Quote: Ice and snow? Fine. Hail? Slightly less fine. Large, icicle-like shards of ice falling from the sky? Horrifying. For no apparent reason, Destiny City is plagued with another strange phenomenon, only this one can strike at any time. The icicles plummet from the sky with no warning, regardless of a clear or cloudy sky. The spikes range in size from a few inches up to two feet. Sometimes only one might fall, or sometimes a torrent of them, but they never fall far longer than a minute at a time. So far, injuries and damage have been reported across the city. How are you faring? It was inevitable that Encke would end up powering up, all things considered. For one, there apparently were reports of spikes falling from the sky, which was just about the craziest thing he had heard this year outside of whole "auroras leave people unable to sleep" and "spiders, lots of spiders, actually," incidents, which honestly made this only one of the most absurd things he had found out about this year. Encke sighed. This city was ridiculous. But he figured, as a senshi, it was his job to make sure the city was protected, and that meant doing more than his usual running patrols. He was actually moving relatively slowly, taking his time, trying to keep himself under things for the most part so he didn't risk getting smacked with ice or, worse, impaled by it. He was watching out for anyone that seemed to be on the ground, stuck in the snow, or even impaled themselves. Yeesh. He hadn't heard of any deaths yet, but considering it was literally falling ice... Cautiously, he moved from one location of relative shelter towards another location of relative shelter, a small hut next to a bus stop.

Soul considered himself a walking encyclopedia of superstitions. You wanted to know what kind of superstitions there were in the world he knew most of them, down to every concievable bit of information he could find on them. Including a counter agent to right whatever bad luck may come from said superstition. You could also bet that if he didn't know about one he could at least find several places in which to learn about them. And add them to the growing list of things to be wary of and find a counter for. It wasn't his fault he was like this but it was far too ingrained into him to stop being superstitious. Somethings you couldn't change no matter how much you might have wanted it to. Which was why he always had several charms on his person to help ward away bad luck and why he probably, usually, seemed a little weird in his walking around of Destiny City. Of course this was Destiny City so weird was concievably a normal for the sprawling metropolis. Giant icicle-like shards falling from the sky either singularly or in large groups however was a little weird for the weirdness that was their city. Honestly he kind of considered it the straw that broke the camel's back (even if he had no way of actually leaving the city until he could finish school, get a proper job and save up). What was so wrong with this city that weird things had to keep happening like this?? Careful of the cracks in the sidewalk as he moved from snow dusted grass to actual pathway, the superstitious young man did his best to make his way for the nearest bus stop in his attempts to get home. Not that he should have been out in the first place but he couldn't miss a boxing practice, even in terrible weather like this. Especially since his grandfather was inclined to give him a talking to later about it. Things he knew now that he wished he'd know before: Never get lessons in anything from your relatives. And of course he would end up in an uncovered portion of city sidewalk when the horrible sound of ice shattering against the pavement reached his ears. For a moment it was very glass sounding and he'd found himself forced to look around in almost panic. Because he wasn't going to go through that hell all over again. There was a hint of relief when he found it to be just a huge shard of ice, because at least it's not mirrors, only to be replaced with horror as the sound came again. Along with the realization that the first thing had been a giant ice shard and the second had been as well. Which meant the icicle hellscape was starting again and he was not under any cover at all. Blue eyes darted around in a panic, searching for any cover he could find. A bit of ways up ahead was his bus stop, which thankfully offered some cover. It might not be enough but it had to be better then standing around in an open space. The only problem was, if he ran there was a high probablity of stepping on a crack. "Fffffffffffffffffffffffffffff-" groaning, Soul glanced down to the cracks then up again. Swallowing he took a chance, continuing for the bus stop as quick as he could while being mindful of the cracks. If Lady Luck loved him even just a bit, she'd spare him from the ice long enough to get to safety and not have to add more bad luck to his name by stepping on a crack. His mom didn't deserve that.

Encke made it to the bus stop relatively unimpeded, and turned around to observe the environment around him. Naturally, there weren't a whole lot of people out and about. Considering the plague of ice spikes falling from the sky at random, that really wasn't surprising. If he wasn't more inclined to actually help his fellow citizens, he probably would have stayed inside himself. No need to get out of the house was worth being stabbed by some death spikes. He faced enough danger on a normal night of patrolling, even if he spent most of that time just running away from it. He was facing the other way when he heard the admittedly jarring noise of ice actually hitting the ground. Until this point, he had been lucky enough to avoid it. His head nearly snapped in the direction of the noise. There was a boy there. He was in danger. He looked like he was making his way towards Encke, but he was doing so in the most awkward way possible why did it seem like he was trying to avoid every crack on the ground why did it matter they weren't going to hurt him like the ice spikes falling from the sky would he was going to get stabbed with a spike-- Adrenaline took over, and Encke darted out from under the bus stop to the teenager and unceremoniously scooped him off the ground. "You shouldn't be out here in this--" Encke jumped as a ice spike grazed his arm, likely jostling the teenager he was attempting to hold onto in the process. Aw hell-- He darted back towards the bus hut.

Encke's luck only changed because Soul, himself, was cursed with bad luck. And while he knew several people who's own luck tended to cancel out the effects of his luck on them, the unlucky chance that icicles would fall from the sky today seemed to outweigh any good luck Encke himself might have had. Maybe. It was honestly hard to say and he wouldn't find himself thinking too hard on it while he did his best to run and dodge stepping on cracks. Which wasn't easy and he certainly wasn't running as fast as he would have liked. Which is how he found himself in some weird guy's arms?? No, no! Now he couldn't see the cracks! "Well, no maybe not," he replied, squirming to try and see while the odd man in purple was trying to avoid the falling shards while trying to hold on to him and honestly this was not the best arrangement ever. Though as Encke found himself grazed and Soul was jostled, he may have clung a bit to the redhead. "Er.. sorry. I don't suppose there's a way to... not stop on the cracks, is there? I have more then enough bad luck in my life and I would hate for it to end up rubbing off on my mother just because a crack was stepped on." Though that led him to wonder... "Or would it be your mother? Since you'd be the one stepping on the crack. Oh that's even worse. Please don't risk your mother for me!"

... Really? He froze in his tracks to give a rather odd look at the other. How old was this kid? He was definitely old enough to no longer believe in this step on cracks, break your mother's back nonsense, right? It was almost impossible to avoid stepping on some kind of crack considering it wasn't like all the sidewalks in the city were in pristine repa-- Encke squawked in a rather undignified manner as another icicle came flying by his body, taking off a bit of skin from his arm this time. He glanced at it balefully, but didn't let it stop him, making the rest of the way over to the bus stop. He wasn't really paying attention to the cracks, not overly much, but his strides were long and fast enough that he was barely touching the ground anyway. "My mother will be fine," offered Encke, in a rather delayed reaction, setting the teenager down inside the hut. At the very least, there wouldn't be any icicles there, for now. Could they penetrate the shelter? He was fairly sure that it wasn't made out of glass, perhaps a sturdy plastic. That likely wouldn't fall victim to falling death ice spikes, right? Hrm. It seemed fine for now; it wasn't like it was falling ... that fast, right?

He knew how stupid it sounded, how many people teased him for stupid things like that, but really there was no helping it at this point. And it wasn't like he expected the other to heed his request, he couldn't make some one do something they didn't want (especially not in such a perilous moment) but he had to at least try. Something along the lines of which his mind had been chanting as a way to try and squash the anxiety of not having a choice in the matter of if cracks were stepped on or not. Though he did feel rather bad that the other was getting injured trying to save him. "I hope so, though one can never be too careful." He may have already sent a text to his own mother once he was settled under the bus stop cover, phone slipping back into his pocket as he tried to peer out and around the roof. Another icicle was careening down towards the ground not too far from their location but it seemed they would be fine. Maybe. So far they seemed to be falling around the bus stop. With that little bit of knowledge he turned to his saviour and glanced at him curiously. "Ah, I should thank you for the rescue I suppose. Though you did get injured so I'm sorry." Maybe he had a handkerchief in a pocket of his coat...

Keeping his eyes on the outdoors just in case they did end up needing to move again, Encke was turned away from the boy he brought in, concentrating on the icicles. Naturally, another one came and shattered rather dramatically against the pavement, breaking apart into a bunch of tiny little pieces. Hopefully this icicle nonsense stopped soon. Encke didn't exactly want to be stuck under a bus stop for the next half-hour. "What?" Encke took his eyes from the outdoors and looked back at the boy he had rescued from the outdoors. Not that they weren't still outdoors, but at the very least, they were under a shelter with some kind of roof that wasn't super likely to be penetrated by the damn icicle rain of death-- "Oh." Right, he was bleeding. He might want to do something about that. Encke glanced back over to his arm and observed the bit of blood that was dripping from it, leaving a red trail. He was fairly sure Richard would be asking about that later-- "Don't worry about it. I'm just glad you're safe." As he said this, he moved to pull down one of his arm bands so it would more safely cover the injury. It wasn't exactly a tourniquet, but even a bit of pressure should help things. Once he had the armband properly situated, he shrugged and vaguely gestured towards the injury. "This stuff is kind of part of the deal."

It could be though, which was probably why Soul kept turning his gaze from outside the bus stop to the bus stop's roof then to the brightly dressed man. Who, as he looked at him a second time, he realized he didn't know the name of. Or.. even who he was. Oops. Great first impressions there. "Part of the deal?" he couldn't keep himself from asking. "Is that part of why you're dressed up like you belong under a blacklight? Ah-" That... was a little mean, wasn't it? "I mean, that's not a bad thing or anything. I'd just been thinking about how much brighter you probably glow under a blacklight and- Aw hell. Hi, my name's Soul and I like to put my foot in my mouth."

Dressed like he belonged under a blacklight? Encke took a closer look at his outfit. White shirt didn't really give the impression of a blacklight, but the purples and blues? He could see it. The kid--Soul--seemed concerned he had put his foot in his mouth, but Encke was actually laughing. "Well, it's sort of the reason why I'm wearing this outfit. The outfit itself is part of the gig, so to speak." He lifted his hand to squeeze where he had adjusted the armband to. It was turning a little red. He might have been bleeding a little more than he expected he was. Ah well. Eventually it would stop. The further pressure would help. Hopefully. He wasn't about to run back into the icicles to get so more help. He'd wait for that to stop and wait for Soul to get safely inside before he dealt with that. "I'm a sailor senshi," explained Encke, simply, which probably sounded ridiculous to the person he was talking to. So he continued a bit further, adding, "You know those superheroes you read about in comics? Kinda like that. I'm a superhero." He grinned a bit to himself. He supposed he was a superhero.
