Name: Raina Amada Araya
Nickname: She's gotten "Ray" on occasion.
Age: 13
Birthday: August 4th, 2004
Sign: Leo
Gemstone: Carnelian
Blood Type: Type O+
Fav. Food: Her palate is fairly diverse and she'll likely eat most anything you put in front of her, though she really favors tamales and anything containing black beans.
Hated Food: Turkey. So bland!
School: Knightside Elementary for now, but will be entering Meadowview High in the fall.
Hobbies: "Wanna Race?" - Not necessarily a physical race -- though don't get her wrong, she will race you down the school field -- but a race in which she passes a controller and boots up a console. Raina loves racing games. She played a few carting games when she was younger and got hooked, and now plays every kind of racing game from the sillier ones to the professional F1-esque racing simulators. Raina's actually gotten pretty good at most of them over the years, and dedicates a significant portion of her time to continuing to get better at them. She has hopes of entering some competitions when she gets older to maybe get her own money to work with.
"I'm the Lord of the Dance!" - Mostly in an attempt to distract Raina from her day-to-day life and to maybe find a place to expel all that energy, Raina's mother signed her up for jazz dance classes at a relatively young age. Raina has never looked back. When she is not in her jazz classes learning how to shuffle ball-kick her way into the recital, or picking up latin dancing courtesy of her brother-in-law, Raina is frequently found blaring random electronica or video game music just so she can dance around the living room to it.
"Pass Me That Comic!" - Raina loves to read, but more specifically, she loves to read graphic novels. They are by far her favorite type of book, in almost any genre. She admittedly favors indie comics--she claims that the most interesting stories can be found there--but she usually has to convince someone else to buy those for her. She is fairly familiar with the major comics companies as well, however, and
dares someone to try and say she doesn't know her stuff...
Virtues: "Let's Be Friends!" - Raina is the definition of an extrovert. She's energized by the presense of other people to an almost unusual amount, and wants to be friends with nearly everyone she meets. She won't even be mean to people who seem to be being mean on the outset, trying to reach out and make other people feel welcomed. She'll try to find commonalities with anyone, and even if there's no obvious commonalities, she'll keep trying with that endless persistence of hers. She will break from this pattern if someone is doing active harm to others beside herself.
"Let's Go!" - Raina seems to run on an endless reservoir of energy stored somewhere in the ether. She doesn't go to sleep, she crashes at some point mostly because she
has to. It can make her a bit exhausting to others, but she's always ready to do whatever she needs to and whatever she
wants to. While she prefers doing things that require her to be active, even if it's something she finds boring, like a history project for school, she'll still tackle it with gusto. Of course, she'd prefer to do things that are actually
interesting, but she understands she has to try to have priorities. Sometimes.
"I Won't Give Up!" - Even when confronted by a challenge that seems impossible, Raina is willing to put her foot forward and tackle that challenge. She's not very inclined to give up on anything, no matter how impossible or unlikely success may seem. This can sometimes make her continue with something to an unreasonable amount of time, even when it is clear continuing to persist will do no good (and perhaps even do harm), but it also means she will try to meet whatever conquerable challenges are set in front of her. Plus, who knows what could face her if she does give up? She can't let that possibility come to life.
Flaws: "Don't Leave Me!" - Raina is clingy. Very, very clingy. She's had relatively little home stability until recently, considering her brother was abducted when she was young and then after he was recovered, her father abandoned them. With her world swirling around her from a relatively young age, she developed an almost extreme attachment to anyone that
was actually stable. And while her life has settled down, that has done nothing to fix her tendency to cling onto people and never let them go. She can get rather upset if someone has to leave suddenly, or if someone goes a while without contacting her, feeling like she may have been abandoned
again, or even worse, maybe they got abducted too. She is the type of person who might end up clinging to someone's leg, begging for them to stay. In a lot of ways, she depends on the presense of others, and her mood quickly sinks when she's left on her own.
"Mine." - Raina's tendency to cling to people tends to also show in a
possessiveness of others. She wants to be friends with everyone! She wants them to be friends with her. They can be friends with each other, but they also need to be friends with
her. She can get jealous when left out of things between friends of hers, and when friends of hers seem to be growing friendli
er with others, she can get a bit territorial. This can also manifest in her trying desperately to get her friends' attentions. She's likeable, right? More likeable than they are, right?
"I'm ... Nervous." - While it may not be obvious at the onset, Raina is plagued by a deep anxiety she can't quite shake. It's the little things that have built up over time, it's the small things that go wrong and the big ones, it's the unlucky and sometimes even the lucky -- when is the other shoe going to drop? She's not quite paranoid, although she can edge towards it at times; a lot of things concern her, far beyond they should. She covers it up fairly well with smiles and energy, but internally, thoughts can churn and chew at the back of her mind.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Her eyes are bright, a golden shade similar to
her brother's.
Hair: Her hair is fairly long. Unlike her brother, she got the hair color of her father -- a deep dark brown that appears to be black from any distance. She tends to keep it in a high ponytail, with varying bows, ribbons, or hair ties depending on her current mood. In the ponytail, her hair reaches her mid-to-lower back. Outside of the ponytail, it's likely closer to her legs.
Face: Her face-shape is a little bit on the heart-shaped side, perhaps not having lost all of its youthfulness yet despite clearly being in puberty. She's got freckles dotting across her cheeks and nose.
Clothes: When not wearing her school clothes, Raina tends for fashionable clothing that allows for a lot of movement. She wears a lot of wide leg pants and gauchos, and flowy shirts that tend to be a size too big. If she can twirl in it, it has the right fit for her! She can occasionally be found in dresses as well, and even the occasional pair of leggings so long as she has a skirt over them. She tends towards bright colors. While she doesn't tend towards anything loud and neon, it would be hard to find her in anything muted outside of her school uniform.
Extra: She is fairly freckled from top down, with more freckles smattered across her shoulders, upper arms, and thighs. This gets worse the longer she's outside, especially during the summer. She's also a tad darker shade of peach than her brother is, and looks like she probably wouldn't be as likely to burn the instant she steps out into the sun. She's got a lithe build from dancing and looks fairly toned for her age.
