Regan had gotten a message from Chase that had let her know that it was time. Paperwork had been filed and she was sure that Silk had probably found his way of upgrading the senshi so...
The text message from Chase brought her to a more wooded area outside of destiny city and it was probably due to keeping what was happening out of public eye AND just in case anything happened with him. She hadn't expected that Chase would personally pick her up either, expecting that his...issues would require her to find her own ride out there.
Just in case though, she had sat in the back seat, petting the small kitten who was comforting her during the ride. She wasn't sure what to expect, because...well...her corruption had hurt a lot.
Would upgrading also have the same pain?
She wasn't sure what to think, especially since she wasn't able to physically lean on Chase this time. Just be stronger, she closed her eyes until they came to the wide open field area. It was chilly with the incoming autumn but....

Admittedly, he was a little nervous! This was his first time upgrading an actual senshi thing not just like...handing out a simple pen. He had never done it before, but doing cat things had been coming naturally so...he shouldn't be worried? Not that he let Regan or Chase see that he was nervous. No. His false bravado was amped up to the eleven right now. Right here on Regan's lap. Yep. To the eleven on this nice lap. He upgraded corrupt senshi things like...ALL THE TIME (like all the time, despite having to talk with Chase about how to upgrade one). Regardless, stuff had been handled, and he had been told what to do so...now all that was left was to do it! Silk was currently loafing on Regan's lap, lightly purring, thought it was distracted by his nerves about what was to come. As the car started to slow, the kitten immediately sat up, ears swiveling forward in alert. Using Regan as a boost, his front paws propped up on the window sill of the back seat so he could look out. "Are we there?" He asked.

The car ride was largely a silent one, in part because of Regan's natural quiet and reserved nature and in part because there wasn't a single person in the vehicle that didn't have some sort of vibrating nerves.
He could imagine what his companion might be feeling as he himself was unsure of how the evening would turn out. There had been little progress since the last time he had been around the stardust senshi but he had learned that he was more capable of control when he was Chase instead of Labyrinthite. Certain things would still push him and chaos was an ever present itch that he knew he would scratch in a millisecond if things went south but...
No, things would be fine.
Regan, and her counterpart, was one of his and since he missed all of the other promotions in his absence, he would not miss this one. Besides, they'd both been instructed to summon Dia or Zircon should things go south.
But the wouldn't. He refused to believe that he couldn't stay in control for this.
"Almost." He answered the cat easily enough, glancing at the pair through the rearview mirror before the car pulled off to the side. Regan would recognize the area, if vaguely, as it was the same place he'd revealed General Labyrinthite to her.

Regan didn't recognize at first but as she stepped out, allowing Silk to hop down, she started to familiarize the area with her memories. It had been the night she had finally been more recovered from her father's abuse, it had been the second or third? night she gone riding with Chase on his motorbike.
It was the first night that she had met Laby and he offered the means to change her world. To change everything she was into someone else.
Adamantine had been born that night, in the darkness at the hands of the queen and the general. Her starseed had been corrupted and painful. She remembered being teleported to his home. Waking.
So much had changed since then.
"Are you ready?" She eased down to Silk and picked him up gently, cradling the cat in her arms. "Do you think...It'll hurt again?" She asked Chase, her gaze roaming over the horizon rather then his face.

Silk didn't recognize the place, period, nor did he understand the significance behind it. When Regan opened the door for him (well, them, but it was really for him), the kitten immediately hopped to the ground and scampered forward a bit. He sniffed the air (it was fresh, something he wasn't used to), and just took a great interest in the scenery. It was probably for the best that Regan picked him up, because he had briefly forgotten why they were even here and was about to go start climbing trees. "Hey---Oh. Of course I am!" Being in the woman's arms kept him focused, and he immediately took to loafing in her hold, looking up at her as she spoke, and then over to Chase. In the end, he was waiting for the man's cue to start this whole...procedure. He looked back at Regan. "You're ready too!" He told her firmly. "Whether you think so or not!" And because he said it, it was true.

His weight shifted to his other foot uncomfortably as he tried to decide how he would answer. In the end, he defaulted to the truth or what he assumed was close enough to the truth to matter.
"Probably." Hands slid into the pockets of his slacks as he led them away from the car and towards the small gathering of trees and the clearing inside them. "Promotions always hurt, this one involves less hands in your chests, but I doubt it's any less painful."
It had been a very, very long time since he'd had anyone's hand in his chest funneling chaos through him. The last time-- it had been with Adamantine he was certain.
How long ago was that?
His sense of time was still warped from his exile. He still hadn't talked to anyone about what had happened or why he had left. He wondered if the man behind Aluminite was saying things or if, in the end, he held some form of loyalty still even as he ran with his tail tucked between his legs.
A head-shake had his thoughts clearing and his ability to focus returned. Gesturing for Regan to pass him he nodded at the kitten. "Once she powers up, you know what to do."
He would remain as Chase.

"Honest." She liked that about Chase, he usually never lied. Even though he was going through his things, he never lied.
But it wasn't always transparent to her either.
She shifted into Adamantine, letting the corrupt form gather and cloak over her. "Do your worst to me Silk." She smiled at him, placing a small kiss on the forehead star of the kitten.
Not sure why she did it though, It just seemed like the best way to encourage and comfort the kitten and calm herself from the pain she would once again suffer.

With the go ahead from Chase, Silk shifted one hundred and ten percent of his attention on Adamantine. Well, he was about to get all serious, except she had to go and kiss his forehead, and it was a good thing he couldn't blush. He was a bit flustered though. "I-I'm not gonna do my worst! It's my best, duh." He looked away for a moment, mumbling under his breath and then turned back to face her. "I'm going to need your pen and---" He paused for a moment, only to then leap up and do a spin in the air. He landed back on the shelf of Adamantine's arm and chest, and then looked up just in time to catch the charged crystal in his mouth he pulled from Negaspace. "Phen!" He reminded with his mouth full, making sure to mentally go over the process he had watched with Bob, Lace, and that chick who lost the fight with the weed wacker.

Playing the role of strict observer was unusual for him and it created some level of discomfort in the otherwise collected man. While he would never voice such a thing, it showed in the tenseness of his jaw and the rigidness of his shoulders. Or, it showed in the slight narrowing of his eyes and the way his feet shuffled back to create more space.
There was a warning trying to bubble in his throat, a growl he refused to release because he was better, stronger than his urges.
His grip on his wrist tightened, arms held behind his back as he forced himself to exhale slowly through his nose, watching both senshi and cat perform whatever tricks were needed to accomplish the upgrade without a general-sovereign. He was grateful to not need one of them, he couldn't risk the visibleness of his struggles.
For a moment, his eyes closed, but he was certain when he opened them, Adamatine would stand before him stronger and built anew.

Adamantine handed over her pen to the cat, watching Silk go to work.
Her gaze would go to Chase, who stood by just in case and regardless of his condition, was a comforting force in this space. Even if Laby was there, something about having Chase nearby put the girl more at ease.
Believing that Silk and Chase would help her a lot, she waited for the cat to take the lead.
Her gaze landed on the crystal and she sucked in a breath.

Silk placed a paw on Adamantine's pen to keep it steady as he attended to the first order of business. He didn't like to think that this would hurt her, but maybe it was something that just couldn't be avoided. He also wasn't going to dilly dally either. He just needed to get it done, so that she could get over it quicker! "You got this!" He told her. The kitten stretched up, and pressed the crystal against the hole in her chest. He then shifted as it started to go, and leaned to push his forehead against the crystal the rest of the way as it sunk into her chest. Once it was gone, Silk picked up her pen in his mouth and leapt from her arms with it. When he hit the ground, (on his feet, of course) he immediately whirled around to watch Adamantine. Once that went okay...he'd upgrade her pen then!

Chase's arms were folded across his chest, whiskey eyes narrowed as he observed the exchange between the senshi and his cat. This process was new and he had done his research when he'd learned that it had become viable. Parts of it were exasperating, expecting cats to do paperwork seemed illogical without the assistance of an officer who could hold a pen, other parts?
They were useful.
Not needing to request a general-sovereign for direct assistance was useful, but Chase wished he could do it himself all the same. The reliance of others when they were already stretched thin was unfavorable, but his disdain would remain a quiet thing he kept to himself.
They were always listening after all.
When Silk was done with her she'd be new, with the potential to be stronger.

Adamantine was terrified of the pain, though she knew she shouldn't be. Much like when she had first corrupted, the chaos spread slow, latching on to her starseed. The pain started then, like a hot fire in her chest. Like a knife digging into her skin, slowly. She closed her eyes, biting at her lip to let it come.
Just as the pain slowly came, eventually it slowly faded and her outfit melted into a black aura before reforming. The dress wasn't much different, she could tell as she opened her eyes, looking down at the simple changes.
The difference she knew, was the power. She didn't feel as basic. She didn't feel so weak. Her legs wobbled only due to the clenching pain but she stood and that was what mattered.
Ice blue eyes raised to meet Chase's pink, a look of confidence in them. She was, she thought, one step closer to you general. One step closer to standing on more equal footing. One more step, to being able to stand proudly at the side of him.
To Silk, she reached down, retrieving her pen from him.
"Thank you." Her hand stopped to pet at his head. "You've done amazing, Silk." Lucyal Thank you so much you two!!
