Every day since Sergei had told her about Olga being missing, Nadia had taken each letter her friend had written her and cried that she did not have the cheerful woman again. She had been suspicious when Olga had stopped coming around, and after Christmas, she had been so caught up in retrieving her apartment, stablizing her income and sort of playing around with Hurst that....
That she had just expected Olga to be there, harassing Sergei. Going on their powered lives. She had been worried when Olga hadn't showed up for Beringia's wonder trip too, but she just couldn't put her finger on why.
Now....Now it all made sense.
The usually lazy happy woman had been reduced to a rubble of tears and hate. If the negaverse had taken Sedna, they had taken her friend, and she knew what happened to those who had been forcibly taken. They forgot their friends...their families.
Olga would forget about her...and their 10 years of friendship.
Her phone pinged every now again, and the few times she had checked was either Sergei, who she refused to talk too or Hurst, who her responses had been short and clipped. She didn't think she had the emotional capacity to take that Sedna was gone.
She collected the letters again and put them on the counter, as neatly as she could, trying not to ruin the paper.

Hurst didn't have that many people in his life he genuinely cared about. That, of course, had been all by design, stemming from daddy issues he knew he had from when he was a child. Thus also making a point to avoid anyone who tried to get close to him during times such as these, he didn't think he had the necessary, ah, capabilities to be of any comfort. Still, in this case, he had to try, because it did involve the sister of someone he genuinely cared about. He figured he might have a shot, since Sergei was getting the cold shoulder and he was getting replies at least. The man stopped outside the door to Nadia's apartment and paused for only a moment before wrapping his knuckles on the door. Under his other arm were a few boxes of strawberries dipped in dark chocolate. Comfort food. Also possible bribery for entry.

Nadia didn't know who was at her door, but since they had knocked, she only thought it polite to answer.
As she opened it, prepared to tell the person to go away, she looked up to a certain redheaded friend and scowled. "Hurst." Not that she didn't want to see the man, it was just....also not the best time. Especially since he was more Sergei's friend.
Her eyes dropped to the candy though and she squinted, before looking back.
"Did Sergei send you?" Depending on his answer, would earn him entrance into her home.

Hurst raised his hand in mock solemnity. "No, he did not. Scout's honor." Never mind that he had never been a scout in his life. "Though he's been pouting with the best of them, I did come of my own volition." No one should be alone when they were hurting, and that was just common sense...whether the person realized it or not. Since she looked at the treats he brought, he held them up for her to better inspect it, and a brow raised as well.

She would not put it past Hurst to lie about being sent by her brother, the man practically dripped charm and sauve half truths. However, for the benefit of the doubt and because he brought her presents for her pitiful sadness, she beckoned him in.
"I'm sure he has. And he will keep doing it until Olga is found." She wrapped her arms around her shoulders, trying to control the burning in her eyes. She didn't want to cry in the sometimes lovers arms.
"You brought me gifts." She gestured to the island where Olga's letters were piled up. "Let me pour some wine. What brings you by besides sweet treats?"

Hurst kept the thought well maybe he'll be pouting until the day he dies then to himself. He kept his silence for now, glad that the woman was allowing him entrance to her domain. He followed after, and drifted towards where she indicated. Of course he couldn't help but glanced at the pile of letters. It was easy for him to tell that they were written by Olga. He had seen her leave small notes and post-its in Sergei's place. Her handwriting was what his impression of her was: Open. Bubbly. Expressive. He set the boxes of dark chocolate dipped strawberries down, and crossed his arms. "Oh, just to offer up some company." He replied, gaze sliding away from the letters and instead back to the woman with the red and puffy eyes. He couldn't help but ask, curiosity definitely going to kill him one of these days. "Nadia...do you think there's a chance she'll come back? What is it they do to your kind, anways?" She was the veteran in all of this. If anyone would know, it'd be her.

Nadia wouldn't cold shoulder her brother for that long. But it might be a week...or two.
"Company helps." She opened the strawberries almost as soon as they touched the counter, nibbling on one as she watched his face. He had noticed the letters, and he had seen her in a vulnerable state. He had questions, she didn't mind that.
Usually.
"Possible." She bit into the strawberry, chewing for a moment as she collected the thoughts to disconnect enough. When Plou had left them, he had been forced as well, but knew who they were.
"They take the starseed, and fill it with chaos. So much chaos it breaks you." She looked away from him. "It tears away your idenity. It makes you a completely different person. We wouldn't be able to recognize her on the streets anymore, and she probably wouldn't know who any of us are. For the ones who willingly go though, they would remember their powered selves, if that makes sense?"
She finished the strawberry. Her jaw clenched, her eyes filling.
"Sometimes, they remember who they are as a senshi, and they know why they've corrupted, and why they betrayed, and some don't care. Some do." She wrapped her arms around, "But if it was Olga...If it was Sedna...she was probably forced. She'd have no memories of me...of Sergei. Of Methone or Beringia."
The first tear fell without her stopping it. "If they haven't killed her, they've made her a weapon."

He immediately regretted asking, and it wasn't purely for Nadia's sake and her pain. It was his own. Having found out that his beloved niece was also a senshi (still, what sick ******** made children do this kind of work?), hearing what could possibly be done to her made him sick. Hurst wasn't so caught up in that though that he wasn't paying attention to Nadia's body language. Ah. Crying women. He hated it. Hurst's arms unwound from his chest and he closed the distance to pull the woman into his embrace now. How could they even try to look, then? If that was how it went? "Well." He murmured to her hair. "Considering how hellbent she was on spending time with Sergei and keeping to their patrol schedule, it would have taken an act of deity capable proportions to tear her away." A small comfort? That she hadn't gone willingly. Small joke aside, and since he had made her cry again already by asking, he continued. "If you do manage to find her...is there a way to bring her back?"

A part of her wanted to push him away for making her think of it, the other part wanted the comfort that he offered by physically being there. When he came over, she stiffened, something abnormal for the woman before relaxing and letting her head rest in his shoulder.
"Perhaps she'll meet him again and find that spark that made her Olga again." She closed her eyes, "Yes. She will need to be purified." Her head turned, so she wasn't muffled against his chest. "She has to choose to be though, so we have to find her, show her the right side of order again...."
She shook her head, "If we do find her." A small deep breath, and the tears faded away, her mind clearing. If she cried, she wouldn't be able to look. "There is ways to stop corruptions too. Being transcendent, the glowing marks I have. I've heard that chibi senshi, the children senshi? They cannot corrupt either. Our Starseeds are too pure."
To comfort herself, she wrapped her arms around Hurst. "I'll have to look for her."

His hands rested in a respectful spot on her back, and his fingers laced together flat against it. He held her there, resting his cheek lightly on top of her hair. He stared at nothing in particular as he just listened and thought. There were too many perhaps and hopefully and maybes, and the realist in him, or maybe it was really a pessimist, decided this sounded like a needle in a haystack. A hopeless one. Sergei and himself may have been able to find the trail of clues that told them how Olga was lost, but what was the trail of clues for her to be found? Much harder. Maybe impossible (to him) even. "You think he'll go out looking in his ballet suit?" He asked softly. "He's cut back on his dances since she disappeared." He couldn't help it, but for a brief moment his body stiffened. Children senshi were immune to corruption? Okay. So maybe there was some benevolent force looking out for the children after all. Maybe. He forced himself to relax though, because while this brought some comfort, it didn't change the fact that Noah was still out there. Doing this stuff. In harm's way. "I'll do my best to keep an eye out." He replied.

Nadia narrowed her eyes.
"He'll go eventually. He's going to take the logical route first. Missing person cases. Look for her civilian clues first. He prefers the police work, over the ballet suit."
She had felt him stiffen, though she wasn't sure why.
She pulled back and brought her hands up to his face, searching his face for a moment. Hurst had a well schooled face, but she saw concern there and it had come as soon as children had been mention.
"Is.." Her mouth dried, "Is Noah...." She knew about Hurst niece quite intimately too, as the girl had met her when she had been well....hanging out. Powered lives almost always had relatives though....

He didn't have to see her face to know how whipped Sergei's sister had him from those words. But she made a good point, and he could easily see that. When Nadia said jump though, Sergei asked how high... He'd have to tell the man that one of these days, whenever the Russian was getting a little too big for his britches. He shifted as she pulled away, but only to take his face in her hands. They were soft and warm, and he couldn't help but give something of a wry smile when she read him. He'd been a little too lax in how he held himself, but Nadia was a very clever woman underneath the lazy smile. That cleverness made her even more appealing, but it also made him more wary. "She is." He replied quietly.

Concern immediately showed on her face, as she processed the information and filed it away. Noah being a chibi senshi was terrifying and it made the war all to real. And....it meant that Hurst would have no more options in avoiding the fight.
She knew how the chibi senshi were, hadn't Rhea been one of theirs as well? The small saturn moon senshi was just important to Nadia as any of the children that fought.
She was searching his face again, before leaning up on her toes and kissing him on the mouth.
"She will be safe." God she would vow on everything she was a senshi, "I'm sure she will not let you not let her power up either." Noah, in her meetings of the small girl, was headstrong and stubborn. Quiet but still....
"Hurst....I...." She didn't know what else to say, so she didn't, her mouth claiming his again. She didn't know how to comfort the man truly, even if he wanted it, and was selfish enough to know that she did want to be comforted. Between Olga missing, and now knowing that her friend's niece was in the war, it felt like the universe was just....screwing them over.
She pressed him to the couch instead, "how about.... " She said quietly, her hands shaking, for just a moment, she though, let me forget to grieve for a bit. "We stop. Come back to it later." she looked up at him, "For just one more moment."

"You don't know that, Nadia." He told her softly. Bluntly. Truthfully. Her friend hadn't been safe. They weren't. Noah wasn't, no matter how much he wished it so. That was just the way of things. But she was right. He didn't have a choice anymore to ignore it as much as he had been anymore. He hadn't moved into the kisses as she pressed her lips against his, but as she pressed him to the couch, he moved. There were no more words to say, and as her hands shook he reached to take them in his, to steady them. "One more moment." He agreed, and leaned down to kiss her.
