Niite was off the clock as far as she was concerned. She'd done her rounds on the watch and she was long over do for a rest. Her duties had included a lot of watching the other Chevaliers to make sure they were on their watch posts and not messing anything up. Not that there was anything to mess up right now given the pride had moved in and was no longer out in the open.
She sleepily wandered the silver sands of the beaches on her way towards her preferred sleeping den. She was banking on it being empty for a good long rest but when she got there there was a pile of black fur. Sleepily she swayed for a moment before getting the nerve from her sleepy self to raise her voice.
"HEY," She shouted, "You're in MY den. MOVE."
Okay so she wasn't being polite but she was off the clock and who ever was in her den had better get out before she got physical with them. Not that she would get physical with another pride member but damn it she was tired. And she wanted HER den.
"Come on now I don't have all day."

Miles and miles of sparkling silver sand. Sunsets and sunrises as far as the eye could see. Swirling mists of fog and sea spray left a calm but dull cloud. It was beautiful.
Until it wasn't.
Samedi's maw snarled slightly as his ears went back. Suddenly a very ANNOYING voice was yelling, and being QUITE demanding. Why? He had no idea. He wanted to be back on the beaches, enjoying his free time for when he wasn't making his rounds and patrolling. Some days it seemed like that's all he did. Patrolled this way and then patrolled back that way. While he could take in the sights as he did his rounds, it just wasn't the same as taking a moment or a few hours even to just sit there and admire the beauty that was the place that he lived in and called home now.
Now though... Now he was being woken up. By a commanding screech. Samedi was not having any of it. "HEY," he replied sharply. "MY spot, so take a damn hike." The large pile of black fur huffed and puffed as he stretched his front paws out, his white toes wiggling as his claws reached forward and clawed at the ground in a sleepy and relaxing manner.

"TAKE A DAMN HIKE!?" She was now screeching in a high pitched snarled tone. "Are you BLOODY kidding ME?!" She gasped still not realizing who it was that she was arguing with. "Seriously. And I mean SERIOUSLY reconsidered every syllable you've just uttered and mind your TONGUE. What's your name any how!"
Her eye lids were so heavy by now that she wasn't thinking or seeing straight but her temper was never tired. Niite could chew some ones head off in her sleep. But then her eyelids opened wide enough to get a flash of skull.
Oh.
Oh no.
She was talking to HIM. That didn't make her retract anything she just stated but she was at least a little self aware now.

"WHY DON'T YOU TAKE A DA-"
As Samedi turned around, about to unleash hell on the frickin' harpy that was so being ever so diligent about this damn sleeping spot in this flippin' cave, that's when he noticed a bright splash of color that only ONE lioness here had. Aaaaand... That's when he realized he was potentially in trouble. Sighing, quite heavily, Samedi covered his sleepy yellow eyes with his white front paws, pulling his face down and grumbling.
"Hello. Niite. What a pleasure."
His tone was cold, but he didn't necessarily mean for it to be. He was so exhausted, especially since he had been woken up so rudely. He was not a lion that could just be... Awoken. But. Here he was. Awake. At the paws of... This... This commanding female. He grumbled a little bit more and tried his best to straighten up, showing at least a little bit of respect for her and her position.
"How are you?"

Niite frowned at him as she tried to process the sudden attitude change. She knew it was because of her rank but even so before he'd given her a rough time knowing full well who she was. (Well okay maybe that was her fault .) "Sam." Her voice was very calm now which in it self was a little scary. "What. The. Hell." Was still said calmly and very carefully. "Move over okay I'm going to squeeze in. You're obviously not going to move so I'm guessing we should just share it."

Samedi cracked a very teeny-tiny smile, which was probably not really visible on his black maw, but he wouldn't of minded if the lioness had seen it either. They were on a short name basis and had only known each other for a rather limited period of time. That in itself made the burly black lion ever so slightly joyous. He wouldn't let on about it, no, but it tickled his fancy a bit, for whatever reason.
Raising an eyebrow to her, Sam nudged his big black lumpy self over, just enough for the lioness to be able to lie down without feeling too crowded against both himself and the walls of the cave. It had been quite some time since he had had the company of another present while he slept, but he couldn't full on say no. Not only would that of been disrespectful to both a female and a superior lion in rank, but it would of been unwanted and rude. Everyone deserved a space to sleep. Making quite the audible sigh and grumbling nice and loud, Sam did his best to show just how much he was going out of his way for her and her wanted space.
"There. Now lay. I'd like to go back to sleep before I need to be back up." Taking a few moments of silence and stretching his white tipped toes back out again, Samedi was once again... Cocky. "You didn't answer my question. How are you?"

Niite cocked her head up proudly as she made her way to the den, did a few circles, and finally settled down. She left enough space where the two weren't squished in together but it was a small space. She was close enough to feel the warmth from his body. Yeah she was annoyed but the consolation prize of getting to share a den with Samedi was too much for her to pass up. He was murmuring something about his question from before. She rolled her eyes. "What do you think?" She grumbled. "Sleepy. Also gotta get up in a few hours. Been doing my own rounds and checking on everyone else. So how the hell do you think I am." Flirting. Not Niite's strong suit.

"I think you're a grumpy harpy."
He simply left it at that. He was picking on her, but she was also just really cranky right now. He understood that little to no sleep was an exhausting function, but since Niite was generally kind of cranky to begin with, her being tired made it even more apparent. Still, Samedi didn't mind. He wasn't quite sure why he didn't, but he rather... Enjoyed picking on her. It was fun and rather rewarding when she got all huffy and puffy towards him.
Yawning with an accompanied sleepy roar, the big black male ever so slightly loosened up and sprawled out a bit, taking up the space that had been left between the two of them, his backside ever so slightly touching the cranky lioness. He didn't care, but she probably would. In fact, he rather hoped she did. It was more fun that way.

She snorted a little at that retort. Niite was too tired to have a come back her self so instead she kicked him gently with we read foot. Satisfied, Niite made her self more comfortable by leaning a little closer to Sam still managing to keep a healthy distance.
With that her eyelids gave way and she found her self slumbering.

Suddenly being kicked, Samedi made an audible but overly exaggerated OOF!, his ears lying back against his head as he brought it up to glare at Niite. It was all for naught though when he saw her get rather comfortable and begin to drift off into the much desired sleep that she had been aching for. Watching for for just a few moments, the burly black male smiled. He didn't know why he was smiling, but he was. His eyes traveled to the interesting splash of color that he could see and to the top of the skull that adorned her shoulder. Her pelt was so... Intriguing.
That's when he realized it. That's when he knew.
His dark maw grew into a more coy smile and his skull face curved. "Sleep well, harpy." With that, he put his head back down, falling into a better sleep than he had gotten in years.
He was home.
