack of wind made volume unnecessary. "Are you out on patrol as well? I haven't found any Negaverse agents in the area."

The docks were an odd place to Metis. For her, it was not necessarily an ideal place to venture, largely due to the lack of life that permeated the darkness of the manmade land, structures, and the empty expanse that consisted of the water. Her vision was more of a hindrance out there, only able to see the small space outlined by her own energy aura bouncing off features around her. Perhaps the occasional yellow from rats. Some weak green from plants, though not enough to really... light up much.

She was lead by the echo of winds through the warehouses, crates, and across the vastness of the sea. The sounds of her heels clicking against the ground formed her sense of the world around her far stronger than her magical vision, centering her even with the ebb and flow of the rocking tides playing havoc with her sense of balance now and then.

This was a liminal place. A place caught where the earth met the sky and water, where humans could only stay so long as their resources enabled. Her hands were folded in front of her, playing with the gold coins and ribbons wrapped there. She breathed in the salt spray, seaweed, rotting fish, open air, oil and fumes from machinery and boats... everything that mixed and formed something strange and new in that place.

That there was another Eternal signature out there--Order, thankfully--had only added to the sense of over here she'd felt. A pull on her like a thread through her chest, reeling her in bit by bit till she stood at the railing of one of the docks, beyond metal shipping containers she'd run a while glove over as she'd passed. There, it anchored her in place, that thread. Told her to wait. The aura approached, and she did just that, listening as footsteps echoed here and there beneath the pulse of the waves, till at last they banged over the containers.

The voice was not familiar, but Metis still turned, a smile on her face as she tried to respectfully direct herself towards the source. "Good evening to you, as well. No, I don't believe we have had the pleasure, but it is wonderful to meet you, Kallichore. I am Metis." The name sounded familiar thought, and she paused, brow wrinkling slightly over her blindfold before she laughed. "You created the Primer, didn't you?" She'd looked through it, of course, when it became available on the phones. It held useful info, and was rather grateful there was something out there beyond just finding the right guardian cat to help out senshi new to this mess.

Still, she hesitated on how to respond to that second question, having chosen to ignore it for a moment. "It's... not just patrol, though I do try to keep a sense out for any youma or agents about. Just... a feeling, too, I suppose."

Kallichore immediately recognized by the cloth about her head that Metis was blind, and yet the way she moved was unlike anything she had ever seen. Metis seemed aware of her surroundings, more so than someone who lost their sight might normally be. Without being rude or intrusive, Kallichore wasn't sure just how to broach the subject. The gray-haired woman was incredibly curious.

With a nod of her head (not that Metis could see it... or could she?), the eternal senshi confirmed her identity. "...Yes, I'm relieved to know it's been of some help, though I can't imagine it would do you much good, would it?" She chuckled, covered her mouth slightly with the heel of her hand. "Those wings and your aura tell me you've been doing this for some time. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Metis' name didn't ring any bells, but that in and of itself wasn't uncommon. Order, despite its name, was terribly disorganized. It was tragic, really.

But there was nothing to be gained by wishing for things that simply were not.

"A feeling?" Heels clicked against the dock's cold surface, the senshi of madness wished not to intrude on this quiet moment more than to sate her curiosity. She stood by, casting brown eyes out to the sea. Though the ocean was finite and studied and mapped all along its edges, the depths still eluded man's eyes.

The only sign that Metis had that Kallichore might have moved her head was a slight wobble in the copper and silver tendriled silhouette that made up any powered senshi, but it wasn't until the other spoke that anything was actually confirmed for her. They were too far away for Metis to trust that vision of hers to hold any real accuracy beyond vague body position. "You might be surprised. Sometimes even veterans need little reminders here and there to details that might have gotten blurry or perhaps has changed over the years."

She didn't really comment on the notion that her uniform and energy signature--all signs of an Eternal--suggested really how long she'd been a senshi--she had been a Super Senshi for a number of years, while she was aware some others in that time had gone through all three rankings. But the concept of experience was still there, so she merely gave a chuckle. "Moreso, I was excited to see something like that going around for newer awakenings to have access to. It was a wonderful thing to put together."

Still, Metis gave a soft hum as the other pressed the sensation that had drawn her there. "One of those, come out come out, wherever you are sort of nagging in the back of my mind, that's all." The words were said slowly, carefully chosen though a furrow formed in her brow regardless. It still wasn't perfectly articulating things. "Nothing hostile or threatening, just... a feeling like something is waiting. Or perhaps I'm projecting." She said the last bit with an additional laugh, her shoulders slumping slightly. Maybe she was the one waiting. Waiting for the Asteroids to return, waiting for Labyrinthite to try to kill her again, waiting for... something.

It said a lot about her, she knew, that the idea of waiting to next see Khal or Mel only drifted into her mind a few moments after. Happy things did not come first through the fog as of late.

Something waiting.

Come out, come out, wherever you are.

She nodded, knowing very well what that nagging, ephemeral feeling that beckoned a senshi. She too was beckoned by that song, from somewhere in the cosmos. Kallichore solemnly nodded, moving closer to the edge of the dock to watch the sea churning in silence. "Sometimes, history is easy to forget. If I hadn't written it down..."

I may have forgotten Ares, and the Dark Mirrors, and the promise of salvation in darkness...

What might be waiting for Metis? Was it here, or was it out in the churning sea?

"I'm simply thankful it can assist those senshi who don't have constant mentorship when they're first awakened. I find it so unfortunate that, most of the time, we're awakened and left to fend for ourselves. That's how I came into this war. I'm thankful the same could not be said for my brother. He has a Mauvian underfoot at all times."

Looking out to the sea, Kallichore crossed her hands before her, listening to the world around them. The gentle caress of the wind through her hair, the creaking of settling shipping containers, the groan of wood and steel beneath them. "...has it called out to you yet, Metis?"

Metis nodded, her smile growing. "The less new awakenings need to flounder around like most of us have, the better," she said with a laugh. Even if it wasn't really a laughing matter--many of them blundered into trouble without any real guidance.

It was something Order sorely lacked, and the Negaverse seemed to excel in.

"There aren't enough Mauvians to help everyone immediately, so I'm glad your brother has that help. Your Primer, though... I think it will continue to help a lot of people get settled, and help inform them where they can look for further information or help." That was the ideal goal for it, after all.

But, she hummed, looking out over the emptiness of the waves, listening to the world outlined by wind and sounds around them.

"I'm not sure. But I believe it will start calling me in the right direction, at least."
