Aquila loved winter. Most wolves probably hated it. Most prey went into burrows and shelter to escape from the blistering cold. But for the female lone wolf? That only created more of a challenge. Others that were of her kind being bitter was just an added bonus for her entertainment. Food meant nothing if there wasn't a bit of a challenge.
Much like now. The dark pelted wolf had decided to travel to the northern wood for a bit of a challenge. The lack of water life didn't phase her. Fish were a bit too easy to catch for her tastes. Animals that rarely came out though....they were fun. She grinned wide and placed another large branch over the top of the hole that she had created. It wasn't big enough to kill a wolf but any small woodland creature wouldn't be able to get out unless they dug. It was perfect. She wouldn't even mind another wolf stepping on it. The look on their face would be worth it.
Speaking of which...her nose went to the air and sniffed. Someone smelled close. She quickly moved back into the brush while covering her tracks with a spare branch. It wouldn't be fun if the other saw her next to her trap, after all.
