May 2nd, 1998 is a date that all witches and wizards will have burnt into their heads. It was the day that He Who Must Not Be Named fell from power. In the years that have followed since he was vanquished by Harry Potter, the magical world has held it's breath. Eventually most people were able to relax and move on after the tragedies of the latest wizarding war. Most people would like to believe that they learned a lot from that recent bit of history. However, there was one person who seemed to learn something a great deal darker than most...and after great pains, they are finally making their move.
Now, in the year 2002, will the magical world be ready to face down this threat? Or will this mastermind succeed to see their plans come to fruition where countless of others before them have failed?
It has been four going on five years since the fall of 𝔜𝔬𝔲 𝔎𝔫𝔬𝔴 𝔚𝔥𝔬 and the Wizarding world is slowly recovering. There is still a great amount of fear as people from all over fear his return. Most, however, believe that the famous Harry Potter vanquished him once and for all. Regardless of the truth, since his latest defeat the world has tried to move on. Harry Potter himself returned to Hogwarts to complete his Seventh Year before becoming a Junior 𝔞𝔲𝔯𝔬𝔯. His friends also continued on with their lives. But not everyone could move on so easily.
As the ministry hunted down and imprisoned known and suspected death eaters, some of the young adults were ferried away to locations all across the globe. Their parents, who had been 𝔇𝔢𝔞𝔱𝔥 𝔈𝔞𝔱𝔢𝔯𝔰 themselves, rightfully feared that their children would suffer the repercussions. And despite the danger these children slowly found one another and found solace in one another over their situation. They weren't the only ones looking to find people who knew how they felt - another person had been looking for them as well.
No one, not even the bands of teenagers, knew who this individual was. They was called the 𝔖𝔥𝔞𝔡𝔬𝔴 because when anyone tried to shine light into their identity, they were no where to be seen. No one can even say for sure if they are a male or female, or even if they really exist to begin with. But the 𝔖𝔥𝔞𝔡𝔬𝔴 is very real and they have a great plan for the wizarding world in the wake of 𝔜𝔬𝔲 𝔎𝔫𝔬𝔴 𝔚𝔥𝔬.
Since the fall of ℌ𝔢 𝔚𝔥𝔬 𝔐𝔲𝔰𝔱 𝔑𝔬𝔱 𝔅𝔢 𝔑𝔞𝔪𝔢𝔡, this anonymous figure has traveled the earth to understand how a ℌ𝔬𝔯𝔠𝔯𝔲𝔵 works and how it's made.They put together their own following as they collected the children of 𝔇𝔢𝔞𝔱𝔥 𝔈𝔞𝔱𝔢𝔯𝔰, and their followers have helped them with their search. They found that ℌ𝔬𝔯𝔠𝔯𝔲𝔵 were no were near as rare as people may have thought. In fact, it seemed that many historical artifacts were in fact ℌ𝔬𝔯𝔠𝔯𝔲𝔵.
The 𝔖𝔥𝔞𝔡𝔬𝔴 and their followers gathered these artifacts and they have found out how to use them to bring back many dark witches and wizards from across the ages. The only thing is that as their body perished years ago as did most of their direct relations...which means bringing them back is much more difficult than the ritual 𝔜𝔬𝔲 𝔎𝔫𝔬𝔴 𝔚𝔥𝔬 used to come back after his first fall from power. The 𝔖𝔥𝔞𝔡𝔬𝔴 and their followers traced the genealogy, using magical and practical means to find the 𝔪𝔞𝔤𝔦𝔠𝔞𝔩 𝔡𝔢𝔰𝔠𝔢𝔫𝔡𝔞𝔫𝔱𝔰.
The 𝔪𝔞𝔤𝔦𝔠𝔞𝔩 𝔡𝔢𝔰𝔠𝔢𝔫𝔡𝔞𝔫𝔱𝔰 that were chosen all, for one reason or another, attended 𝐇𝖔𝖌𝖜𝖆𝖗𝖙𝖘. Most were there during the rise and fall of ℌ𝔢 𝔚𝔥𝔬 𝔐𝔲𝔰𝔱 𝔑𝔬𝔱 𝔅𝔢 𝔑𝔞𝔪𝔢𝔡, but they were young. Which meant that now most of them are between the ages of sixteen and seventeen; a few of them were adults that had become professors at 𝐇𝖔𝖌𝖜𝖆𝖗𝖙𝖘. And all of them have no idea of the plan that has been brewing in the background.
All of the followers and the 𝔖𝔥𝔞𝔡𝔬𝔴 have been laying in wait for the perfect time. They planned and plotted, catching each 𝔪𝔞𝔤𝔦𝔠𝔞𝔩 𝔡𝔢𝔰𝔠𝔢𝔫𝔡𝔞𝔫𝔱 when they were vulnerable and using them to resurrect their dark ancestor. Only, something unexpected happened. Instead of the ancient witch or wizard being resurrected...nothing seemed to happen. So the 𝔖𝔥𝔞𝔡𝔬𝔴 erased their memory and let them go so that they can observe what went wrong from a distance. Or at least, what everyone thought was from a distance.
What really happened was that the conscious part of their ancestors soul hadn't taken over their 𝔪𝔞𝔤𝔦𝔠𝔞𝔩 𝔡𝔢𝔰𝔠𝔢𝔫𝔡𝔞𝔫𝔱𝔰 body, not entirely. It had actually fused with them, creating a linked but separated conscious inside of them. The 𝔖𝔥𝔞𝔡𝔬𝔴 and their followers first thought that the plan had failed but then on the full moon after they enacted their plan, something happened. The 𝔪𝔞𝔤𝔦𝔠𝔞𝔩 𝔡𝔢𝔰𝔠𝔢𝔫𝔡𝔞𝔫𝔱𝔰 have no idea that it happened but under the full moon when they slipped into the dream world, their ancestor took over and sought out the 𝔖𝔥𝔞𝔡𝔬𝔴.
Under the fullness of the Hunter's moon, the ancient evils gathered. It was then that they all acknowledged that their time was fleeting as they merged with their 𝔪𝔞𝔤𝔦𝔠𝔞𝔩 𝔡𝔢𝔰𝔠𝔢𝔫𝔡𝔞𝔫𝔱𝔰. Which meant that those who had been afflicted with the dark souls would, soon, become more like their ancestors and the soul of their ancestors would become like then. It was up to the 𝔖𝔥𝔞𝔡𝔬𝔴 to see that this new person turned to their way of thinking.
And unlike 𝔜𝔬𝔲 𝔎𝔫𝔬𝔴 𝔚𝔥𝔬...they weren't after blood purity. They did, however, want to end the secrecy around magic. They wanted to place those with magic above those without. And they believed that the ancient evil souls would be their key into doing so. After all, who wanted an army of untrained children when they could have expert 𝓢𝖔𝖗𝖈𝖊𝖗𝖊𝖗𝖘?

This is a literate roleplay. That does not mean that I will expect monster sized posts out of everyone - though that may happen from time to time. I do ask that you give a minimum of twelve complete sentences per post. I will not be stringent on how often you need to post. In fact, I will be more than happy with one post a week. What I like to see more is loyalty. Stick with us and we'll stick by you...that's the mentality I like. Of course, you may get poked every once in a while for a post if you haven't but I understand that life isn't always at your leisure. Just let us know if something big happens so we can be as sensitive as one can be across the internet. I can't stress this enough but communication and loyalty are the keys to keeping a roleplay alive. Both are equally important. Which is why I've set up a discord server for this roleplay. For the posts themselves, I would ask that you have three basic things in them aside from your writing. I would like to see a picture of your character, their name, and a general location. Just try to make sure that these are easily seen. It really does help keep track of everything. For anything you want us to read do not use anything smaller than size 11, nor something that's too light to easily see. I don't know about you guys but I have horrible eyesight and I don't want to strain it more than I already do. If you would like for me to make you a simple posting format once you've been accepted let me know and I'll get you something pretty quick.

Now onto the characters themselves. Everyone will be allowed to have two characters for now. If, in the future if this changes then I will let everyone know. The "roles" (the souls that your character may embody and the family line they would therefor come from) have already been decided, as you will see below in the character sections, so please make sure you consult that. Characters may either be the best in one subject (such as Charms or Defense Against the Dark Arts), have a special talent (voiceless spell casting, wandless magic, etc), or have a special condition (Lycanthropy, metamorphagus, etc). However, they can only have or be one at a time. For example you couldn't be both a metamorphagus and the best in your potions class.

For your character's backgrounds and personalities...there is one thing I would ask that you try to keep in mind. I understand that creating a rebel or a loner is nice. And I don't like trying to tell people how to make their characters. I just want to remind you that you don't want to purposefully isolate your character and thus yourself. This is a roleplay. Our goal is to write together. Characters that would not work with another person, seek people out, or be recruited tend to be the ones isolated. Just keep that thought in mind while you make your character.

Simplest rule of them all is that we're using real images as face claims. Pick one that you think represents your character. Keep in mind that it needs to fit the background that you've given them. For example, based on what we've seen and know of the universe, magical families aren't likely to have kids with many tattoos and piercings as that seems a very muggle/nomaj thing to do.

First, make sure you read everything on this page and check on characters that have already been reserved. I would also suggest you glance to see if there are any other applications for the character role that you are applying for. Two things have already been decided for the roles (the sex of the decedent of any particular dark witch or wizard as well as the Hogwarts house that they are in). Everything else is up to you.
Second is the actual application. The application should contain three things. The first thing is a picture of your character. The second thing is that you take a few sentences to describe your character. The third thing is that you describe the dark witch or wizard ancestral soul that has been placed inside of them. If there's not much information from canon sources, feel free to get a little creative as long as it makes sense with Rowling's universe.
Overall this reserve should be about two or so paragraphs. It can be longer if you'd like but it should be no shorter than ten sentences. You post this application in the Application thread and you quote r a w r n ii n j a and myself so that we can easily see it. This will show me that you're paying attention and that you're ready to help add more depth into an already wonderful world. Once we have accepted or acknowledged your application, please move on to the reserve section.

This section is where your reserve your character. Technically you've already done that with your application. However, this is just when you post up the information that we have on the front page. You need to post this in the this in the application thread and quote me. The picture should be linked to your character's profile. The profile does not need to be complete to send in your reserve, you just need to have your reserved image linked to where the profile will be. Once it is accepted I will quote you back.
When making the reserve you first need to know that the first set of characters, the post with the wizard with his tea on the gif, are males. The second set of characters, the one with the witch lighting a fire, are females. The second thing you need to know is that your reserve image should be a gif. You can use this site to resize and crop gifs if you don't have an application or site you like to use. The third thing you should know is that you need to use a fancy text called Math bold Fraktur for the Character's Full name only. This is the site you use to create the fancy text for the name. Forth thing you need to know is that the banner lines under the name are color coded based on the assigned house. Indigo is for Teachers, Crimson is for Gryffindors, Gold is for Hufflepuffs, Darkblue is for Ravenclaws, and Darkgreen is for Slytherins.
You also get to pick what fraction of the soul from their ancestor they received. You can pick a Half or a Third. You will also get to pick a special talent, trait, or specialty for your character. Depending on what you pick, please take away the others in the coding as well as fill in what you've actually picked. There is some details between the difference between talents, traits, and specialties in the Miscellaneous section below the characters. This area will also tell you what are some acceptable ones to have.
The last thing is that you can pick a morality; you can use something like black, gray, ambiguous, neutral, shiny, pure, innocent...feel free to get creative (as long as you keep in within 2 words).
Because of how the coding is structured there are two codes. You will need to see if the role you want has the image aligned to the Left, or aligned to the Right. Please use either the Right or the Left code accordingly. For an example of how to do the reserve correctly, please look for my character ( Selene ) in the posts below.

You do not need to be a pureblood to have a dark wizard in your family history. In fact, you could even be a muggle borne. After all, witches and wizards from all generations could have procreated with non-magic individuals. This could have meant that over time the magic died down until it was randomly rekindled in your character. You could also have characters that are from mixed species relationships - vela, giants, etc. Basically you could be from any type of family - pureblood, half-blood, mixed-blood, or from non-magic parents as long as your explanation is reasonable. For pureblood characters you do need to remember that there are only a few pureblood families throughout the world so while it's okay to make up a few of our own, we should pull in the existing ones as well.

There are two very famous wand makers in the United Kingdom areas - Gregorovitch and Olivander. Both are dead now. Olivander's family has taken up his wand making business in the wake of Voldemort's second rising. However, they were not the only wand makers around the world. It was just that most people who went to Hogwarts got their wands from Olivander who had his own style and limitation to wand making. But each wandmaker has their own style. So if you could come up with a reasonable explanation or background story for diverting from the standards that Olivander set into play then you aren't limited to his usual wands.
