█ BACKGROUND ▬ Lavender was born in a small Faunus village just outside of Vale. She lived a rather simple farming life with her twin brother, being taught how to cook, clean, and sew by her father so she could be a good housewife some day. Growing up, she lived a fairly normal childhood... save for the fact that her mother, a war veteran with a serious case of PTSD, often drank. While their father was kind and almost doting to her brother and her, their mother often got argumentative when she got drunk, even violent. Whenever their parents fought, Lavender and Donnelly would hide in the house's storage cellar, huddling together and trying to ignore the shouting, door-slamming, and stomping. If they tried to intervene, they would often be rewarded with a backhand or fronthand.
As they got older, their father was home less and less. It was partly to avoid their mother, but also because he'd taken a job in Vale to try and support his wife's drinking habits. Lavender soon found that without her father around to abuse, her mother set her sights on her two children. Of course, ever the protective brother, Donnelly would stand up for his sister, and would usually get a smacking for his trouble. Lavender often stood by, crying helplessly as her brother stood stalward, taking his beatings from their mother just so she wouldn't have to. At that time in her life, she would've given anything to take those blows for him, so he wouldn't have to feel pain or bleed just for her sake...
Ultimately, Grimm are drawn to negative emotions. After 12 years of child abuse, domestic abuse, and alcoholism, Grimm invaded the village. A Hunstman investigated the mysterious silence the village had undergone and found Lavender and her brother Donnelly hiding in their cellar. He took them to Beacon and they spent the next five years living with him. Their time with him inspired them to become Huntsmen and Huntresses themselves.
