Noemi had been back on the island now for a good amount of time and she was quickly adjusting to the routine of island life again. With Milo home now too, it made it easier for her to walk around the halls. After all, she could spend...lunch and dinner...and breakfast...and....free time with Milo.
Her face blushed and she shook her head. She really needed to see other people and she had saw, somewhere that Oliver was back as well. She had yet to hear about Shu, but that meant one of her best friends was still alive and well.
After telling Milo she'd be helping in the life labs, she took a small freezer bag with warm food she just prepared and headed to the life lab that Oliver was working in. As she stepped in though it...it...
"Ol...Oliver?!?!" She quickly came over to the slumped over boy, gently shaking him. On her way over, she was pretty sure she hit like....a case of empty mountain dew cans and empty chips.

Oliver was perfectly in his element. The lab room he favoured could barely be considered a lab room, more like a storage closet with desks and computers. The furniture was old and well worn, and the space was dominated by filing cabinets with old documents. It was quiet enough to nap, and get in some solid working hours while keeping himself awake. However, the combination of pop cans loudly rattling to the floor and being shaken had him awake in a flash, and nearly scrambling to his feet in fearful anticipation of facing whatever disaster had woken him. "I-Is everything o-okay?" He stammered, surprised to see Noemi there.

Noemi blinked as he startled awake and then set down the lunch box for him.
"I brought you some...." She looked around, her normal stutter not so present with her close friend, "Food. Real food." She smiled at him.
"Want to eat lunch? Do you need help cleaning in here?"

Oliver glanced around the room, his level of alarm slowly ticking down. Finally the shy smile came through. "Ah, no, I can pick up stuff later. Um..." He leaned over and quickly removed a stack of files from a nearby chair so Noemi also had a place to sit. "I-is it lunch time already? O-or did I miss it?"

Noemi eyed the fellow trainee before dropping the large bag full of food she had brought.
"It is lunch time!" She didn't take a seat right away, "You almost missed it, but I am here...to make sure you don't!" Ta dah, you were so lucky, Noemi didn't do this for many people, let's be real.
"S...so. Hello. How is it going in here?"

Oliver smiled, the lunch offer was presented with a more take-charge attitude than what he remembered from Noemi, but that sweet thoughtfulness hadn't changed a bit since the last time he saw her. "Thank you, I-I really appreciate it," Oliver blushed slightly as he thanked her, it was just a tiny bit embarrassing how well she had anticipated his forgotten mealtime. "In here, uh, work? It's going really well. I was just cleaning some of the data, fMRI stuff always needs some refining before it makes any sense, but it's looking good so far!" While he rambled on about the data, Oliver busied his hands cleaning papers and junk food wrappers off the desk so there was somewhere to put the food.

If there was one thing the intermediate had changed over, it was making sure that her friends at least had good meals. Island life was rough and the cafeteria well.....
"You're welcome!" She brightly said, pulling out dishes kept warm with foil and started to set them around. Some small sandwiches were also presented along with a bowl in which she poured some hot soup.
Technically the island wasn't cold with winter, but she had felt like a good soup would do wonders.
"What is the fMRI?" She cocked her head at him as she sat in the chair, avoiding anymore of his papers. "You are making good headway yeah? That's really awesome! You're doing a really good job Oliver!"

Oliver brightened substantially when asked questions about his work. It was like being asked to play video games with someone, except probably less satisfying on their end. "Functional magnetic resonance imaging! It uses a giant machine to spot changes in blood flow, which is especially useful for studying the brain because you can track what areas are used by how much change you see." He beamed, and was about to go on longer to explain why the data needs so much processing, but the moment he caught scent of that soup his stomach rumbled. How long had it been since Oliver actually ate a meal, instead of junk food?
