Aue's next opponent was not unknown to him as the first had been. Another captain, yes, but this time it was Tourma's favored. Uvarovite. Aue knew him well enough to respect his strength and to know he wasn't in for an easy time, unless by some miracle the other man had been utterly trashed by his previous opponent.

"Uvarovite." The Finn didn't smile, but his scowl wasn't as deep as it might have bee, indicating that he didn't absolutely despise the other combatant. "Tourmaline should be pleased by this."

In the spirit of combat without grudges, the corrupt came over to shake his hand and clap Uva's shoulder in a gesture that was meant to be welcoming, not hurtful. Oops.

Uvarovite would have preferred to have a bit more time than they were allowed between rounds. It would have made more sense to let combatants rest, perhaps for a day at least, between things but that didn't seem to be the case. They expected combatants, and starseeds, to be able to handle things.

That may have been fine if his first fight hadn't been as rough as it was.

Aue was not likely to go easy on him either despite the fact that they knew each other. He remembered their first scrap well. When Aue's hand clapped down on his still sore shoulder he barely covered a grimace, reaching up to wrap his hand tight, far too right, around the senshi's wrist and move it off him.

"I am sure she will adore it."

Discomfort shot up his arm at the way Uva gripped his wrist, so he took space between them as quickly as possible. It seemed neither had had an easy first round of it and momentarily Aue cast his mind back through his mental list of whom his fellow packmates and allies had been lined up with. Moonstone.

Yes, that would do it. She was not known for gentle treatment to anything but her personal Youma, Wasgo.

Not unkindly, Aue felt his chances were slightly evened. Moonstone's brutal attacks would have ground Uvarovite down some, even with starseeds - a complete loss wasn't as likely now. A loss, yes. But an utter failure? Less so.

"In that case, let's not make her wait any longer." Aue gave Uvarovite a short nod and then sent a right-left punch combo his way, his left arm's movement hampered by the gauze wrap running along it. Damn his not having sleeves, it exposed an obvious wound to enemy eyes. Ah well, he'd deal - he would have to, now wouldn't he?

He caught sight of the bandages wrapped around Aue's arm when the senshi moved, taking note that he wasn't the only one who had suffered in the first round of fighting. The senshi would still have muscle and mass over him but it took solace in knowing that the senshi wouldn't be at his best either.

It would make things a bit more even.

Despite that Uvarovite wasn't exactly in the proper shape to take on another opponent and couldn't move fast enough to do more than block the punch. Unfortunately for him blocking it meant jarring his arms again and a shot of pain through his shoulder.

Feeling the pain simmering The Pet pulled itself out of the ground, looming over Uvarovite and eying the senshi. It didn't make a move yet but was warily watching the pair to see if it needed to intervene.

Aue had one thought, and one thought only as he watched the hideous video-game mid-boss rising from the arena to stand by Uvarovite like it was waiting for him to twitch so it could lunge and devour him ******** this.'

It wasn't against the rules though, so apparently it was fine and dandy that Tourmaline's favorite summoned a monster to turn a PvP into a 2v1 skewed battle. The Finn took only a small amount of consolation in the knowledge that Uva's creature would probably not kill him without permission, which Uva was unlikely to give seeing as this was a ******** sport tournament and not an actual deathmatch.

Aue's brows knit close and he flexed his fingers. He didn't know how strong the beast was - what he did know was that dusting an officer's personal youma could be utterly devastating to them. Maybe a taste of what was in store might convince Uva to put the ******** white wyrm back in it's birthing pit? "You know that's ******** dirty pool, old man. Was the Viagra not working so well anymore?"

A flick of his fingers and the corrupt senshi called up his basic magic, drawing the weaker casting up like breathing and sending it soaring at Uva and Pet with a sharp sort of satisfaction and also the intent to get a read on man and Youma's reaction to the floral-acidic assault. "Petal Flurry!"

Grymoire
(Basic Stage) Petal Flurry
Aue summons a flurry of lemon blossoms that burst apart, petals flying at the enemy to cut (a la lots of tiny paper cuts) and then dissolve into lemon juice, which stings like a biatch in the fresh petal-cuts. The burning/stinging effect lasts for 20 seconds and is most effective if it hits the victim's eyes. :>

Per BSSM canon, Aue can perform this attack 2x per battle.

This was stupid. The match was stupid. Aue was stupid. Everything was stupid.

Kamacite sat, hunched over with one elbow on his knee, chin in his hand, while he held his tablet out in front of him to record the fight. Why? Because apparently Aue had recorded his fight so he could watch it later and maybe learn from his mistakes, but hadn’t bothered to suggest filming him in the bloodiest almost death match anyone could have expected out of the tournament. After that, anything else should be a cakewalk.

Which meant it was extra stupid and whoever decided to do this tournament was stupid and Kamacite was trying not to scowl too hard at the ring because it was giving him a headache.

But he kept looking over Aue’s uniform where he knew his wounds were to keep an eye out for blood that might indicate staples or stitches coming loose.

Now if they would stop fooling around, that would be great.

And almost as soon as the thought crossed his mind, Aue decided to unleash his magic on his opponent. Kamacite lifted his head up a little from the palm of his hand, but it seemed as though this was just the less powerful version of the magic Aue had used before.

Was it because he was still tired?

Maybe they would both tire out before more blood could be drawn.

She'd been present for the fight between Moonstone and Uvarovite, just as she had been present for Aue against the brute. She had watched each round intently, heart leaping and sinking in accordance with the actions of each bout.

General Tourmaline had expected to be more excited at the prospects of a rematch between Aue and Uvarovite. Both of them had rose in rank since she'd first pit them against each other, both learning and growing in the ways of the Negaverse-- in the ways of their pack. It wasn't the Pack with an uppercase 'P' the way it once had been-- they didn't call themselves wolves, or release their teammates like dogs. They did hunt in packs, however, and they made certain to learn each other's strengths and weaknesses in an attempt to support each other more fully. It was a process, but it was something, and she would take something over nothing any day of the week.

Tourmaline did not want to see either man hurt further, and certainly not by each other's hands currently. The field medics had done as they could to patch each one up. Starseeds had been consumed and energy absorbed as each man had been put on the fast track towards healing. Neither were at one-hundred percent, yet here they both were.

For once, Tourmaline was somber, silently observing a fight she wasn't sure she wanted either man to 'win'.

The look on Aue's face when his Pet appeared was worth the stinging pain from the earlier hit. Moonstone had taken him summoning his Youma as another challenge, something to be overcome, Aue on the other hand as looking at him like he'd cheated.

"Just prolonging the pleasure, that's all." He smirked at Aue's jab. He could take on the senshi himself but he had been training Pet to work better with him and there was never a good excuse not to continue it's training. A fight where no one was allowed to kill was better.

Uvarovite was expecting the magic, remembered it well, and sent Pet out wide with a flick of his hand so he would take the brunt of the magic rather than his youma. He needed his Pet to last. The petals stung just as he remembered and he hissed as one cut across his cheek.

The Pet hissed, swinging around the edge of the arena, a few petals catching on it's tail, as it moved. Pinning the attacker closer to Uvarovite had worked earlier so with a speed that belied it's size The Pet lashed out, jaws snapping around Aue and throwing the Senshi out of it's way before the creature curled around it's master again.

Well, that had not gone as well as he'd wanted. Obviously Uvarovite was trying to keep his Youma from being mauled. A weakness to be exploited, just like his shoulder was a weakness to be exploited. Just like Aue's own injuries from his first round fight against Seraphinite were all exploitable things that he'd expect Uva to use against him - should he discover them.

Only, it wasn't the man that caused the larger problem, it was the ******** youma. Jaws closed around him, around already damaged skin, reopening part of his stomach wound as the beast threw him like a ragdoll; Aue hit the ground hard and rolled as Uva's Pet went to comfort it's master.

s**t. Not good. Already not good. That thing has a nasty bite. But he pushed to his feet and wiped at his face, ignoring the growing wetness spreading at his middle. Black hid red well enough, for now. Aue spat Finnish invective in his opponent's direction and strode back towards the huddle of man and beast, happy that his magic had range as he brought his hands up and cast again, "Petal Flurry."

It was important to keep distance as he could - sucked to have to rely so much on his magic, but hey - you did what you had to do to survive. That was how s**t went, especially when some jackass brought a living weapon into the ring go with the other living ******** weapon.

Uvarovite set a hand on his Pet's head as the youma came back to him, patting it gently for a job well done. "Keep out of range of his magic. I need you to keep safe more than I need you to protect me." He kept his voice low but had a feeling Aue knew enough to pick up on what he was doing.

If Aue dusted the Pet then he was far less able to attack. It meant taking the brunt of the magic himself but as long as his youma could keep attacking he would fare better.

Sending his Pet away and taking a moment so summon his weapon meant he didn't have time to properly react to the magic or make an attack of his own. His clothing kept most of the petals from him but those that connected did in fact hurt. A few managed to lodge through his coat, digging into his injured shoulder before soaking the cuts in acid. It wouldn't do to keep getting hit but he wasn't nearly as young as his opponent.

His age was going to be his downfall in all this eventually.

Tourmaline was on her feet the moment Pet got its jaws around Aue and it was all she had in her to keep from leaping over the edge of the arena and running out there to punch the stupid skull-snake with arms right in its ******** nose before it could get to Aue. Her eyes were gleaming, weapons ready as she fought with herself over whether or not it would be kosher to intervene.

Aue wouldn't have agreed to move on to round two were he not capable of competing.

Aue didn't know that stepping in to round two would mean going against Uvarovite and his creature-- a beast she usually had respect for when it was protecting what she cared about.

"I swear to--- I am going to kick both of your asses from here until next week. Pet, leave Aue alone!" It wouldn't listen to her, Tourmaline knew that, but yelling seemed better than getting both men thrown out of the tournament by directly interfering.

He could hear Tourmaline's voice - was she admonishing the creature? Was it's name Pet?

Aue didn't take time to think on it too hard, Uvarovite was presenting himself nicely as a target, so he dipped back in to give another series of punches, short and tight into the older man's body, solid and sharp while he was still distracted by the acid sting of his magic and while the damned monster was still running away to escape potentially being dusted.

He'd take what he could get, those ******** teeth, never mind the ******** claws he'd seen.

Hearing Tourmaline's voice and her admonishment at his Pet was interesting but he knew he couldn't honor her request entirely. He wasn't in proper shape to deal with Aue himself. Yes his Pet was a crutch he leaned on but he did so with good reason. He could see the way Aue was favoring his side and knowing what had happened to himself in his previous fight he could only guess.

She would have to forgive him.

Uvarovite didn't have much time to get out of the way of Aue's fists but unfortunately for the senshi he wasn't given much time to get in a good hit either. The Pet didn't stay away for long and as Aue closed in on it's master it closed in on the Senshi. "Legs!" he snapped as his Pet reared up behidn Aue.

One large clawed hand lashed out, catching the senshi's legs and swatting him away from the Captain again before the creature started to circle once more.

Pet came back in. Aue heard a command shouted - 'Legs!' - and then he was down again, rolling far away from youma and captain and groaning because with each revolution it jarred not only the wound across his stomach but the one that ran across his shoulder and down his arm from Seraphinite's ******** winged blades. It also made his broken nose shift and crackle unpleasantly.

Pain pulsed like a living thing through his body. This time he ended up on his back, staring up at the purple hues that coloured almost everything in Negaspace and wondering at the intelligence of getting up. Part of him kind of wanted to stay down.

But then, he was a Finn. Sisu wouldn't allow it. This was a game - he would see it through, dammit.

Aue got back up.
