Drinking wasn’t something he did much of, he could count on one hand the amount of times he’d ever drank, and yet after hearing the rave reviews for some new champagne he’d decided it was worth checking out. He didn’t know why he cared or why he was looking to make a purchase which he normally would never make, having no reason to do so, but Alexandre had found himself pushing his way around someone in order to make the purchase of a single bottle before fighting his way out of the liquor store.
Mostly unscatched, save for a bruise from some women's elbow hitting his side, the ashen blond was able to get home after the trip out. He’d been calling the local liquor stores and had been lucky enough to find one that had them on the delivery truck but had not off loaded them yet, it was the advanced notice which had gotten him there before most of the people turned up aiming to purchase the same thing he was there for.
As he stepped inside his home, glad for the warmth it offered, he wondered what Aiden would think of the completely unnecessary, and unusual, purchase as he hadn’t told his partner about the sudden idea. Really he wondered about all the hype he was hearing over it, not to mention he did wonder if it wasn’t some winter gone wrong thing, there was a certain level of distrust involved as well as he didn’t trust anything involved in winter and so the hype might just be everything people said it was...due to some magical influence and he wanted to know.
Slipping his shoes off, setting the bottle down onto the small table by the front door, he went to the coat closet to hang up his coat and leave his shoes on the mat there to dry. The scarf he had was also hung up to dry. “It’s snowing again.” He called out from the coat closet as he hung things up.
“It’s not heavy but the weather says it’ll pick up tonight.” He really was glad for the warm bedding he had, as he tended to get cold rather easily.
Stepping out of the closet, and closing the door, he headed for the living room, bottle again in hand. The warm, pale grey, sweater he wore doing a nice job in keeping him warm in the house.

“Lovely!” Aiden replied sarcastically from the kitchen where Cadah and Riley were dancing around his legs hoping he’d drop a piece of bacon on the floor; which he wasn’t even making. Come rain, sleet or snow; no matter what the weather did, he still had to work the next day. Thankfully it was only a half shift but when it would take over an hour to get there because the metro busses had been rerouted, it almost wasn’t worth it.
“I hope you’re hungry. Dinner is almost ready.” Using the tongs he flipped the chicken breasts over to brown the other side.

Stepping into the kitchen, a smile in place, Alexandre set the bottle down and after stepping around Riley and nearly tripping on Cadha the ashen blond was able to loop his arms about the others waist. “If the weather is too bad they might close your job for the day. If not I can drive you in.” So he wouldn’t need to worry about the busses and the car was warmer anyway. Peeking around Aiden, to see what he was making, Alexandre was smiling as he glanced over the cooking food. “Mmm, I splurged on something...not something I’d normally purchase but I think it might be worth it…” Trailing off, shrugging against the others back, the blond stepped back and moved to stand next to the stove top with his attention on his partner.

“Oh? s**t!-” Before he could inquire further, water from the pot on the back right burner began bubbling over the rim and sloshing onto the stovetop with an angry hiss.
“Riley! Cadah! Out!” Aiden’s voice rose as he pointed to the living room. Reluctantly the dogs obeyed albeit disappointed at having to leave. The corners of Aidens lips tugged downward into a deep frown when their tails drooped between their legs. “You’re not going to guilt me!”
“Jeeze, those two.” He turned around, running his fingers through his now jet black hair before moving the pot to the front burner. “Sorry, I- didn’t mean to shout. I was hoping to have this done before you got back.” Aiden leaned over and gave Alex a kiss on his temple. “Anyway, what did you buy?”

Somehow he wasn’t surprised when the water bubbled up and over the pot, and onto the stove top. As much as he wanted to clean it up, soak up the water, he wasn’t about to stick his hand onto the stove top with more than one burner on - nope. “Don’t worry, it’s just water. I’ll clean it once everything cools.” Looking to calm his partner, even as the other was pointing the dogs out of the kitchen.
It was a good thing they were both well trained, as they did head out as they were told to. “I assume they’ve both had dinner and just want ours now.” He could take them both a treat in a few and see if he couldn’t find a toy somewhere for them, likely under a couch or a table somewhere. Their toys seemed to find very good hiding spots; all the time.
“It’s ok, you’re doing fine.” Shaking his head, reaching out to run his fingers down the others jaw. “I understand they get me frustrated also when they get underfoot like that. And I don’t mind the wait.” Wrinkling his nose up he the blond drew Aiden in for a proper kiss before pushing off the countertop he went to get two glasses and the wine opener, showing it to Aiden as he passed him by on the way to the table where the bottle sat unopened. “That champagne everyone in the city is talking about. I managed to track down a bottle. I figured I’d see what all the hype was about.” Since he didn’t drink ever, something Aiden would know, it was unusual for him to purchase alcohol unless it was being used for cooking in some manner.
“Share a glass with me, relax a bit.” He offered while unwrapping the bottles top and going to uncork it.

“That actually sounds like a good idea. Why don’t you take our glasses into the dining room. I just need to get the plates ready then we can eat.” Aiden leaned over to fish the strainer out from one of the lower cabinets to drain the pasta. After which he filled each plate with half of what he had made then poured red sauce over the spaghetti before putting the chicken breast and layer of parmesan cheese on top.
“So how many places did you have to go to before you finally got a bottle?”

”Alright, let me do that.” And he did take the glasses out to the table, returning to get the bottle so he could set that on the table. He doubted they’d finish the bottle off, it would mean more drinking than he ever did, but they might have more than one drink.
Pulling a chair out for Aiden, even before the other arrived with dinner, Alexandre sat himself down to wait the few minutes for Aiden to arrive with dinner. “Do you need me to get anything from the kitchen or did is this everything?” Glancing about the table, even as he felt a nudge at his foot under the table. It was no surprise the dogs were under the table, hoping on of the two men would drop something for them to eat.
“Surprisingly only one. I was calling around looking for it and found a place that hadn’t off loaded their delivery for the day the...but it was listed as being in the delivery. So I headed down right away, I left in abit of a rush actually.” Ducking his head, it wasn’t the most normal of behavior for him, he’d honestly been a bit more interested in getting a bottle than he’d expected himself to be. “I think I got one of the first ones.”
