OBSERVANT Having traveled the world and experienced exceedingly untrustworthy people in the most questionable of environments, Declan has long since learned to sleep with both eyes open. He is a keen listener--even when not being spoken to, and he catches even the slightest hints of body language, making him exceptional at reading people. His perceptive ways do not always mix well with his highly analytical side, as he often finds himself over-analyzing many situations and relationships.
QUIET Perhaps from having spent so much time "on the road," Declan isn't voluntarily outgoing. He is not the type of man one would find making a scene in the streets of Hogsmeade after one too many Firewhiskeys at The Three Broomsticks. He might not strike up a conversation with a stranger in the bathroom, but is not by any means anti-social for the sake of anxiety. He speaks easily when necessary and won't hesitate to smile at a stranger or reply to one's afternoon greeting with one in return. He simply doesn't feel the need to fill the empty spaces with white noise.
LOYAL Having traveled so extensively, Declan has rarely found himself socializing long-term,
making the relationships he does build ones that can't easily be torn down.
He doesn't care to fraternize with people he doesn't trust, so he wouldn't dare risk losing the ones he does.
HONEST Perhaps to a fault, Declan goes heavy on the honesty, and often comes off rather blunt.
He believe that everyone may not deserve the truth, but he doesn't waste time harvesting lies. Even if there's a bush, he won't typically beat around it.
SARCASTIC Being his own best friend has given Declan a strong sense of humor, seeing as he relied for so long on making himself laugh. His jokes typically come in the form of very dry, sarcastic comments that, coupled with his honest nature,
can make it difficult to differentiate between the truth and a smart comment.
ADVENTUROUS Travel expert and adrenaline junkie, Declan has more or less become the very definition of adventure. He might not find it difficult to sit still for weeks on end, but when the time comes, he never turns down the chance to get out and enjoy a break from monotony. His cursebreaking profession suited him well.

EARLY CHILDHOOD Declan grew up in Scotland as the only son of two loving parents before their unexpected death during his second year at Hogwarts. Prior to his parents' deaths, he was a moderately spoiled child in a very tight-knit family. He was never extremely rambunctious, but always liked to push the limits of their rules and patience in his own way. He loved to be outdoors,
whether taunting the garden gnomes or pretending to battle dementors near his family's pond. At the same time, Declan could spend hours reading The Tales of Beedle the Bard next to a crackling fire, his dad in the armchair next to the window with a copy of the Quibbler in hand, and the smell of his mum's pumpkin pasties drifting in from the next room.
SCHOOL YEARS Declan had countless acquaintances, only a few close friends, and a handful of enemies during his days at Hogwarts. After his parents died, he was raised by a dedicated grandfather who ultimately taught him to be the man he is, and to never settle for anything in life. He became less talkative and allowed himself to become more perceptive. His open and trusting nature drifted away, and he found it hard to make many close friends. Nevertheless, his adventurous manner often had him skirting minor rules in order to distract himself when he wasn't cooped up in the Gryffindor common room with a copy of his favorite thriller. He did progressively well in his courses, and interacted easily with others, but only when necessary outside of his comrades. He developed a strong sense of morality, but to this day he still feels there is a wide line between doing what is right and doing wrong. This made him a good friend and a good rule breaker. His blunt nature and distaste for over-confidence earned him a place on several students' bad side.
POST-GRADUATION Following his graduation from Hogwarts, Declan chose to travel the world in order to gain a broader perspective and find out what he wants to do with his life. He lingered in a handful of town for a considerable length of time, holding a variety of jobs, from bartender to journalist, before taking a position with Gringotts as a cursebreaker. This allowed him to continue to travel and work at the same time. Declan began to grow weary of breaking curses for a bank to profit off of, and after several loyal years he took a position with a privately-contracted cursebreaking company, in which he served as somewhat of a magical archaeologist. His job consisted of finding and breaking cursed artifacts so that they could be displayed in any one of a large number of museums worldwide. Having seen just about every sight there is to see, he has recently decided to reduce his workload to part-time, and will be selective in the few jobs he takes a year. He is finally looking to settle down, and is seriously considering seeking a position as a professor with Hogwarts.
