 The tournament is taking place in the Castle in Negaspace, in a large room that has been designated towards the event. It is very spacious and there is a ring where the participants will fight, as well as seats around it for viewers. You are greeted by General Aurostibite, standing off to the side to monitor!
The rules are simple: fight your opponent using whatever methods you have available to you - physical strength or magic - and whoever is left standing at the end is the winner! Aurostibite adds, in a tone of voice that doesn't quite indicate whether he's joking or not, to please try not to kill anyone.
OOC RULES:
- THIS FIRST BATTLE YOU WILL HAVE 96 HOURS (4 days) to complete because I am starting them early. The rest will be 72 hours. If you are unable to do so, or something happens that prevents things or slows you down, you can just roll the dice without adding in RP to determine the outcome. However, please do your best to RP out the battle, this option is only for those situations where it becomes necessary to do so.
- Dice rolling is mandatory! I know it can be frustrating but this keeps everything fair and even.
- Anyone is free to pop into a battle RP, they are open to spectators, whether you are participating in the tournament or not! Any Negaverse agent or Corrupt or Corrupt Cat is free to view the battles, regardless of whether or not they were in signups.
- If you have any questions, please contact kuropeco through Discord or PM!
THE MECHANICS
Each person roll 1d20 in their first post! The person with the higher number is the first to attack!
Lieutenant / Basics - 20 HP / 1d8-2 attack (a 0 is a miss)
Captain / Super - 30 HP / 1d10-2 attack (a 0 is a miss)
General / Eternal - 40 HP / 1d12-2 attack (a 0 is a miss)
( how it works: roll the dice - if you get a 4, subtract 2 = your attack is 2! and so on and so forth. If you get a 6, subtract 2 = your attack is 4! )
Roll dice -> RP out attack -> wait for opponent to attack back -> roll dice again until someone's HP is depleted first!
The person with HP remaining after someone gets to 0 is the winner!

Reinerite had felt somewhat obligated to sign up for this year's incarnation of the tournament given that her General was the one that had organised the event, but it was true that it was a good way to gain fighting experience - and that was something that she wasn't about to turn down–
And if she alsowas in it to make up for effectively being knocked out in the first round, it wasn't anything that Reinerite planned to admit to - at least not out loud.
There were other matches going on, some of which Reinerite hoped to catch in between her own matches - because damn it this time she was going to make sure that she was in more matches - such as the one that her General was taking part in and that Bloodstone was taking part in.
Leucite and Benitoite were also taking part and Reinerite was hoping to catch their matches too if she had the chance and wasn't fighting.
For now however she had her own match to focus on, that of a Captain by the name of Aquamarine.
She'd glanced at him as she pinned up her curls in a facsimile of a bun as she waited for the signal to begin from Aurostibite, the Captain not one she was familiar with and then after her General's small speech where he had asked that they try not to kill anyone she had given the other a small smile, her grey eyes cool as she asked "So shall we begin?"

Jet knew that Aquamarine would rather be doing other things. He wasn’t much of a fighter, if only because he had no interest in waving weapons around. Despite what he and others might think, Aquamarine did deserve the rank of Captain. He deserved more than that, even though he didn’t want the responsibility that came with it.
Having Aquamarine sign up for the competition wasn’t an easy task, but if he didn’t get practice in, he would never be able to grow as a fighter.
He didn’t say anything as the two Captains got into the ring, but instead sat and watched from the sidelines.

Aquamarine did not deserve the rank of Captain.
Not that he was ever going to admit that out loud. He wouldn’t even admit it to himself. Aquamarine liked to think he was the most deserving, because he put up with a lot of BS for the Negaverse — a group of psychotic maniacs he couldn’t even claim to like, much less trust. But Jet was a General, and Jet wasn’t psychotic (yet) or a maniac (yet), and Aquamarine actually kind of cared for him in a way that made him sort of uncomfortable and embarrassed, because feelings were gross.
So here he was, entering into a stupid tournament because Jet thought it would be a good idea. Aquamarine glared over at where Jet sat on the sidelines, far more focused on ways to piss Jet off or embarrass him than he was on the other Captain he’d been paired up to fight with.
At least until she spoke to him.

Aquamarine took a moment to glance over his opponent. He couldn’t say he’d ever seen her before, but then he didn’t make much of an effort to pay attention to or get to know his fellow agents. After all, he wasn’t in the Negaverse to make friends.
She looked pretty harmless, in Aquamarine’s opinion. He didn’t immediately get any psychotic vibes from her, at least, but he supposed she could always be good at hiding it. There had to be something messed up in her head if she was in the Negaverse. Unless she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time back when she was recruited. Or tricked into joining. Or she wanted revenge for something, like Jet did. Not that now was the time to be considering her motivations...
Aquamarine shrugged and rolled his eyes. “Yeah, ******** it. Let’s do this.”
He didn’t wait for her to respond before moving to attack. Though he lacked motivation, Aquamarine was at least quick on his feet. Dagger in hand, he rushed forward and came in low, aiming for Reinerite’s left flank.

The other Captain (Aquamarine) had initially seemed more interested in staring at the General (Jet) in the section that had been set aside for spectators - well at least up until the point where she had spoken to him–
But if his opening was anything to go on then he was fast - and he had no issue in resorting to weapons.
Speed was something that Reinerite relied on too however and tried to work on to the point that - whilst she wasn't able to fully dodge out of the way of the other Captain's rush - she was able to at least move enough to make the blow a more glancing one.
She summoned her staff to hand because using weapons was a game that two could play at and if the other Captain was going to use his then she was hardly going to resort to just hands and feet–
But instead of swinging out with the snowglobe end Reinerite reversed it and tried instead to hit the other Captain with the pole end.Current HP: 27/30 Damage: 4 ============= Sunshine Alouette it's totally ok :3 Apologies for the double-post and quote

A glancing blow was better than nothing, but not what Aquamarine was hoping for at all. Truth be told, he was hoping for a one-hit KO — probably an overestimation of his own abilities, but no one could really say that Aquamarine was humble. He didn’t want to be doing this to begin with, but here he was, being good, interacting with another agent, making somewhat of an effort to show that he was good for something other than whatever exaggerations Jet spouted off about him to try to make Aquamarine seem like a useful agent.
He was useful. Yup, absolutely. He got promoted to Captain completely on his own merit…
And also probably because Jet put in a lot of good words for him.
Aquamarine tried to jump back when Reinerite summoned her weapon, but he took a hit to the shoulder despite his best efforts. Carelessly, he paused for a split second to get a good look at her weapon, which looked like some sort of staff with… was that a snowglobe on top?
“What the ******** kind of staff is that?” he asked, brows furrowed somewhat as he made a rather listless swipe in Reinerite’s direction.

Whilst the other Captain (Aquamarine) tried to jump back, it didn't seem that he had quite accounted for the reach that her staff gave her which meant that Reinerite was able to give him a smart rap on the shoulder with the pole end–
And whilst perhaps the snowglobe end may have been able to cause more damage, Aurostibite had told them to try not kill each other.
She couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the Captain's question, a bit of amusement in her grey eyes as she said "Just a staff" a s she stepped out of reach at his second attempt to try and swipe at her, although there was no malice behind her words–
Not that it had been that difficult however, as there had been less power behind it than the Captain's first initial lunge - or at least it had certainly felt that way.
Reinerite swung with her staff, still using the pole end in an attempt to try and rap out at the other Captain's left leg, although even as she did so she realised that he wasn't quite in range for it to be of much effect.Current HP: 27/30 Damage: 1 =============

“Just a staff, my a**,” Aquamarine grumbled under his breath. Whether or not Reinerite heard him was of no concern to him.
He probably shouldn’t be too thrown off by the snowglobe staff considering the Negaverse sent a lot of their (untrained) Lieutenants out with utterly useless pieces of s**t for weapons, but it was just so… bizarre. If they were supposed to be fearsome soldiers hellbent on taking the Earth back from magical space invaders, a snowglobe on top of a stick didn’t seem like the way to do it.
But then what did Aquamarine know? He was just a Captain of little to no consequence.
He managed to step back in time to mostly avoid a hit to the leg. It grazed his uniform but seemed to do little else. Still, Aquamarine was annoyed. Why did he have to fight someone with a longer range weapon? How was that fair? Maybe he shouldn’t have given up fencing. Not that he really expected that would help him much with this. It would be nice if he had a proper sword instead of a dinky dagger, though.
While he attempted to determine some way to get around the staff, Aquamarine drew close enough to aim a kick at Reinerite’s ankle, hoping to trip her up and leave himself an opening for a better attack.

Aquamarine said something as he stepped back from her attempt to hit hit out at his leg with her staff, or at least Reinerite thought that the other Captain may have said something - although if he had then it had obviously been at mumble-level and thus too quiet for her to catch the words.
She hadn't been able to quite avoid the kick that he had aimed at her leg in retaliation, but it hadn't been a hard one and so whilst she had stumbled slightly Reinerite had also been able to recover herself relatively quickly.
She swung with her staff again, once again aiming for Aquamarine's leg, although Reinerite rather thought that she had managed to judge the distance better this time around as she put her weight behind the swing.Current HP: 25/30 Damage: 8 =============

Reinerite’s staff struck true this time and whacked against Aquamarine’s leg with a significant amount of force, enough that Aquamarine hissed in pain and went stumbling off balance. Despite his best efforts to remain on his feet, Aquamarine went crashing down to the floor of the ring, which would have been embarrassing if he actually cared about his reputation as an agent — or about this tournament.
He recovered quickly enough, taking the opportunity to kick at Reinerite’s ankle again. From his position on the floor, Aquamarine felt slightly more confident that he would manage to at least trip her up this time.
The furious glare that appeared on his face right then was caused far more by the situation than it was by his opponent, though in the heat of the moment there probably wasn’t much of a distinction between the two.

It would have been virtually impossible to dodge out of the way out of Aquamarine’s kick - and would have likely taken far more skill than Reinerite actually possessed–
Or a teleport, although she was trying to avoid the latter given the energy that it took out of her.
Knowing something was coming and actually feeling it were two different things however and Reinerite couldn't help but hiss as Aquamarine’s boot clad foot connected with her leg with enough force to cause her to lose her balance and topple.
In the split second when it become obvious that yes she was going over, she banished her weapon in an attempt to keep her hands free–
But even despite that she still hit the ground painfully, although it wasn't enough for Reinerite to consider herself out which was perhaps demonstrated in the way that she tried to kick out in Aquamarine’s direction in an attempt to try and give herself some space.Current HP: 19/30 Damage: 2 ============= Sunshine Alouette no worries Sunny, apologies for the delay on my end too - I finished late today

Aquamarine felt only mildly successful watching Reinerite fall. What did he hope to accomplish from this fight anyway? Nothing, really. He was here because he was encouraged to be here. Whether he won or lost hardly mattered to him. His motivation was always limited in a fight unless it was life or death, and since they weren’t trying to kill one another here, this match felt sort of pointless.
What satisfaction Aquamarine experienced was quickly overcome by annoyance. Reinerite’s foot grazed off of his shin once she was on the ground. At least she’d banished her weapon for the time being, which should allow him to get in for a closer hit without having to worry about dodging around it, but it wasn’t like his own weapon was useful for much other than stabbing people, and he didn’t think anyone actually wanted him stabbing someone during this tournament.
Rolling to avoid another hit, Aquamarine quickly sprung back upright. He kept his dagger in hand in case he should need it, but satisfied himself for the time being by continuing to battle with his feet. He kicked out at Reinerite again while she was down, aiming another hit for her side.

Reinerite gave another hiss as Aquamarine's booted foot made impact, her grey eyes narrowing–
She smiled, the smile that slipped onto her lips 'sweet', although it wasn't reciprocated in her eyes as she tried to opportunity of the other Captain's closeness and clamp her hand around Aquamarine's leg in order to give it a good yank.
Maybe it would work and maybe it wouldn't, but afterwards she dropped her hand and forced herself to her feet - because on the ground was not where she wanted to be–
And she had every intention of summing her weapon back.Current HP: 12/30 Damage: 6 =============
