By this point, for better or worse, Vash was starting to feel pretty cocky. It meant that he showed up at the mudpit with his chin up a bit, and his eyes sharp -- and only once he saw the mess did something start to collapse out of his face, turning to horror and disgust instead. He looked at the mud, and then down at his own clothing, and with a frustrated sound, started to strip down layers. "This is ******** disgusting," He offered to Gabby, as he pointedly took off his shoes and setting them aside. In the end, when they started fighting, he wanted to be in nothing but his t-shirt and (regrettably) his jeans. 'paocx Feel free to just start attacking, to get this moving! Init is yours!

Gabby's face was one of relative disgust as well when she saw the field they were to fight in next. She could be as rough and tumble as the next person, but in mud? She would honestly give a hard pass if she could, but it was a tournament which meant she had to be a good sport...so when Vash said what she was thinking she sort of smirked.
"Agreed," was all she could think to say as she slipped out of a couple of layers as well.
When they were both good and ready she did her best to find some footing in the mud before lunging at the other hunter, aiming for his trunk. With how slippery the mud, though, she wasn't surprised when she slipped and missed and took a dive.

Maybe barefooted had been the right choice for the fight -- because when Gabby went down, Vash managed to keep his feet, firing off a quick shot in response in Gabby's direction. It wasn't a great shot, but it collided at least. HP: 40/40 DMG: 4

She grimaced a bit when Vash's weapon made contact, but she really couldn't complain either. While slipping and sliding still, she flailed her sword a bit to try and keep her opponent at bay. Even if she hit air, she could only hope Vash would steer clear until she was up on her feet.

He darted a couple quick steps back and fired off another shot -- a really solid shot, this time, the bolt of energy striking against her chest -- and frowned at her. "Are you trying?" It was meaner than he intended, though at least it sounded more confused than mocking. Vash didn't take it back. HP: 40/40 DMG: 7

The grimace only deepened when his attack was once again successful, and she--now thankfully on her feet--took the brunt of it to her chest. The impact forced her to take a few steps back, and she shot Vash a frown for his words.
"I am, believe it or not," she sighed and took several steps forward, brandishing her sword and finally at least grazing him when she swung at his arm. Which was fine, as long as she got some kind of hit in.
"This mud just really sucks. Plus it might just not be my day."

She did as he suggested and slipped out of her shoes, though she took another hit for pausing. The girl winced but now that she was free from her shoes she darted toward him with just a bit more ease, and she slashed at him again with more success this time than earlier.
"Thanks for the tip," she smirked.

The shot grazed her shoulder this time but she didn't seem too fazed by it. There was a brief pause to process the stinging on her shoulder now, but she followed right after him, aiming her sword for his chest this time and swinging in an upward, diagonal motion.

She got hit again but couldn't help but giggle at his joke, even if it did sound like he was more annoyed than amused. "Don't wanna," Gabby said as she stuck her tongue out before lunging in and slashing at him.

The stuck out tongue got a little flicker of uncertainty, which is probably what made Vash pause long enough for her strike to hit. He regained himself a moment later, scowling as he shot back. HP: 23/40 DMG: 3
