~Character Data~



Name

Pretty self-explanatory: what is you character's name?

Keep in mind that, if your character is part of a clan, they will usually have the clan's name as their last name (which is usually before the first name in Japanese). We usually try to go with Japanese names to stay true to Naruto but there's nothing inherently wrong if you want your character to be called Alejandro Vega...


Village

Your character's village affiliation. While the guild is still in its early stages, we will limit activity to Konoha but the door is not closed to opening additional villages if the need arises.


Age

Your character's age. Remember that in this new shinobi era becoming a ninja is something you do as an adult (child care services wouldn't be down with a 9 year old running off to war to assassinate targets).

Therefore your character will usually be 16+ years old. Also remember that the guild has no time skips so the age you choose for your character will pretty much be the one they will stay at.


Gender

Pretty self explanatory as well: what is your character's gender? Classics are male and female but this guild welcomes all identities so it could be possible that the character has no defined gender or any other type of sexual identity.


Rank

Except for rare exceptions, your character will start as academy students (if only briefly) before being promoted to genin once you have shown sufficient mastery of the system. There will be criterias and bonuses for promotions that will be explained in the villages.

~Character Essence~



Clan/Bloodline

Even though this may seem discriminatory, only mention a clan or bloodline if your character is part of a recognized clan. If he is simply part of a normal family (even if according to your character history it could be considered a ninja family), the answer here would be "none".

Remember that affiliation to clans will need to be pruchased depending on the clan's ranking (E being cheapest to S being the most expensive). Refer yourself to the Clan Subforum for more information on each available clans.


Kekkei Genkai (Bloodline Limit)

Fill if your character has a kekkei genkai. Clans will sometimes have one (Byakugan, Sharingan, etc.) but some individuals will manifest certain kekkei genkai though spontaneous mutation without being part of a clan. A good example of this in Naruto could be Yamato, who, without being part of a clan, has the Mokuton bloodline limit.


Element Affinity

Every individual's chakra in the Naruto universe has an affinity towards one element. Your character's affinity will provide them with noteworthy advantages making this choice very important:

1. Your character will be able to spend points in the corresponding element release skill without having to purchase the ability.
2. Your character will have more proficiency in using that element, translating in system in various bonuses that can take the form of increased damage, reduced chakra cost, increased critical rate, etc.

In the vast majority of cases, this affinity will be towards one of the five basics element. However, cerain individuals with a kekkei genkai will have affinity towards an advanced combination element. An example of this would be Haku from the Hidden Mist who, at a very early age, manifested spontaneously the ability to wield Ice Release (Wind/Water combination) without showing the ability to manipulate either of its core elements.

On the other hand, having an elemental kekkei genkai does not necessarily imply affinity to that combined element. An example of this could be Yamato who, while having the ability to fuse water and earth to use wood release, had to work very hard at it because it did not come naturally to him.

Some advanced perks will affect your character's affinity. You may refer to this specific section for more details.

~Appearance~


Appearance:

This section refers to the appearance perks that determine your character's overall looks, and the effect that their looks have on various stats or skills.

Refer yourself to the appearance perks list for all details.


Hair:

Your character's hair colour and hair style.


Eyes:

Your character's eye colour. Could also determine your character's eye shape if particular.


Skin Tone:

Your character's skin tone. Usually stays within normal human skin tones unless your character is part of a particular clan.


Description:

If all of the above was not specific enough, you may do a recap of your character's general appearance in this section.

~Build~



Build:

Your character's build refers to their body's general constitution. Are they lanky, husky, musclebound. A character's build will usually have a significant impact on their physical attributes, both negatively and positively.

Refer yourself to the Build Perks section to determine which will apply to your character.


Height:

Your character's height. Must be compatible with build perk(s) chosen for your character. (A colossal character willl not be 5'0'' tall...)


Weight:

Your character's weight. Must be compatible with build perk(s) chosen for your character. (A stocky character will not weigh 95 pounds).


Description:

If the previous sections weren't sufficient to describe your character's build, you may give additional detail here to explain what their build looks like.

~Personality~



Personality Traits:

This section refers to your character's defining personality traits. Are they empathetic, aggressive, pacifistic, belligerent. These characteristics will have an impact on your character's skills or stats.

Refer yourself to the Personality Perks section to choose the one/those for your character.


Sexual Orientation:

Your character's sexual orientation. This is important as it will have an impact on the effect of certain skills, mainly seduction. The general orientations are heterosexual or homosexual, however you may choose anything along the spectrum. Don't try to get cute by saying "objects" or something like that to avoid the disadvantages that can be related to sexual orientation.


Physical Preferences:

Again, important mostly for seduction. This section must have at least two elements:

1. An eye color, hair color or skin tone (must be something found on generic character sheets;
2. A build (according to build perks);

So your character might have thing for dark skinned athletic men or for blonde stocky women.


Description:

Again, if the previous sections weren't specific enough, you may summarize your character's general personality here.

~Character History~



Background:

Your character's general upbringing. This is basically the history of how they were raised and how they came to where they are now. Has no real impact on system things but important for your RP.


Missions:

Will mostly apply to characters created at higher levels (usually NPCs) but this section is meant to summarize the missions that defined your charcter of those where they gained notoriety. Will usually be a requirement if you want your character to have a cool title like "The Leaf's Legendary Sannin" or "Kakashi of the Sharingan".


Description:

If the previous section left holes in your character's history, you may use section to fill the voids. Keep in mind that no one will want to read a 4 page profile because you were overflowing with inspiration.

~Stats~



Stats refer to your character's physical and mental characteristics. These are the most defining characteristics of your character and will have a significant impact on their combat abilities. Contrarily to skills which apply to very specific attacks and situations, stats have an impact on groups of skills and on combat techniques.

There are seven stats in our system which are explained in detail in our Character Stats and Skills Guide.

Remember that you must choose them carefully as, contrarily to skills, stats will upgrade very slowly through your character's development.


Distributing Stat Points:

When making your character, you have a defined number of stat points to distribute:

1. 5 base points to all stats;
2. 50 points for distribution;

Once you have distributed your points, you have to calculate the total bonus coefficients that apply to specific stats based on the skills and perks they possess. These coefficients are continuous so they will apply just as much to your initial point distribution as it will to future upgrades.


Indicating Stats on Your Character Sheet:

You must identify all of these elements on your character sheet:

1. "base value": refers to the base points to stats+ the points you distributed.

2. "upgrades": refers to the additional points you may have purchased throughout your character's development.

3. "multiplier": refers to the bonuses that apply because of perks and abilities.

4. "mod": important to the fighting system. These will be explained in the following section.


Stat Modifiers:

A "stat mod" will be important to identtify as it will be in most situations the value which applies to skills, attacks and checks. The forumla to determine your stat mod is fairly simple:

Stat Modifier = [Stat - 10] / 2.

This means that if your character has 12 strength, their Str Mod will be: [12 - 10] / 2 = 2 / 2 = 1. Your character can also have a negative mod to a stat. If your character has 8 Intelligence, their Int Mod = [8 - 10] / 2 = -2 / 2 = -1.

All mod values are rounded down.


HP, MHP, and CP:

Respectively referring to Health Points, Mental Health Points, and Chakra Points, these determine your character's reserves in combat.

While the effect of depletion of each points are explained in the combat section, what you have to keep in mind is that if either of these pools goes to 0 during a fight, your character goes down.

At the stage of drafting your character sheet, the formula to determines these points' value is the following:

Health Points (HP) = 50 + [5 x Constitution Modifier (Con Mod)]

Mental Health Points (MHP) = 50 + [5 x Wisdom Modifier (Wis Mod)]

Chakra Points (CP) = 100 + [10 x Chakra Modifier (Chk Mod)]

Obviously, every time either of your stats go up, adjust the corresponding points accordingly.

~Skills~



Skills are what determine your character's ability to perform specific types of actions. They are what will separate shinobi from one another as they will raise the quickest as your character progresses.

You will notice that all skills are grouped under certain stats. That is because all skills are affected by the stat mods from which they depend. This means that any "check" from that specific skills will have the mod from the corresponding stat added to it.

Ex: A shinobi casts and earth release jutsu that causes the ground to shake. To avoid falling down, your character has to roll an Acrobatics check. Acrobatics being related to the Dexterity stat, when you roll your acrobatics check, it will be with the following formula: d20 + Level + Dex Mod + 1 per 5 in Acrobatics.


Distributing Skill Points:

When making your character, you have a defined number of skill points to distribute:

Starting Number of Skills Points = 50

Even though it might be tempting to spend all your skills points in a few offensive skills, remember that completely forgetting skills will make your character very vulnerable to certain attacks and will also hamper their progression through the shinobi ranks.


Indicating Skills on Your Character Sheet:

You must identify all of these elements on your character sheet:

1. "base value": refers to the points you distributed.

2. "upgrades": refers to the additional points you may have purchased throughout your character's development.

3. "multiplier": refers to the bonuses that apply because of perks and abilities.


Acquiring New Skills:

As your character progresses, they may acquire new skills. They might learn to use a different type of nature manipulation, learn to use the summoning technique or acquire a skill related to a specific kekkei genkai such as the Byakugan or the Sharingan.

Once acquired, you simply add the skill to your character sheet and devellop it as you would any other. Keep in mind, however, that not all purchased skills will be related to a stat. The most common example will be for skills that are meant to temporarily increase the value of other skills, such as the Sharingan.

~Possessions~


This section, with no great surprise, refers to the various material possessions that your character possess, mostly in the form of weapons, armor and currency.

Even though at the time of character creation you may not have a lot to put in this section, remember that, depending on your character's equipment, the number of items it can carry will not be unlimited. For example, it is impossible to have "shuriken x 100" (unless your character is an ace in organizational skills!).


Currency:

Refers to the quantity of currency attached to this character. This basically means ryo, since guilkd participation currency is attached to the player and character creation exists only for the time of character creation.


Weapons:

Weapons carried by your character, both ranged and melee. A weapons will be provided by the academy at the beginning of your charcter's training so do no write anything in this section until it is awarded.


Other:

Any other possessions, including armor and equipment.
