"I pledge my life and loyalty to Neptune, and to Bermuda.
I humbly request your aid, so that in return I may give you mine."
I humbly request your aid, so that in return I may give you mine."
When the words had first come to Afton Gracey he'd thought that he was losing his mind. The White Knight who had been trying to guide him as the small cat mentored his friend hadn't really been able to prepare him for that part-- perhaps he hadn't thought about it. Perhaps, for him, the words had seemed more as an afterthought and less of an insistence.
The words had beckoned him as he imagined the sea called to sailors and it was upon that first visit he found his signet ring. It had been sitting there waiting for him with not a speck of dust on it in the room that he and Hartley found themselves in now. Simple, round and wide, it was almost like being in a fish bowl (a thought that Afton really didn't want to think about, considering he assumed they were on Neptune).
There was no light save for a soft, glow glow coming somewhere from the dome ceiling above them along with a handful of tiny port holes around the room. It provided a bit of ambiance that he'd found soothing-- he hoped that Hartley wouldn't panic.
Hart.
He eased his grip on his friend before dropping the blankets and pillows they'd both been holding on to just as tightly, taking a moment to turn to the other man. "You're good? Everything alright? Made it here safe, yeah?"
