Earlier in the evening the aurora, which had been lighting up the night sky for the past four nights, had started to look strange - very strange. Acting as it was...that wasn't normal, neither was the wind which had picked up through the city. It was the wind which had woken him, as it battered against the bedroom windows and disturbed his sleep.
It seemed sleeping curled up with, and around, Caleb helped some as the warmth was lulling enough to beat back some of what was affecting his sleep. Upon waking up he'd contemplated waking the other, not wanting to leave him in bed when something was clearly going on, though at first he figured it was just a winter storm, but he'd thought better of it and nudged the other awake gently to tell him he was going to check out what was going on - make sure everything was ok and they still had power. He didn't trust that power lines hadn't been brought down, it wouldn't be the first time the city had suffered such this winter.
He was glad he'd nudged the other awake though, as he'd come back from exploring the rest of the house, to let Caleb know that the lights outside, in the sky, were doing something abnormal. It was pretty though, undeniably so, but in a sense it was frightening as well. It wasn't normal, unless auroras now suddenly acted like this, and he was now really suspecting magical involvement.
Curled up on the couch, under some blankets due to being cold and still tired, he was watching the wind and the lights as they moved in a frenzy across the night sky. Shifting in place he came to settle himself in the others lap, legs on either side of Caleb's waist. Why did this city have to be plagued by such things? Laying his head on the others shoulder he was able, at his angle, to still see out the window and watch the light show outside.
"Can we stay here tonight and watch?" For however long it lasted, or however long they remained awake.

Caleb hadn’t heard any of the wind, and when Xi-Wang insisted that he wake up…honestly that was the last thing he wanted. Bed was so warm and comfortable, he followed though, grunting and drawing the heavy quilt with him to the living room. If he was going to be forced to be awake, at least he was going to stay warm while doing it.
The aurora was acting strange…it seemed to have turned into almost a maelstrom, swirling and causing wind gusts enough to almost break the windows…which would not have been an ideal situation in the middle of winter, not by any stretch of the imagination.
Giving a massive yawn, Caleb got himself comfortable on the couch, pulling the quilt around him, up to his chin as he watched, more than a little apprehensive. “I mean…we can, sure…but I have to say, I’m not liking the way that wind is blowing…it…it’s a little wild, don’t you think? If it breaks the window, we’ll have to think fast on what to do, on a night like this a broken window could literally leave us both frozen to death.”
A strange tinging sound began then, and Caleb frowned, getting up off of the couch and cautiously moving towards the window. Was it hail? Was this strange…rainbow storm now causing it to hail. That was all that he needed. There was a low rumble outside as well…could this just be a big thunderstorm? The wind seemed to have died down some at the very least, and Caleb let out a sigh of relief at that fact, though…
Hesitating for a moment, he opened the window, both glass and screen and stuck his hand out. The hail looked funny, and he wanted to see just what was going on.
When he withdrew his arm back into the warmth, he held several…well. Several what looked to be colored beads in his hand.
“What the heck?”

"Mmm, I know. But it could just as easily break the bedroom window and freeze us also." The idea was not something he fancied, not even a little bit, a broken window would normally be a bad thing because of the mess and the expense to fix the window...plus any bugs which came inside. In the winter though...it would be even worse, as Caleb had said. As if magically feeling colder, just due to the others words, Xi-Wang drew his own part of the bedding up tighter about himself.
Perking up a bit, when the sounds changed, he wondered what the tinging sound was. "Hail...?" He whispered, questioning no one in particular. This was getting even more crazy, it really was, and he didn't like it. Following a few steps behind Caleb, nearly tripping on the bedding he had gathered up about himself, Xi-Wang kept close as he watched the other.
Hesitating, wanting to tell the other to close the window, he was surprised by what came in when Caleb's hand returned. "I-I don't know...that's not normal though...." Far from it and he didn't like it. Reaching out hesitantly the dark haired male took one of the colorful beads. "It seems harmless..." But this wasn't normal and so it wasn't trusted. "Something strange is going on..."

Caleb snorted, shutting the screen first, and then the window with a thunk. “Are you really surprised though? It’s Destiny City. Everything’s always crazy here. There’s no stopping it…and so long as we live here, strange things will just keep happening.” He went to the kitchen and grabbed a clear glass from the cabinet, letting the strange beads fall into it, almost admiring the glass like tinkling that they made.
They didn’t seem to be made of ice…so obviously…they were just another thing that wouldn’t have any explanation.
Glancing out the window, the brunette snorted again, then sighed. “The aurora is magically gone too. I don’t know, Xi. We should have just stayed asleep. There’s nothing we can do, and now that the wind has died down…there’s no really danger to us.” There was still the soft tinkling noise as more of the strange beads fell from who even knew where, but Caleb was tired of caring…and moreover…he was just tired.
“Come on, Xi…why don’t we head back to bed…my head hurts and I just want a good night’s sleep for once…If you want to stay out here and watch for the aurora to come back…that’s fine…but I’m going back to bed.” He reached down and pulled the blanket back up over himself, yawning and rubbing at an eye, waiting a moment, and then heading back into the bedroom.
He would deal with the beads later. Tomorrow. Maybe he would see if there were more on the ground, or if the ones in the cup had melted…there were plenty of things to do…
Tomorrow.

Following after the other he couldn't help but nod his head in agreement. "This city used to be safe, when I was growing up..." He knew it had changed, he knew even more now, and he didn't like it. He didn't like that his city was dangerous, especially around the holidays, it took the fun out of living here and being young..and doing things. While he didn't do things really, aside from sleep and even game, he still saw how it bothered and upset other people and he felt for them. He couldn't help but wonder if that was why his sleep, and Caleb's, had been so messed up either. If only because it wasn't normal for him to have issues with sleep and now suddenly he had issues? The starting the same night they get an aurora?
Letting he bead in his hand join the others in the glass he shifted a bit and nodded his had. "Nothing now, we can look into this tomorrow maybe." Yawning he felt his eyelids, heavy and puffy, he needed sleep as well. "Mmm, sleep sounds good. I know you can't sleep well unless I'm with you." And the same could be said for himself. "More sleep would be good." For them both.
Moving to follow after Caleb, trailing a good ways behind, he made his way into the bedroom and flopping onto the bed he sought the other out immediately, as well as unwrapping himself so the blankets he had about himself could be properly shared.
"We'll figure them out tomorrow...." Yawning as he pulled Caleb against his chest and buried his face into the others shoulder. This wasn't normal and he wanted answers...he just didn't know where or how to get them...maybe someone else in his court could help?
