To know that a knight, whom he had been descended from, had died alone and remained in the place they had died had never surprised him - not really. They had died alone in a place so very far from where they had been born...very far from family and they had not been buried properly, though he had only recently discovered that last part. Knowing his ancestor wanted a proper burial, and who wouldn’t? Seung had decided it was something he would do his best to fulfill...a last request from someone who had died a long time ago.
The problem was that a place to bury him would be hard to find and even then getting his remains to Korea would be far from easy. He could bring the remains, once he found them, to Destiny City but then where to store them and how to transport them to Korea? Those were the biggest issues, proper burial rites wasn’t a problem, that he could handle easily enough, it was just that moving a body would raise more than a few flags and how to even pack a body properly and transport it and explain to people what it was and why he was transporting a casket.
It was because of this, and with the upcoming February trip to Korea, that Seung had texted Quinn to meet him for a night of patrolling, food, and talking. There was a lot to do and he was hoping to spend some time with the other, outside of work, as they were friends.
With a heat pack in both pockets of his coat Seung was nice and warm, the cold didn’t bother him as much when he was dressed for it as he was now, the cold and him didn’t get along normally due to his uniform. Right now however...it was all good. He was just waiting in Korea town, perched on a rooftop, waiting for the other.

It was cold as hell out! Freezing or damn near it. No sane person wandered the streets this late at night when it was this frigid out but who said senshi, negas, or knights were sane. Besides when Quinn got the text asking him for some company while patrolling he couldn’t really say no. So with a few extra layers… mostly underclothes… Havasu traversed the city, heading to Korea town. He wouldn’t tell his friend that he had been at the library working, or that he hadn’t actually eaten yet even though he had been chased out of the office and nagged to eat dinner. Considering how henpecked he was at work it was hard to believe he was pretty much the next in line for the CEO spot when his dad finally retired. Granted, it was all out of care, or at least in deference to his dad, so Quinn would live with it… sort of. Work around it yeah, but while at the office he will make it seem like he is following orders. It wasn’t like he didn’t want to take it easy! It's just that there was so much to do and it was never ending.
The veteran knight was rather lost in his own thoughts and musings but not so much so that he wasn’t mentally searching his surroundings for any auras so it didn’t come to any surprise when he picked up the distant aura of a fellow knight in the direction of Korea town. Seung… or more precisely Venice. He was already waiting. With a sigh Hav picked up his pace and silently smacked himself for thinking hoofing it all the way here would be a good idea, instead all it did was warm him up and make his friend wait for him, in the cold, while wearing a skimpy outfit, in the dead of night, in winter. <********> With a mental curse Havasu went from casually jogging across rooftops, alleys, and other shadowy crossings to flat out running. It wasn’t long before he skidded to a stop on the top of Venice’s perch breathing heavily and promptly sat on his a** with a breathy laugh when he saw his friend all bundled up in a coat looking all toasty and warm. Of course he would be dressed for the cold! The younger man wasn’t a nitwit… just Havasu. “Geeze! I thought you would be a squire popsicle by the time I showed up. Ha! You look warm and comfy.” His breath puffed out like a dragon’s as the cowboy worked on getting his composure back… and his breath. Running full tilt across various heights of buildings wasn’t a easy thing to do.

Seeing the others arrival Venice got up and made his way towards the other. Taking the other knight into his arms in a hug. “It is good to see you, you did not need to run for me though. Made sure I was bundled before I left.” He had made this mistake a few weeks back, his uniform was not able to handle the cold at all. He could, going by his uniform, assume Ganymede had not had a lot of cold weather in it’s ancient past...or there had been warmer garments his ancestor wore but he hadn’t found, for whatever reason.
“Need to ask for some help...but maybe you sit down first. We can find place for coffee - to warm up while you gain breath back.” He offered, thoughtful as usual. Quinn was more than his boss, that had come second or third anyway, the other was a friend and a fellow knight. “Then we can patrol.” After the other caught his breath and they’d had a hot drink, though he really was feeling like a bubble tea at the moment.
Motioning for the other to follow him as he dropped down into an alleyway before powering down and waiting for the other. They were, at least as far as he’d sensed, safe in the area. He hadn’t picked up on any chaos signatures so he was sure they were safe, if not it would be to someone higher than both himself and Havasu in level.

Havasu accepted Venice’s hug with a half one of his own, it wasn’t easy to give hugs when sitting on your a** on a cold rooftop. “So I can see. Next time I’ll take my damn time.” His smile was bright and carried no malice, hell he likely would have snickered if he wasn’t still trying to catch his breath. “Sure, anything you need man, just got to ask… except that. Not coffee.” Hav grimaced and yanked his hat off, well aware that his hair was likely letting off steam just like his breath was. “Let's go with water or something cold, no coffee right now. I think if I had to drink coffee right now I might melt.” With a soft groan he slowly climbed to his feet and nodded, “Yeah that works. Drinks, rest, then patrolling.” It kinda sucked for him since that meant he would have to do the ‘freezing his a** off’ dance once more to put on the long underwear once he powered backup but if that's what Venice wanted then that's what he was going to do. It sucked, but he would live.
With a silent curse and the wish he had just driven here Havasu followed his friend over the side of the building and in the shadows of the alleyway he powered down. Now, rather than being a Squire of Pluto, a fighter for truth and justice, he was a stuffed shirt. A man in a suit worth more than the average person’s monthly salary… board meetings that day required him dressing up… but in tennis shoes from Walmart. The tie that was dangling out of his coat pocket was quickly shoved back in even as Quinn did his best to settle his clothes over the insulated underthings he was still wearing. Biggest issue with powering down while wearing civi stuff, you end up still wearing it regardless what you now have on. Added a coat after you lost yours when you powered up… Poof, now you have two on. Put on pants… Double pants riding up your a**. It kind of sucked some times, others it wasn’t so bad, right now it really sucked because he would have to take off the underclothes before powering up, pull off his uniform, put back on the understuff, and then redress in his uniform. All in the cold. Fun. Maybe coffee wasn’t such a bad idea.

“Alright...or iced drink?” He asked while glancing over to the other. Already powered down and heading for the sidewalk. There were plenty of places to get tea, coffee, and other drinks both warm and frozen, even if most people wouldn’t get cold drinks this time of year.
“Went to Venice recently...brought a portable light and second battery.” Since the place really needed light. It likely had once used natural light plus candles or some form of power, now whatever it had used no longer remained and no longer served to light the place. It was left mostly in dark and in desperate need of light. “Did some cleaning in the theater...not done though - still much to do there.” But it had left his muscles screaming, and sore the next day, he’d gotten a good amount of moving the chairs about done though. It still however felt like there was so much more to do, and there was but he’d still done a good amount and he was proud of it.
“Ancestor made a request, before I left. I can’t...not on my own.” Trailing off, his fingers moving through his dark hair as he led the way to a cafe where they could get something to drink. The line wasn’t too bad and he knew the place was fairly good.

Quinn shrugged, “Either, or. Water would be healthier but I don’t think either of us will be keeling over from lack of water any time soon.” The young man quickly caught up with his companion. It didn’t really matter to him what they got to drink as long as he got something to drink. That race across the rooftops was no easy task and made him re-evaluate his current exercise regime, or lack thereof. He had been eating better and getting more sleep, mostly because of the endless nagging he got or the scoldings he would get if he didn’t do it, but the exercise part of the ‘getting healthy’ hasn’t really kicked in. Not really at least.
“Oh yeah. I’ve been meaning to ask you about that. I’ve been doing some digging about off grid power sources and other roughing it type building and living stuff. There is a surprising amount of stuff out there but I’m not sure how much can actually help you.” He had compiled a pretty extensive list of things like solar generators and DIY water filtration systems. A lot of do it yourself stuff. Preppers were scary but people just trying to live off the grid for as little as possible really came up with some interesting a** s**t. “Of course there are all these hand tools that you can ferry up there over time so you can really fix the place up.” Working by hand has apparently come back into vogue too since Quinn was able to find just as much, if not more, information on handcrafting things like chairs and stairs and other everyday items as he did on the ‘off grid living’ stuff. Although to be fair they did tend to go hand in hand.
In a quiet part of his mind, Quinn felt sorry for his friend. Seung had been left with a dilapidated building for a wonder. A place that he felt obligated to fix up, or at least clean up, but had no water, light, or power with which to do so. Unlike Havasu Falls which had all three and then some, a place that was as frozen in time as a Jurassic mosquito in amber. He felt shameful over the feelings and guilty for his own wonder so he had been working on finding ways to help Seung out. Even if its just by giving his friend some ideas or encouragement. Besides doing paperwork all day was boring as hell, Quinn missed his classes. He missed sketching out building plans, photographing construction styles, even working on his scale model of his final project. Few knew he had graduated over the summer, he just needed to retake a required class to up his GPA, basically only his family and close friends were aware since he had insisted on no acknowledgment of the degree he could now claim. It wasn’t like he was using it for work anyway beyond stupid little things.
when Seung brought up his Ancestor the young man could only shoot his friend a look full of questions and yank his mind back to their current surroundings, besides it was a hell of a lot more interesting than thinking about the pencil tower he built while reading through documents. Just what kind of request could a thousand year old shade of the past knight want from his successor? Green eyes took in the line and the people around them, weary about being overheard. “You know you just gotta ask. Let's get the drinks first then talk about it.” Neither had said anything revealing or even questionable but better safe than sorry. “So what would you recommend here?”

He really shouldn’t be surprised Quinn had looked into things which could help him, the other was thoughtful and caring like that, it was good to also know that there were options and perhaps better ones than what he’d gotten. He did wonder what they’d used for light in the past, candles couldn’t have been it, but whatever it was he was clueless on what he could do with it even if he found out.
“Thank you, I will read it over and put as much to use as I can.” It would help a lot to be able to get things done up at his wonder, anything to make it safe and habitable again...at least enough that people could safely visit. He wanted to be able to bring friends and family up there and explore and not have the darkness be an issue, or lack of something come up and ruin the time up there. “It will help to bring things back up. Safe to bring friends up then to enjoy the wonder.” Though he wa sure he’d never be able to make it look like it once had, that would be impossible, he did plan on doing what he could while turning the living quarters, slowly, into a place he could call his...though it was odd doing that with his ancestor there also.
Glancing about at the people waiting to place orders he tilted his head for a moment, dark eyes reading over the posted menu. “For cold drink I like bubble tea.” Something he always enjoyed and had done his best to introduce Quinn to, he’d set about introducing him to a lot of things on the trips to Korea - he would introduce him to anything he could. “For hot...teas are good, floral ones are nice but also fruity ones…Less picky with teas.” Coffee was good also but he had a feeling Quinn drank too much of the stuff, and he understood why, so he wasn’t mentioning coffee or espresso. Bubble tea and tea were the options he was offering to the other. He figured they were at least a bit healthier than the coffee the other consumed.
“The request...won’t be easy...and wouldn’t ask normally but for one as old and honored….” He would like to try and he would seek help. He knew it would be hard to accomplish the fulfill the request, maybe even impossible, but he’d try at least...and owe Quinn a bunch of favors for it.

Quinn eyed the menu board, please to see the flavor balls alongside the typical tapioca balls that made up bubble tea. He liked bubble tea, just not the jelly like ‘bubbles’ of tapioca. “I think I’ll go with bubble tea. We can always swing back for something hot later. Or decamp to ‘someplace’ warmer.” He emphasized ‘someplace’ to make it clear to his companion that he meant Havasu Falls, his wonder, where they could warm up without worrying about shops being closed or anyone spotting them. “Nothing worth having is ever easy.” He shrugged and stepped up to the counter, further discussion on the request would have to wait until they were away from civilians. There were just to many ears around. Even if someone overheard them and had no clue what they were talking about it only took them gossiping to someone who was in the know for the results to become disastrous. At least that always seemed to happen in movies and comics. What was that phrase from World War II? ‘Loose lips sink ships’? Or something like that.
Once they were away from the crowds, drinks in hand, Quinn watched as the last of the people passed them by. Anyone close enough to hear them now had to be using supernatural means, and even that seemed pretty unlikely. “So, whats the request?” He took a sip of his melon flavored bubble tea, savoring the bursts of strawberry as one of the flavor ‘bubbles’ popped on his tongue. “God it feels strange but it tastes so good.” He hummed in happiness as he took another deep gulp of the drink. “You know I’ll do what I can. I’m sure between the both of us we can figure out what ever the old man wants.” It wasn’t polite to call Seung’s ancestor a ‘old man’ but it was still kind of accurate and had the added benefit of obscuring what they were talking about, not that anyone was around to hear them.

Like Quinn he too had gone with a bubble tea, even though it was cold outside, it was something he enjoyed drinking. He knew he might regret it later, due to the coldness of the drink plus it being cold out, but the offer of going to the others homeworld, which was warm, was a bonus really and would counter being sol cold due to the weather here and the drink.
He was right, nothing worth having was easy to get, at least in most cases, and this was one of those cases. He just wondered if it would be possible.
Drink in hand he followed the other out and away from all the people. “Seems ancestors, other Venice knights, were buried home...not up there - on Ganymede. Buried with family...proper burial.” Trailing off to have a sip of his own drink. It was something he’d grown up with and enjoyed, having the little bubble come up the straw and into his mouth. Chewing on them and the flavor. It was all good, as far as he was concerned. “Don’t know where his body is right now, I’ll find it, but he wants it brought here...and buried back home.” Seung was one of those who came from a long line of knights...and they’d all come from the same country. So somehow he had to get a body to South Korea. Quinn would, without a doubt, understand the problems with this request and how hard it would be to fulfill...but he wanted to at least try.

“Home?” Quinn almost choked on his drink at Seung’s request. “Like here in the city right?” The young man nearly begged but he feared that the other knight ment Korea, he just hoped that ‘home’ was South not North. There was going to be so many issues as it was if Seung ment South Korea, no way they could deal with the North. Not even all the money in the world could help if that was the case.
Granted all of it was a moot point if there was no actual body for Seng to find. Its been over a thousand years, what was there to actually locate? Quinn took another sip of his drink, mulling over the problem. Overall it didn’t really matter, he had said he would help so he would. The young man mentally made a list of all the things he would have to start digging into like the various laws they would have to follow, who they would have to talk to, and what they would have to fill out. Quinn just hoped it wouldn’t be as difficult as he feared it would be. He really didn’t want to be arrested bringing human remains into a foreign country and trying to explain that they were from a distant ancestor from long long ago who requested via ghostly presence to be returned from outer space to his homeland. He would likely end up in a padded cell.

“Here as in Earth but not here on Earth.” He answered, moving to rub the others back before the other could choke on his drink. “Families once were buried together, was common, not so much now - not enough land. He knows this but still wants what was proper.” But to be buried with family, at least in the same general area, was what his ancestor wanted. He understood it but he also knew how hard of a request it would be to fulfill. He had explained it to his ancestor and hoped he understood how impossible it was.
“I can help with legal things...reading and talking to people if needed.” Since most of it would be done in Korean. It would be easier for him, even though Quinn’s Korean wasn’t bad, it would make things faster...maybe anyway. “Transporting such an old body might be hard to explain...so old and not having been buried here on Earth.” Meaning it might be in a different state of decomp than it should be, maybe it wouldn’t just be bones. He didn’t know...magic might just be involved for all he knew. But also such an old body might just gain curiosity for other reasons - it was ancient after all. None of this was going to be easy.

Quinn just sighed and scratched his head. Man did Seung know how to ask for hard a** s**t. “Let's not put the cart before the horse dude. First locate his remains, then we will deal with the rest.” If they were lucky all they would be dealing with was ash. Please let us be lucky! he silently prayed as he finished up his drink, quickly tossing the empty container in a nearby trash can. “In the meantime I’ll do some poking around for the legal crap but just so you know…” He paused and looked at Seung rather seriously, “We might not be able to do it legally, or at all. I’ll do what I can but this isn’t exactly as simple as burying a pet in the backyard. It might even expose you and everyone else to the negaverse.” The more they had talked about it and the more he had thought on it the more Quinn realized that if they told the truth or even fudged it, even if they got locked up in a loony bin, someone somewhere would pass on the report to those that controlled the world. The same people they were fighting here in the city. The Negaverse.
God, talk about putting the cart before the horse! He was already starting to picture them getting caught and unpleasant things happen. With a sigh and a shake of his head Quinn turned away. “Let's table this until later, once we have more concrete info. Besides don’t we have some patrolling to do?”

“I agree - won’t be easy.” Though he was betting on a body, at least bones, to be what they’d be dealing with. If it was always the new knight burying the previous...and they were all from the same family. Then it gave him a good idea of what he would be looking at. Burning bodies wasn’t done back then, now yes due to space and such, so unless the body had turned to ash on it’s own...they had some remains to handle.
“I’ll get to looking...have places I haven’t seen at my wonder yet.” A lot of places. He’d ask his ancestor first, see if he would be willing to make things easy and tell him, he’d been good about helping him thus far. He really had no reason to think his ancestor would be unhelpful this time, unless he didn’t remember for some reason.
“It’s ok if not legal...but let me find remains first, might help better than.” Knowing what shape they were in, as he was sure there wouldn’t be some urn to bring back. Going about things the illegal way might not be good though...it might pull a lot of people into things that he didn’t want to pull into things. Similar ideas, scenarios, to what was going through Quinn’s head were going through his own as he let his thoughts wander, not a good idea really.
“Yes...patrol time.” And since his drink was finished, when he’d finished it he didn’t even know, he tossed the empty cup and made for an alleyway so they could power up in the darkness where they wouldn’t be seen.
