Hobbies:
- Ballet -- Othello has been dancing since his can remember and lives for it. He was on track to be a top ballet dancer and had started training with the DC ballet by the time he was twelve. Unfortunately he was in a nasty car crash and now has screws holding both his ankles and one knee together. This killed his ability to dance professionally so now he teaches kids. It's not quite the same but it means he still has ballet in his life
Growing Succulents -- Something about having green things around makes Othello happy. He's terrible at growing anything else but succulents but since he wants to be surrounded by green he has dozens. He's got big ones, little ones, some air plants, and everything in between. Almost every space in his tiny apartment has succulents on it.
Antiquing -- If you call Othello a hipster he might kick you but he can't ignore that he spends too much time in antique stores digging around for random things. His tastes are rather eclectic and sometimes older is better. He doesn't always keep the items, sometimes selling good things online for a few extra bucks. Getting to dig through stuff that could be decades old and seeing what people used to be into is a relaxing hobby for him.
Virtues:
- "Measure twice, cut once" Methodical -- Othello hates being wrong and really hates having to do something twice. Because of this he often over plans things to make sure they will come out right the first time. Othello takes into account every possibility he can think of into consideration before he starts doing anything and makes sure he's got all the information he can get.
"Management Experience Provided" Leader -- Because Othello tends to be the one overthinking things he also tends to be the one in charge. He prefers to take charge knowing he's the best for the option and has no problem taking the lead in any project he's given. He'll be the first to volunteer for something and the first to take charge when someone offers the option.
"Bleeding Heart" Emotional-- Since Othello got into a more 'feminine' hobby as a child he was surrounded by people who had no issue encouraging boys to be emotional. Because of this he never learned the habit of hiding his feelings and usually feels his emotions strongly. Being emotional also helped his dancing. It was easier to make his body movements match the emotion of the dance if he could feel them properly himself.
Flaws:
- "OMG did you hear?" Gossip-- Growing up in a rather cutthroat social circle Othello was never one to shy away from gossip. The right talk in the right place could ruin someone who was in between him and the lead in a ballet. It was also a good way to know who was 'popular' and who wasn't at any given time. Gossip turned into a way Othello knew who he could step on to get what he wanted.
"Do You Mean It?" Insecure-- Despite the mask he gives to everyone Othello is rather insecure about himself. The issue cropped up when he was in a car crash which destroyed his aspirations to be a lead ballet dancer. That had been such a central part of his life for so long that without it Othello was left thinking his 'worth' was destroyed as well. He tries to hide it but the feeling he is worthless constantly plagues him leaving him all to happy to hide his own faults by pointing out others.
"Don't Blow a Gasket" Emotional -- Being in touch with one's emotions is usually seen as good but when those emotions can be explosive it becomes less of a positive trait. Othello doesn't usually have simple emotions. Often they are deep and violent emotions leading him to lash out as often as not. Since his emotions swing from zero to sixty so fast it's not pleasent to be around him when he's angry or upset.
Tidbits:
- Bent but Not Broken -- Othello and his mother were involved in a car crash caused by a drunk driver when Othello was twelve. His mother survived with cuts and bruises but the driver hit the side of the car Othello was on. Othello almost lost one leg but manged to come out with one fake knee and bolts holding the other knee and both ankles together. This ruined his dreams of being a principle ballet dancer and has effected his outlook on life ever since.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Red, heavy lidded
Hair: Bright red (dyed from ash blond)
Body: Tall and lanky but athletic
Fashion: No fashion sense whatever, just wears whatever's comfortable that at least doesn't completely clash, excluding clashing with his hair.
At Home: leggings and long-sleeved shirts or sweaters. He gets cold easily so prefers to always have something at least a little warm on.
