Seren trotted down to the beach for her Round Two match. She was grateful she did not have to mud wrestle, practically, this time, though she was not thrilled with the idea of fighting on sand. Sand was loose, sand moved, sand could be slippery. She had not battled in sand since the day they had gone to deal with the Creation Tree, and Atlantis. She did not like thinking about that, so she instead focused on heading to where the battle site was, and in. She looked around, and examined the ground she was going to be fighting on, then settled herself on her heals to await her opponent.

Gretchen was lagging just a bit behind. She'd taken one look at the robed off circle on the beach and had to run back to the dorms to swap out the athletic curve she'd been favoring lately for the original prosthetic she'd come here with. For most things the curve was better. It let her be faster, gave her more maneuverability and fluidity. However, it would not have been good in the sand. So, the foot was a better choice. Feet, really, since she hadn't bothered pulling her shoes back on as she'd rushed back out the dorms and down to the beach. "Sorry! I'm here. I'm here. Had'ta take care of something." Ducking under the robe, she summoned her staff. "Don't mean to keep ya waitin'," she drawled out, southern accent thick as honey. "I'm Gretchen, by the way. It's nice'ta meet'cha." Squaring up, she brought her staff up between them. "You ready?"

Seren watched the other woman approach, curiously, as she summoned her sword. She was surprised, though her expression did not show it, to see the prosthesis on her opponent. She mentally shrugged it off, however, because it wasn't her business, in the long run. "No worries, Gretchen. I am Seren. A pleasure to meet you as well. I was not waiting all that long, to be honest." She moved up a little closer, and gave a slight waist bow, then straightened. "As ready as ever." She said, and moved to await her opponent.

Introductions were short and sweet, and then Seren was indicating her readiness. It made Gretchen nod, smile slipping into something determined. "Alright. Here we go, then." She was still on that high from her previous win, energized and eager, and she threw herself straight into an attack that had the heavy end of her body staff slamming into the other girl's side hard enough to make her arms tingle with the force of it. In her head Devika was hissing in delight, finally impressed with bonded partner. Gretchen could feel her pride, and that was energizing too. HP: 50 DMG: 12

Noemi hadn't started her second round, so she came to Seren's to see her fight the huntress that fought with Milo!
She still didn't have a Seren flag but she did have the scarf and waved it for the girl....
But she also made sure to cheer for Gretchen too!

Seren took the hit, hard as it was, with an off, and a sliding step. She grinned at the other woman, then realized what an idiot she was. She hadn't summoned Diwata yet. WHAT the ******** was she thinking? 'HRHRHR I R REDEE!' without weapon in hand! Moron! She darted forwards, trying to summon Di as she moved, but between the weight of the HUGE sword, and the slippery sand under her feet, all Seren managed to do was windmill the damn blade in the air. As interesting as the town had been, Gretchen's second fight was scheduled to take place in a location that sounded far more Kenton's speed. He made his way down to the beach, surprised to find not only the woman who had been cheering for Gretchen's last opponent, but the one who had cheered for his as well. Dai's sister, apparently. Seeing as how Noemi was spreading around her support this time, Kent didn't say a word, silently stopping at her side to watch the action.

Realizing Seren hadn't had her sword had Gretchen blinking in alarm. "Girl, you said you was ready!" Well, she was now at least! Still, she felt a little bad for the initial blow being so, well, hard. The second was altogether softer. Giving seren a sporting chance to get her bearings. HP: 50 DMG: 1

"I thought I was! I have... NEVER done that before, I feel so stupid!" Seren almost wailed, unable to understand how the hell she had missed something so basic. She felt the tap and moved to try to hit again. It was like she had somehow completely lost everything she had learned in the past six months, because she was flailing like an idiot. She wanted to cry, she felt so stupid. The only thing that made her feel better was knowing that Dai, Lex and Rhys were not here to see her make an idiot of herself.

"Come on now, time to focus again." Seren was flustered, probably embarrassed, but this want the time for it. These fights might not have been all that serious, but they were an analog for the real thing, and good practice as well. Another tap, this time to her shoulder. Trying not to take too much advantage, but refusing to just give in as well. HP: 50 DMG: 1

Seren winced at Gretchen's words, because they were true. Very true. Seren knew that, all too well. She had done enough real combat, with enemies that actually wanted her dead, at this point to know that. Why was she so flustered and freaked out? She took the small tap, then slid back, trying to move out of range. She was not going to be able to get herself together if she just kept flailing. She accepted that this might mean she was going to lose, and lose quickly, but she needed to calm herself. She took a few, slow breaths, refinding her internal center.

"I apologize if I caught ya off guard and threw off your game." She certainly hadn't meant to, if that were the case. It seemed unsporting, even if Devika hissed through her mind that it was an advantage, and advantages should never be wasted. If a heavy hit had caused the problem, perhaps a heavy hit could solve it as well. Snap Seren out of whatever funk she'd fallen into. It was worth a try, at least. HP: 50 DMG: 10

"Not your fault, I just somehow lost track of myself." Gretchen's next hit had Seren widening her eyes, and whatever was distracting her suddenly snapped out of her head, because Seren suddenly found herself with a very heavy focus on the other woman. The hit was hard, and strong, but it did not faze her. Instead, Seren grinned wide, and said "That's it!" before darting towards her opponent. Diwata was raised up high, and Seren swung the blade in a wide, sweeping arc towards Gretchen's midriff, the blade catching the light a little as she made the attack.

Well that was more like it! The sword sliced across Gretchen's stomach, and she couldn't jump back fast enough to avoid the worst of it. A sizable chunk of her shield leeched away in the process. She let out a low whistle, gaze flicking up from her mid drift and back on Seren as a slow grin spread along her lips. Now it was a fight, and the woman had no intention of folding back any longer. She charged in, staff spinning over her head, before bringing it down in an over head smash across the other woman's shoulder. HP: 37 DMG: 11
