It had been an...interesting week, to say the least. Caitlin finally learned the details of things she had long suspected: magic-powered people were waging a war of sorts, in secret, across the city, and had been for some time. She had access to much more information about it now, but, to be honest, it did not make her feel safer. Much less, in fact. Still, it was a difficult thing to figure out what exactly to do with the information. She had experimented some with her new Senshi powers recently, but hadn't really done much with it. She was not the sort to go seeking trouble, though she would happily beat it into the ground if it came to her. As had happened tonight. One of those Youma creatures turned up while she was heading home with the remains of her dinner. It was a small, weak thing, nothing too bad, although if she had met it before she could turn into Sailor Hypatia, it might've been a problem. The youma was already gone, although it had scraped her good, so she made her way to the top of a building to watch the city lights (the effortlessness of doing that was still amazing), and use her new senshi magic to get rid of the scrapes on her arm--a ball of water, happily not the temperature of the air--was being slowly rubbed along a cut as she realized there was one of those auras nearby, and approaching. From what she knew of the auras, it was probably friendly...but still, she faced that direction to see just what would greet her tonight.

Work had kept Roddy surprisingly late tonight. And by late it was only 7:30PM. But the sun had set and the air was cold, and to him, it felt plenty late. He had originally meant to be home early, but such was life and he didn't mind an excuse to check the route home before he and Julian went out to find dinner. They lived plenty close enough to the food district so when the weather was nice (despite feeling cold as all hell), a walk did them both good. Especially since he had gotten a little too happy with the Cheetos recently.
And while he did so, he had powered up, muttering a laughing curse at his powers for having him be shoeless in this icy weather, so he tried to make sure he wasn't powered up for long. And yet, as always he felt someone nearby, and as a father (not really, but he might as well call himself that), he was compelled to go check them out to make sure they were alright.
To his almighty surprise, when he finally made it up to the person on the rooftop, it wasn't a child there, but a grown woman, holding a ball of water to her forearm. Given her uniform, it must have been her power, but what an cold power to have right now.
"Good evening. Are you doing alright? Practicing your magic, perhaps?"

"Evening," Hypatia replied lightly with a slightly bow. "Yes, I'm alright. One of those...youma tried to attack me. It didn't go very well for it, but," she paused, and showed the spot she was holding a ball of water on, where the remains of a cut could be seen gradually fading. "I am not especially good at fighting, supernatural or otherwise." The cut disappeared entirely a moment later, so she lifted the ball of water off, and casually tossed it away. It splashed on a nearby surface, then was gone. "This is all very new to me, you see," she shook her head slightly and smiled, sizing up the man. He clearly worked out. "Sorry, where are my manners? My name is...Hypatia. I am," she apparently was not used to identifying herself as she was, as she paused again, "The Senshi of the Reefs." With a small stamp of her foot, she added, "And I'm a bit cold, but not as cold as I'd expect in this dress..."

"Terrible little beasts they can be at times, for certain. I'm glad you came out alright." His mind briefly wandered the the purified youma he knew, but that wasn't quite the same. Bazzite had known how to talk and not attack him, which wasn't at all the same as these other creatures that went around mindlessly.
His eyebrows raised, impressed at the healing powers her magic had. How incredibly useful that must be...
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Hypatia. I'm Manu, Page of Chronos." With how often he had introduced himself he probably should just get business cards and keep them in his subspace... "The Reefs... Very nice indeed. It matches your dress as well. I wonder if it's the warm waters that flow about the reefs that helps to keep you warm. It may be a bit of a stretch, but not a bad way too look at it."
He shifted in place a bit, still cold and wanting to shift back into his warm fuzzy coat as Roderick, but the girl did look like she was practicing her magic so..
"If you'd like, I would not mind sparing with you for a while. I can fight decently well, I think, been in a scrap or two, so it may be of some use eventually."

"Seems as good a reason as any," Hypatia responded, thinking about warm waters. "I wouldn't mind some tropical warmth about now. That water I had before was warm, at least." "Hmm, sparring," she said in a musing tone, then nodded. "Sure. That sounds like a good idea. I should at least know how to deal with things on a basic level, right? I think from the way my magic works, though, I'm not meant to be going in punching bad guys in the face, but...never know, right?" She looked down at her shoes. "Fighting in heels will be awkward, though." She sighed dramatically, a small quirk of her mouth suggesting it to be not entirely genuine. "Ah, the things we do for beauty." She took a step back, and lifted her fists. "So, then, how do you want to do this?" Then she glanced around. "Though, maybe we should find somewhere...warmer first?"

"Not every person who's out there has magic, however. As a page, I don't have any, and am much more likely to physically fight than anything else. So yes, physical fighting is a must in this world, especially if whatever magic you have runs out." The basic details of senshi he knew included the fact that there was a limit to how often they could cast their magic, and it wasn't very often either. If someone didn't know how to fight after they ran out, well, they were out of luck.
"Ah.. Yes, fighting in heels is going to be unpleasant. Think of it this way, atleast your feet are slightly protected from the the cold cement while you go about your night." For emphasis he lifted his bare foot and wiggled it. He really shouldn't be out here for much longer... Placing it back down, he put his own fists, and got into a ready stance.
"I think we can fight here just fine. We can make it quick, that way we can both go somewhere warm and stay there once we're done. Would you like to strike first or shall I?"

With a wan smile, Hypatia nodded with the idea that at least her feet had a bit of protection against the cold. "Alright, then. I guess this would be how to start things off!" she says definitively, and moves in close for just a plain, simple punch. Of course, it has the backing of Powered Person force, so it's not a wimpy little punch--not that she'd punch like a wimp normally. It's just that directly fighting was honestly not something she'd really ever done. Hopefully tangling a bit with a guy who knows a thing or two would do wonders for her form. At least, that was her hope. A pretty reasonable hope at that.

The first punch was thrown and Manu immediately retaliated, grabbing the woman's smaller fist and pulling her forward, pushing her over and forcing her to the ground. It didn't really take much to do so, given the fact that he was far taller than her and had a much more... Sturdy physique than she did. He did do his best not to actually hurt her, however.
"Take care not, not everyone will be vulnerable to a simple punch. You're smaller than most, so use that to your advantage. Figure out how you can take out someone my size with ease. Point of pressure, vulnerabilities. Quick openings and always remember your elbows." On and on he went, going through the motions, explaining softly what the best method of fighting would be for her size. This wasn't the first time that Manu had worked through these steps either. He had children to teach too. The world wasn't safe for them anymore... Perhaps it never was. And even if he couldn't make the world safer, he could try to make sure they were atleast prepared, the same way he was doing for Hypatia.
After a good long bout of going back and forth, sparing, teaching, and generally learning for one another, Manu couldn't take it much anymore, and stepped back, breathing hot air into his hands to warm them up even a little bit.
"So... I believe we can call this a night. I think I'm as cold as the arctic now... It's time to power down and put some shoes back on."

Hypatia nodded at Manu's suggestion, and was very greatful that he knew--or at least seemed to know--what he was talking about on all these matters. She always dives into anything she resolves to do with a passion and drive, so she listened attentively to each of his instructions, watching motions carefully. There was much to learn, and much practice to have before she would consider herself anywhere near good, but at the very least, she was starting to get the basics of what he taught her. By the end, she was a bit more tired than she'd expected to be this particular evening...but that was alright. She learned something, and that was always a plus. "Yes, I think that would be good," she replied with a nod when he announced that was enough. "Thank you for your guidance, Manu. I may have to find a martial arts instructor for myself. And if you ever need help, I'd be more than happy to assist. Uhm...if we have a proper way of getting in touch? Itsuki showed me the senshi phone, but I don't think that works for you 'knights', does it?" She shrugged. "Well, I'll keep a eye out, anyway." Kapoodles Training Montage Music Here.

"It was a pleasure to help you this evening. With the growing number of powered folks like us, there's also been a rise in the number of professional instructors in this town, so finding a proper place to train shouldn't be too hard, that I promise you." It seemed like on every street corner there was a different school for martial arts. Aikido, karate, tae kwon do. It was all over, and it was for the best. They all needed to learn how to protect themselves, whether powered or not.
"Sadly, no... But I'll be around. I don't live too far from here, and power up nightly, even if it's only briefly, so I'll be around. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for you too, should you need me. I hope one day we'll have a better form of communication between us Knights and the Senshi out there." At that, he actually powered down, giving an inward 'hallelu!' at finally having something on his feet. "My names Roderick, if you're curious. I do not mind you knowing this side of me either. Now this side of me is ready to go home and warm up, so please, have a pleasant evening."

Hypatia blinked in surprise at the shift. It was interesting how he somehow looked both the same and like an entirely unrelated person. Magic is strange. "Good to meet you, Roderick," she replied, and also powered down--into a much more practical outfit. Looked expensive, too. And, importantly for her right now, no high heels. "I'm Caitlin. And I agree. It's long past time to head home. At least I already ate." She sighed lightly. "I think it's time for a hot chocolate. Good night, Roderick." With pleasantries done, she headed off into the night.
