          Who: Sven, Nina, and Holle
When: Feb 6th, in the evening
          Where: A cafe
          Weather: Cold and rainy

Sven adjusted his coat, fingers tucking into his pocket to feel around for his wallet as he waited. They were back at the same cafe, tucked neatly into the same cafe he had met Nina originally. He had heard the news; Nina's raevan had arrived. At first, he hadn't thought to reach out. His own ill-luck with the banshee soul in his dresser had left a foul taste in his mouth for a long time. He was only just now understanding that his raevan was not going to be the creature who tried to murder him. Soon, he would send them in.

Not today, though.

He wasn't ready yet. The house wasn't ready. The room being decorated wasn't done, he didn't have the proper materials for another person in the house.... more and more excuses kept piling. In all honesty, he was afraid. Scared to ruin this new soul with his own selfish fears. Terrified to hurt the raevan who would rely solely on him. He had thought he would be ready, but as the days counted he found that more and more insecurities piled.

What if he was a s**t father?

Maybe that was why he reached out to Nina — he had met her when she was childless, just like him. She was evidence it was doable. That, and perhaps he was tickled pink at the idea of meeting the parent of a newborn. Someone closer to the age of his future child. Perhaps he just enjoyed Nina's company (which he did, honestly). No matter the reason, Sven waited patiently at their table, eying his watch as he sipped his iced tea.

The rain pelted them like small, frigid stones. Nina had only her splayed palm to shield her from the elements, the lack of a hood with her very stylish coat making her chagrin at how much she spent on it. Holle clung to her arm as she walked; keen to use her mother as a shield as she was willingly dragged along into the cafe.

The Swans burst through the cafe door like it was a finish line, spooking a passing server. Swiftly, they pushed the door closed, and both reveled in the warmth inside. Nina didn't lose her wits for too long, however; when Holle began to shake water from herself like a soaked dog, she tut-tutted the Frei.

"Come now, Holle. Is this how you want to greet our guest?" Nina reached her hand out and smoothed out the Frei's matted locks, trying to will life back into her short hairstyle.

Holle harrumphed. "I didn't even wanna come, mama! I finally figured out how to use the remote, and you tear me away from the one show I was watching!"

The brunette internally sighed. Ah, she was being difficult again. Their first few months together had been golden, what with Holle's persistent curiosity and idealism shining forth like the sun, but ever since her powers started to come in, there's been an... unfortunate shift in her mood. It was hard gauging what was the cause as her mother, let alone her career experience with non-humans. But that was for another day, they were here for Sven.

"I'm sorry, sweetie, but Sven's a really nice person. You'll like him, and I know he'll be delighted to meet you. It's okay to miss your show for one episode, yes?"

Holle let out a small sigh, and raised a hand to her mother's forearm in reassurance. "Okay," Holle said. "Just this once, but you've got to find the episode I've missed on the internet, okay, mama? You've got to!"

"Of course, of course," Nina said, cocking her chin when a server asked to seat them. Indication of the table where Sven sat was all she needed to let them be on their way.

Nina broke the ice first. "Sven! Good to see you," she said to him, smiling gently. "I hope you didn't wait long? The weather's been an absolute pain, so sorry we're late."

Any indication the Frei was upset to miss her show seemed to flit away when Holle was in Sven's company. She bounded up to him, eyes vividly bright and excited, to say hello. "You must be Sven!" she cried. "Hi, it's nice to meet you! You know my mama already, so I won't mention her, but you don't know me! I'm Holle!"

Sven jolted to attention when he heard Nina's voice, instantly a familiar smile on his features. While he hadn't met her enough times to feel truly comfortable, it was clear her presence was welcome. He stood in greeting, about to step forward when a blur of movement slid to his side in one fluid move. He took one step back to gather himself and see the cause clearly, his features instantly igniting into a wider smile as the girl was revealed.

Well, by damned, Nina really did have a raevan! He literally could remember discussing with Nina what her soul might become, and here they were, speaking at hime a mile a minute with an eagerness he hadn't expected from their soul. Really, what had he been expecting? Raevans liked to surprise, if he had learned anything. This would be his experience soon, too. An idea would become an action, and what was once just a conversation spoken over tea would become a living breathing child in his home.

Ah, there it was, that excitement that had only just now developed again. Why had he been so hung up on their raevan again? It seemed all so silly now.

"I am," He laughed back, a warmth present in his eyes that didn't often find home there. She was endearing. "Nice to meet you Holle! Did you pick that name? Either way, it's lovely; someone made a good choice." His words were genuine as he smiled up at Nina before, carefully, his polite demeanor began to return as the quiet man gestured to the table. "I'm excited to hear about what's happened lately."

Hands clutched the edge of the table as the Frei leaned forward. She loved when someone asked about her name. "No," she said, shaking her head. "I didn't pick my name, mama gave it to me. It was her first gift to me—I'll cherish it always!"

Nina's face flitted between a chagrin and a smile. Shaking her head, she said, "Oh, Holle..." and to Sven, "She tells everyone. It's a little embarrassing... I'm sorry."

Sven's gesture prompted Nina to sit. She took the seat across from him, as Holle continued to hover beside her and remain slightly confused with the etiquette required for chairs. A slight wave of Nina's hand caused Holle to float over and "seat" herself by draping her ribbon on the chair.

"Let's see, uh... I guess a lot has happened," Nina said, scratching at her cheek. "Okay, actually, that's a bit of a lie. All I've been doing is working. School year's been a drain, but it always is. Holle's the only exciting thing that's happened thus far."

The Frei's eyes lit up. "Do you mean that mama? Really?" She seemed two steps shy of throwing her hands about the woman and embracing her. "Mama does work a lot, though. With her, it is always work, work, work. It's boring having to wait for her to come home, especially with that boring babysitter..." Holle concretely ignored the motherly glare Nina gave her. "What do you do, Sven? Is it a cool job? I bet it's a cool job; cooler than having to work all of the time."

His head shook, a short laugh escaping him. "No worries, I think it's sweet." Sven watched Holle in interest before returning to view Nina, leaning against his chair with a hand delicately placed on the table. He couldn't help another short but sweet laugh at the intimate affection radiating from Holle for her mother, eyes warming considerably.

"I'm sure she works so hard so you're safe and happy," He hummed absently, head cocking to the side as she asked his profession. "Ah, I'm not sure I'm any more thrilling. I write books for a living. Short stories, novels, series; whatever catches my interest. I'm fortunate enough to be able to work from home, but sometimes I take trips to gather material." He paused, a curious glimmer in his eyes. "Do you have any idea what you'd want to do once you're all grown?" Oh, he highly doubt she had an answer, but he was curious nonetheless!
