Prompt If you were suspicious about the aurora that started up a few days ago, it seems like you have good reason to be. Ever since they began, no one seems to be able to get a good night’s sleep. Fatigue is setting across the town, making people a little extra cranky. It’s a complete downer to the holiday cheer but no one seems to know what to do. There’s no sign that there’s anything supernatural about the aurora, but there’s certainly something odd about it. People lucky enough to even fall asleep only get to rest for a few moments before they are violently jostled awake by the sensation of falling through a rainbow of colors. Some worse off may suffer from the sensation of drowning beneath strange, rainbow colored water. People are passing out from fatigue and some people are suffering from strange vertigo. There doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. s**t was getting real whack in Destiny City and Alrik Rey had found himself succumbing to the plague that had spread across a fair number of citizens. He'd woken up that morning as he had every other morning over the winter holiday, except today he'd woken up feeling like utter crap. What was supposed to be a good solid nine hours of sleep felt like he'd barely gotten thirty minutes - his body ached, his eyes were heavy and his thoughts were weary. The teenager had tried to go back to sleep again but dream after dream kept twisting into colorful, rainbow nightmares ( rainbow????) that forced him awake. Sometimes he was falling. Sometimes he was drowning. Either way, he didn't get much sleep. Forcing himself out of bed, he threw on some wrinkled, worn-yesterday clothing and trudged his way out the door and towards the arcade. If he couldn't get to sleep, maybe he could wake himself up with a little cold air and video games... right???

It was cold. It was hella cold. And there was a thing, up in the sky, that had been haunting her dreams. Look, Pythia had already seen some s**t in this life, okay? She had seen ghosts, and almost been cut by a zombie thing that was crawling out of her own grave, and there were like... magic people wandering the town stealing other people's souls and like... probably not putting them in a fridge, honestly, that joke was so out of date. Not that Pythia really was sure she was ready to know all the details about what these star seed things were actually used for. But really. Honestly. Good and hot-damned-truly.
She had not had to see any of this s**t on 0 sleep. She had not wanted to see any of this s**t on 0 sleep. She had negative desire to continue this long life if she could not get any sleep. Pythia would kill a man, woman, child, or small fluffy animal for a freaking nap. Not even a big nap. A little one would do just fine. The red-headed woman was exhausted, and at the end of her rope, and almost as strung out as a junkie who was off his candy. Or whatever they called their drugs.
Every time she tried to take a damn nap, she felt like she was playing agame of like... ******** rainbow unicorn attack or some s**t. The nausea, and the falling, and the vomit that spewed from the unholuy eyes and mouth of her enemies was just ridiculous, and she was still twitchy. Her wardrobe was becoming monochrome, a if to compensate- or to match the bags under her eyes that she was wasting one hell of a lot of money in makeup costs to try and cover up every morning.
And if the wasted funds didn't make her even more resentful, there was likely nothing else that could even come close and compare. Not even having to leave the house when it was a**-degrees outside (what the ever-loving was this weather, anyways?) and trudge her flippery a** around the neighborhood so she could try and lose some weight so she'd stop catching those youma side-eyeing her like they thought she was gonna be some tasty little dessert after they were done terrorizing the town; no sir, she was gonna get a bit more in shape and when they were coming at her she was gonna use her tired-a** muscle legs and kick them in their gosh-damned face.
The exhaustion was making her more openly aggressive than usual. Probably. Or it was the fact that when she wasn't exhausted she was still shaking her a** off. Maybe she didn't need to actually walk. Maybe she could just stand here, in the cold, vibrating herself to death. Teeth clattering so hard they were gonna chip- yeah, losing all her teeth would help her lose weight. She stomped along, arms in tight and close to her sides, not looking at anyone around, cursing everything that the world had to offer. Or not. She was so tired and angry, she really didn't care. Pythia just wanted to stop dreaming about drowning in rainbows.

The swirly, colorful sky up above had Alirk's attention - hell, whose attention didn't it have - enough to the point where sneakers scuffed down the sidewalk unaware of the direction they were headed in. It made sense to assume that no one else would bother going out in such miserable weather, where slush and snow mixed across the pavement and street, where people were already miserable with the current conditions. Who wanted to be cold and wet too? Apparently Alrik.... and apparently the woman Alrik managed to bump into, on his trek down the street all the while not paying attention. Dazed and confused, he fell back a few steps after impact as eyes flew up to meet the force that had abruptly stopped his walk. Eyes strained to focus on the young woman who looked fairly upset - aw, s**t. He wasn't in the mood to put up with woman-tude. "Hey, sorry about that..." He muttered, barely audible as one hand moved up to rub against the back of his head. "Didn't... didn't see you, yeah."

Of all the things Pythia wanted, contact was not one of them. Especially not unexpected contact, while she was feeling cold and murderous. She could, in theory, warm herself in the blood of this foolish little man who had stepped in her path like an abso-fu- an absolute moron. Imbecile was too harsh. Maybe. To be determined. She gripped the freezing wall that she'd grabbed when she was startled by this clodhopper, shoving up and pulling herself up to her unimpressive height. Her heavy jacket made her a bit fluffier than her usual, at least up top, and it was a bit difficult to find her hips to put her hands on, to make her scowl more impressive. She did her best, though.
"Didn't see me?" her voice rose, peeved, and a brow went in the air. "So my invisibility coat is clearly working. No one can tell I'm covered in enough layers to make Santa proud!" her voice dropped to a half-snarl, and her lip curled in irritation, before she bit out a low- "Yay." Her eyes were about to roll- she tried to stop them, but the effort broke her into a yawn. That might sound like a roar. "Whatever. You're excused, pleb. Watch yourself, unless you were planning on shoving some kid into traffic."

Wait... what the hell? His eyebrows furrowed, the two ends nearly meeting one another as the blonde young man found himself completely thrown off by the sudden aggressive nature of the young woman. He hadn't... he hadn't bumped her that hard, had he? So why the hell was she acting like he'd stomped over her favorite cat or something???? "I said I was sorry, lady," he huffed as his fist curled up automatically at his side. Okay, so no punching. She was a chick, after all. And it wasn't like he was Epidote - no starseed snatching either, ugh. Whatever. "You don't have to be a b***h about it, christ." He took a step forward, standing upright so that all of his six foot, one inch self could do some intimidating looming... only to find himself teetering, the loss of motor control not helping matters. Even as he tried hard to stare her down, he felt light-headed... what the ******** was going on? "Just because... you're a chick.... I don'... I don't...." And, just like that, the exhausted, worn out teenager fainted on the sidewalk, his head crashing into a pile of snow nicely lining the cement walkway.

Those fat-faced eyebrows drew together, and Pythia watched him draw up, so much taller than she herself was, and her spine stiffened. Kind of. She was a little too tired to go ramrod straight- and she hardly noticed his own swaying with her own angry roar-yawn.
"Don't you think just cause I'm a girl-" she informed him, as he vanished. What? Oh. There he was. On the ground. Like... bowing. Or sleeping. "That's right," she informed him, and went to step over him, "Sleep on the ground tlike the gross lit-"
Her foot caught. She tripped. Her head crashed into the snow next to him. And she was out.
Just chilling in the snow.
Ghouliboo Oh look, it is the FIN we discussed.
