One day, in the very early morning hours, a strange, bluish fog rolls in. It floats low to the ground and is incredibly dense and incredibly cold. Anyone who inhales even a single breath from this fog will be met with a sudden, harsh sensation of sadness. It’s the worst part of the holidays—the Holiday Blues. The fog slowly spreads through the town and is gone by mid afternoon, but the sensation of sadness, loneliness, and nostalgia may linger for longer than that. Scientists are explaining the bluish tint as just being a natural phenomenon, but in Destiny City, ‘natural’ isn’t really something anyone should expect. Today would have been a good day to stay inside.
Bluebell wasn't one to normally be out and about so early in the morning. With the new year, came new year's resolutions. Mid-october she had discovered that she was a Senshi and since then she had been doing everything she could to fight what lurked in the darkness of Destiny City. She soon learned that there was a bit of a correlation between how strong you were in your Senshi form and how strong you were as a civilian. While she had never considered herself weak or lacking in stamina, she still wasn't exactly in peak physical form.
So, for her New Year's Resolution she decided to work out. Her parents thought she was joking. Little did they know that the next morning she was up bright and early and dressed for jogging. Her plan was to start her days with a light jog, come home for some breakfast, go to school like usual and hit the gym after. If she could keep this schedule, before long she'd be an unstoppable force as Sailor Tsih. Who expected such a small package to deliver such a powerful punch? No one, that's who. She'd win by doing the unexpected. Sure, she could rely on her magic, but that would only get her so far.
"Magic doesn't solve everything." Bluebell had muttered to herself as she opened up her front door and headed out into the cold. She had made it to the park by the time a fog started to roll in. With it the air around her grew cold and heavy, suddenly she was overcome by this wave of sadness. It slowed her feet and her breathe came out heavy. There was absolutely no reason for her to be sad, what she was doing was a good thing. So, why? Why did she slump down in the first bench she came across and throw her head into her hands.
She couldn't just sit out in the cold like this, not if she wanted to catch a cold. She must have walked in a daze, but eventually she found herself in a little cafe. To her surprise, other people inside seemed to be in a similarly gloomy state. She ordered her coffee from one of the most depressing cashier's she had ever met. Though, she was sure she wasn't exactly her usual ball of energy either. She found a seat in the corner, but from where she was she could see someone watching the news on their laptop.
Already there were reports about the strange fog that hugged the building she was it. While no one could explain what was making everyone sad, scientists were saying it's blue tint was caused by perfectly natural causes. Ugh, that was hard to believe. They were probably just coming up with anything to explain the unexplainable. Bluebell had a different thought, that much like the aurora that had plagued the city, this was some sort of magic that had gone out of control. What was the point in searching for the cause though? They had done nothing but waste energy in their attempt to discover the cause behind the aurora. Instead she just sat in her gloomy corner of the cafe and waited for the fog outside to leave before heading back home.
