Volunteering was one way to get out of the house, and now that Cirrus didn't have a pending (constant?) heart attack about his children's health, Silver Lining felt less guilty about leaving him be. Though he would never willfully say it, it was nice to be away from family every once in a while. Unfortunately, today he traded one set of problems for another by visiting a nearby clinic. If a brother or sister did something, it was easy to forgive. It was a little less so with strangers who didn't give a whit on top of that.
And worst of all: there was a baby involved.
"You're a nurse?" the mother asked archly as she tried to soothe her crying kid. "You look a little young."
"No, um....I'm a volunteer. She's away right now. I just....m'just supposed to take..." Silver Lining quickly glanced at the chart. "Sweet Tooth's temperature," he finished slowly. The real nurse was running about the office doing several errands, as apparently today they were understaffed, and she had asked him to do a few simple tasks while she ran amok: take temperature, confirm patient's information, and turn on the machine so it'd be ready to take blood pressure when she returned. That supposed time seemed very far away at the moment.
And the baby's crying just made him more nervous.

idk starters hope this works!

This was nothing new to Mercy - where most Phonies put their energy into school, all of his was put into the clinics that needed the extra help. Sometimes it was as simple as playing courier between the locations, sometimes they'd let him actually help with bandaging and treatment - and if he was impatient and stoic enough, they'd actually train him in small procedures. He was a sort of assistant-slash-intern, and who needed school when you knew your calling as sure and loud as your name?
