Recess was nearly over. The worst part of the day. Jane didn’t want it to be over. Quite frankly, she’d rather stay out all day. School was boring. She didn’t understand why grownups had to make such a fuss about it. Learn, read, math. What all did it matter? All she needed was the same order of chicken nuggets in her life and her rocks. None of which required book learning. Even if the care takers said differently.
She huffed as the school bell rang, her eyes looking upward from her pile of dirt. There was another person…? Her eyebrows shot up, surprised. They weren’t going back inside! She fumbled towards the other person. ”You’re playing more?” she looked up at them, hopeful. Typically she didn’t enjoy talking to others but hey, if she could spend more time outside…. why not!

One could have claimed that Kean was staying outside to annoy the teacher or that he just didn’t care, but the truth of it was he hadn’t even heard the bell ringing, telling them to go back inside. But he loved recess. Sure, he got his schoolwork done on time, and his sister even helped him sometimes when she could, and he was getting better at pacing his time, but recess was a whole different game! And he loved every minute of it, even if that meant that he had to go out in freezing cold weather. He didn’t mind though, his parents gave him warm clothing, and his sister forced him to put it on when he was too excited to go out and he forgot, and anything could become fun if you could think of something to do! And so here he was, currently still trying to create the perfect snowdemon in the little amount of snow that was left on the playground. However, when he heard someone talking to him he looked up and gave them a puzzled look. “Uh well, I’m trying to make this awesome snowdemon! I just wish there was more snow!” He said, patting some snow more onto it.

A broad yet wobbly and unsure grin filled Jane's face. If he could play more then so could she! Her eyes went to the others that were lining up orderly like the good students they were. She should go inside but....
She wasn't a good student.
Ignoring the slight guilt that she had over her father figuring out about her disobedience; Jane plopped down into the snow, but not in the other freshling's snow demon. Just mere inches away. Brrr, it was cold! Jane huddled closer in her jacket. Still worth it.
He needed more snow? Jane stared at the ground and tried clawing into the damp ground and snow, moving it close towards this snow demon. She could help with that. It aided her as well. He wanted snow, she wanted to find more rocks underneath. It was a win-win scenario. The only way she could lose was if she got found out!
"I'll help." she scooted more of the snow closer towards the demon, accidentally ruining one of the snow figure's limbs in the process. "Whoops." she looked at the other freshling, not knowing what she should do. She didn't mean to! She tried patting it but it wasn't the same shape. Why were her fists making little holes?

“Cool!” Kean said in reply, as he took some more snow and put it onto his snow demon. He still didn’t see the line of freshlings going into the building, and now that someone else had joined him, it was even more fun! The other freshling looked like she was getting some snow, and so Kean concentrated on shaping the snow-demon. But then he heard an oops and Kean looked over and saw that his snow demon didn’t have an arm anymore. The other frehsling looked like she was trying to re-shape it, so at least she hadn’t destroyed it on purpose. She had looked at him. “It’s okay. Snowdemons don’t last too long anyway. And at least someone got to see it!” Although he missed it, he had been taught not to get too angry when someone had an accident!

A relieved gush of air released from Jane's lips. He wasn't mad? That was good. Very good. As much as she didn't care if she upset others, this freshling seemed...nice. And she really didn't mean to ruin it! The bit of playtime was a nice too.
The proverbial cogs in her mind were sometimes slow. Her face fell as she slowly came to the realization that the snow demon wouldn't last forever. "What..." Mouth agape, she looked down at the snow demon. They looked so pretty though..."We gotta save them!" It hurts if they melt right?! Jane could only imagine the pain. It sounded worse than a shot. But...she didn't know how they'd be able to save them. She looked to Kean as if he could provide some help.

Kean had a surprised look on his face. Apparently this other freshling thought they were alive! Well, there had been quite a few times that Kean had wished that they were alive after making them, especially the ones he made that looked like they were going to break the front door and eat his veggies for him, but he knew they weren’t alive alive. Yet. Maybe someday he would find a way to do that. “Um… it’s not alive. I just made it, see? You can make your own too once we get some more snow again! Though if it was alive that would be really cool, right? I just don’t know how it would survive past winter though.” Maybe they could bring it to the mountains?

The elf's mouth snapped shut. Not alive...?! That couldn't possibly be true. Even if this Kean seemed nice enough. Jane jerkily shook her head to and fro in denial. "It's alive! she insisted, staring down at the snow demon's 'face'. Had to be. Even if it was just made. After all, her rock friends were alive and they were from the dirt.
The idea of making her own had her perking up then. Usually, she hated snow. It hid all of what she was interested in. Made it difficult to find new additions to her collection. "We need more snow." she nodded decisively, scanning the area for a large snow pile. Much to her dismay, there was none.
"We can save them with magic!" They just needed an adult to help save them. But anything was possible with magic right? Maybe one of the teachers....She cringed. Nah. Then they'd have to talk to a teacher. "Do you know any adults?"

Kean realized that he wasn’t going to convince the other that the snowdemon was, in fact, not real. However, there wasn’t really any way to ‘save’ it since he had been using the last snow on the playground to be able to make it. When she asked her question, he thought about it for a moment. “Well… there’s mom and dad and sissy. And teachers. But I don’t know any other adults than that.” Or at least ones that would be able to make things come to life. His parents didn’t know any magic and he hadn’t been taught any of as of yet here. And Sissy was too interested in clothing and art to worry about magic. He turned his head to the side. “You know any adults that could help?” He looked around, trying to find the teacher, when he realized that they were suddenly… alone! “Hey… where is everyone?”

Jane gave Kean an intense stare as she contemplated the information that had been given. Parents. A sister. They wouldn't be of any help! Her frown got more prominent as she pondered. The teachers were their best bet but....she really didn't want to get caught.
The elf shook her head. She wished she knew of some adults that could help. If she did, then she wouldn't be asking. All the adults she knew of would get after her for not going in on time. She didn't like time out. Or detention.
She cringed. She didn't realize that Kean didn't know that there were no adults around. She glanced at him from the side. "I---inside?" she gave him an uneasy smile.
(sorry for the delay!)

Watching Jane's uneasiness made Kean a bit nervous, which made him look around and... no one was there! They must have missed the school bell! "Oh no! We have to go and get inside! But I'm sure we'll be able to create the snowdemon again!" He said, quickly getting off, and brushing some snow off of him, before running inside. Or at least he would have if he didn't trip. He immediately got up though and ran to the door, looking back behind him. "Jane, we have to get inside!" He said, hoping that the teachers hadn't locked them out. When he tried the door, he was relieved to find that it was still unlocked, and so opened it for her, waiting only for her to get in and he would follow after, joining her. Porcelain Pinch All right, end post from me! Thanks for the rp!

Aw man. Jane turned her head to look at the destroyed snow demon. When would they be able to make one again? The snow was already starting to melt and disappear. Maybe they could make it out of dirt next time? Better yet, stone? She still had plenty of rocks in her pocket. And she was sure her rock pals wouldn't mind helping out. It was for a good cause. Even still... There was enough time to fix it with snow, wasn't there? Oops. There wasn't. The elf jumped as she was called, her head swiveling to look at Kean's. Her new friend wasn't going to let her ditch it seemed. The caretakers were going to know by the yell. Jane dragged her feet towards the other freshling, sporting a full blown pout. "I'm coming." she mumbled, taking her sweet time on coming to the door. Maybe the snow demon will be there next recess. SSBrosB Ahh, np! Thanks for rping with me ;u;
