Quote:
The power’s out! On a cold day like today this is the absolute last thing you needed. But, despite how beautiful that ice on the wires is, it does not make for a friendly day filled with warmth and electronics! But, there should be trucks coming out soon to fix the issues, how do you cope with the slowly creeping chill? Are you the type to snuggle up with someone you care about and huddle down to keep warm? Or are you the type to get the heck out until it’s warm enough to once more inhabit your dwelling?

A power outage in the middle of winter was, in Xenia's opinion, The Objective ******** Worst. She was freezing and scared, and she hated the idea of having to deal with more cold bakc in the house and, as always, the generally somber atmosphere now that she was the only kid still at home. Her parents were getting hit with empty nest syndrome bad, and it meant that when they were in any way even mildly concerned about her, they were smothering as all hell. And oh, boy, was the house being cold making them super concerned. A girl could only take so many offers of warm blankets or heating pads or whatever else before she got really tired of it.

So she lied a little, said she was going toa friend's place, and powered up as soon as she was far enough from home that she could be sure they wouldn't see. As Xenia, at least, she had a pretty good amount of insulation from the cold, between her uniform and her magic -- and she could be very very sure that she was doing something worthwhile with her time, rather than lazing about at home like some kind of bum.

She hauled herself up onto a rooftop, and started jogging, the activity another way to hold onto some heat. This, she thought, patting herself on the back mentally, was the best idea she could have possibly had for staying warm and also being productive.

When the power went out in Paracelsian's dorm, he shivered, sighed, and then decided to just get out of there. It wasn't going to get any warmer, so he might as well pull on the good old Negaverse jacket and see if anyone was out and about. While he was making his rounds, he felt a point of light in the distance: a senshi. He had to investigate. He knew that senshi magic was very dangerous now, having experienced it for himself. Even if a brawl didn't ensue, he hoped he could do a little draining. Soon, he had landed on Xenia's rooftop, and he tipped his hat politely, as he tended to do.

"Greetings, senshi," he said. "How are you feeling today?" It was an indirect way of asking whether she felt like fighting or like being charitable. She looked awfully small and young... she must have been freshly awakened. Or some kind of plant, or something.

Xenia wasn't exactly afraid of the average Negaverse Lieutenant. They generally weren't all that scary, practically speaking, and so she wasn't nervous at all about putting her hands on her hips and staring one down when he joined her on her roof. He was being polite, too, and that made her tilt her head to the side and regard him with uncautious interest.

She liked the Negaverse, for the most part, and, hey, it would probably do her some good to have contacts other than Wavellite and her General when she went over to the dark side, or whatever was going to happen.

(As if that was in any way in doubt. She was going over to the dark side. It was just a matter of time and patience, at this point.)

So she gave him a remarkably genuine smile.

"Better than I was at home, honestly," she said, casually. "I mean, it's cold, but hey, being magical means you're warmer, so it's not like that's all that big of a deal." She shrugged her shoulders.

"What about you? Things going okay for you, Lieutenant?"

This senshi seemed remarkably unfazed by the appearance of a Negaverse Lieutenant right in her space. She was either very naive or the very opposite. Perhaps she knew what she was getting into, and that gave her uncommon nerves of steel. In any case, it was nice to receive a decent reception. "I suppose powering up does provide a little protection against the cold, though I'm lucky enough to have a jacket and gloves." He wondered if a little magical heating came with powering up; it would explain how some senshi could do so well in the cold. "I'm glad to hear things are going well on your end. As for me..."

Paracelsian gave a thoughtful pause. "Well, the power went out in my dorm. It was cold, so I decided I should just get out and do what I can. So, about that... would you be willing to donate some energy? It saves me the trouble of sneaking around civilians. For some, that's enough, for others, not so much. Let me know what you think, and we'll proceed from there." He didn't really want to fight this girl right now, but if she struck, he would have to counter.

Xenia nodded along with his words. "As best as I can tell, it does, anyway," she said, almost idly. At the least, she should be colder than she was, in her cutesy dress and stockings. She liked it, she really did, but there was no way she should be as comfortable as she was.

It was interesting the little facts she could pick up just from listening; he lived in a dorm, so probably a college student? That was kinda neat. She supposed it made sense that the Negaverse would recruit older, mostly.

"Donate...energy?" She blinked, and then shrugged. Sure, she'd done it before with Wavellite, and as long as he didn't go for the same draining method (a kiss from her girlfriend was one thing, but she'd pass on one from a dude that much older, ew) she was pretty okay with that. "Sure, why not?" She extended an arm. "Just, y'know, don't knock me out, it's cold."

"Magic is certainly convenient," Paracelsian said with a nod. When the senshi agreed and extended an arm, he took a step closer. "Thank you for making this easy. The last senshi I asked... he didn't seem to think that sparing civilians the trouble was good enough. That encounter was a bit unique, though." Gingerly, he took Xenia's hand and sucked in a breath, focusing on drawing out her energy. As the purple energy orb began to coalesce, he added, "Just let me know when you start to feel like that's enough, and I'll stop." He hoped she wouldn't chicken out and cut him off quickly, but he'd have to respect her wishes anyway, since he was being polite.

Xenia watched as the ball of energy coalesced in front of her with an interested sort of curiosity. She’d be doing this someday, she knew, and so it was important that she keep an eye on exactly how it was done. It wasn’t even that bad, really, just a little like slowly realizing you ought to have been in bed hours ago as the desire to sleep crept up on you.

She waited until the orb looked like it was a decent size, because she wasn’t going to be rude about it, before saying “stop,” firmly but politely.

She withdrew her arm from his grip, still smiling. “I hope that’s enough!” She said. “It wasn’t nice meeting you, Lieutenant. Maybe we’ll run into each other again.”

She gave a brief finger-wiggle wave, and then turned to go.

Even if Xenia hadn't pulled her arm away, Paracelsian would have stopped the draining on her cue. The senshi departed quite suddenly, and he barely had time to stuff the energy ball into subspace before she was gone. It certainly was enough energy; if he saw her again, he was going to have to thank her. She seemed open to the idea of meeting him again, which was nice; if he found a consistent donor, he'd be good to go. He stared in the direction she had left in for a bit, then walked off back to his dorm. Hopefully the heat was back on by now.
