Prompt
Caroling has been a tradition for years, so it’s really no surprise when you hear a soft chorus from outside. What is a surprise is the fact that it’s three in the morning, and the moment they start singing you feel a chill in the air. It’s a song you’ve heard a hundred times before, but something about this version makes you go cold. If you move to the window, you will find no carolers, but the song is loud enough that you know you should be able to see them. They sing one song, and then there is silence. An eerie chill lingers, and your dreams are haunted by strange voices. You’ll probably never be able to hear that song again without feeling a chill.

Nischal's holiday season was such utter bliss compared to years past. His home was filled with the sweet, lovely scent of fresh baked cookies and a tree was put up in a corner with love as he and Jason spent the day together, not leaving the house. Not every day had to be filled with exploring the city and spending money, after all. Some of the best days for him were spent on the couch with his love, sipping cocoa and playing a video game or two.

It was such a content feeling being with him, that loneliness that always seemed to plague him before vanished without a trace at his side.

And by his side he was more than happy to stay, ever so slowly trying to approach the conversation of having Jason move in with him. The very thought of it had his cheeks flaring up and his hands coming to try to hide just how nervous he was in asking that question. It shouldn't be this hard, given the fact that they were nearly inseparable to begin with! But Doubts upon doubts kept Nischal from saying what he wanted, and in the end, he decided to wait. What they had together right now was perfect, and he really didn't want to ruin any of it.

He remained quiet on that question for the rest of the evening, instead focusing on the cookies they baked together to bring to Jason's parent's house in the next day, and on wrapping gifts they had gathered up to add to the massive pile they were already sure to be under the tree. Dinner was always a favorite, too much pizza and lounging on the couch again until the clock showed that it was time to sleep. The end of the wonderfully festive day came with him lying with Jason in his arms, legs intertwined as they slept peacefully together in the large bed that they shared. All seemed so well in the world, for once in their crazy, chaotic lives.

Of course nothing stayed peaceful in Destiny City, and the sound of a large group of Carolers seemed to echo in the apartment.

"Mrph..." The two of them didn't exactly go to bed early, and when Nischal turned over to check the clock, it said three in the morning... Who the HECK went out caroling at three in the morning?! And on the 29th floor of a down town apartment building?!

At first, he chose to ignore it, drawing Jason closer to him, thinking that Security would at least be around soon with all the complaints the carolers would face fro causing such a disturbance. Minutes passed though, and it seemed they hadn't had a single care to leave, leaving Nischal feeling irritable in his own grumpy way... But he knew sometimes things in this City were strange and unusual, so to make sure that he wasn't just losing his mind, he pulled away from Jason, giving his lover a small shake and a kiss on his cheek to wake him up.

"Hey... Do you hear that? Those people singing..?"

Jason's holiday season was always one filled with a joy and parties. While he did work during this time of year, he still had more time to spend with his family and friends than usual. It was usually a very 'busy' time of the year for him, but things were a little different this time around. For the first time ever, he was in a fairly serious relationship. Spending time with Nischal was proving to be way more enjoyable than his crazy party ways with Kailey, though he made sure to spend time with her as well.

They didn't spend every night out in town either. He honestly enjoyed their nights inside as much as he did out. It was truly the most relaxed and comfortable he had felt in a long time. They were basically inseparable these days. Jason brought Nischal over to his parents' house, they spent time at both their apartments, and he found his father asked fewer questions about school when the other was around. Though, he knew soon enough they'd have to go down the road of 'you're not going to be a doctor?'

All of that was out of his mind though as the day went on. They played games, ate some pizza, and cuddled up together when they were both finally ready for bed. It was so easy to fall asleep with Nischal's arms wrapped around him. It also helped that the bed in his apartment was huge and incredibly comfortable.

That comfort didn't last forever. At first Jason assumed he was still half-asleep when he first heard the song ringing through the apartment. He stretched out in his sleep and brushed a strand of hair out of his face. It took him longer than he would like to admit to realize something was very weird about the singing.

"I thought I was dreaming it or something at first." He rolled over onto his back and looked up at Nischal who had propped himself up. "It doesn't make any sense for carolers to be here though..." He listened to the song a bit closer down and felt a little chill run down his spine. He pulled the blankets up closer, before sitting up in the bed.

"It doesn't sound right either...." He wanted to believe that someone was just messing with them. Surely they were just playing some loud music in another apartment. But the music was so clear, it didn't sound like a tape they were hearing through a neighbor's wall.

"Sadly, not a dream... Who in the world would be so rude...?" It did sound so close, eeriely close, as if it was just outside the window of his apartment, but he knew just how impossible of an idea that would be. They were up on the 29th floor. No one was going to have scaled his apartment building just to sing out some old Christmas tunes. So it had to be some jerks just standing outside his door. For what reason, he didn't know, but he wasn't about to let them ruin their sleep for much longer.

"I'll go check it out, okay?" While he wanted to tell Jason to stay in bed, there was a good chance the other wouldn't listen, and to be honest, he didn't want to go alone. As big as he was, he was still a soft, tenderhearted young man who startled easily. With a sigh, and with another kiss pressed to Jason's cheek, he sat up and got out of bed, grabbing a robe that lay on a chair not too far away.

"Hopefully it won't take much to get them to leave... I'd really rather not call security.."

It was unusual for people to go around at three in the morning with the intention of being creepy. He could understand if this was October, but in December? It was all sort of throwing him for a bit of a loop. Maybe it was a group of people that hated the Holidays for one reason or another. Out to ruin it for as many other people as possible. This did seem like taking things a step to far though, he was honestly surprised someone hadn't called the cops on them if they were doing this all night.

"Probably just a group of Scrooges...." He was quick to follow Nischal out of bed though, like he was going to let him confront those creeps on his own. They could make a united front, plus he was a little worried Nischal might be too gentle with them. It was three in the morning and they ought to know that they were disturbing people. He had his own robe that he pulled on, he basically lived here after all, and then followed after his boyfriend.

"Why here of all places anyway? It would be easier to go troll a neighborhood." Not to mention easier to get away if someone did call security or the cops on you. In a building like this you were screwed if you wanted to make a get away.

Just as he thought, Jason followed him. He was really glad they got extra clothes for the other to keep here. They did practically live with one another at this point. And his presence helped prep him for the confrontation he was about to face.

And yet when he reached the door, the music didn't seem to be coming from behind it. Peeking through the hole there, there was no one... And opening the door, sicking his head out lead to the same result. No one.

Not a single person to be seen all the way up and down.

The music was still there, louder than ever. It felt as if it was coming from behind them, towards the glass windows and the balcony out there...

"... Maybe it's someone next door singing with their friends on their balcony? Drunk people do foolish things, ahaha..." Inside in pleaded with whoever was listening that that was the case.. If it was no one else... He really didn't want to move, but he was fairly certain he didn't have the stomach for too big of spooks.

Jason wasn't took worried at first, he was fairly certain someone was just messing with them. But, when they made their way over to the door and there wasn't a single soul in the hallway, suddenly he wasn't so sure that it was a prank. When Nischal mentioned the balcony he turned around with his arms crossed and made his way over to the door that let outside.

"This is getting ridiculous." He was obviously annoyed at this point, he didn't exactly handle being woken up in the middle of the night by some troll very well at all. He was also totally in denial that something spooky was going on. His brain did not want to deal with that right now. When he opened the door and stepped outside though, he didn't see anyone on their balconies, yet the sound was still there. It ended shortly after that though and a chill ran down his spin.

"I'm...still not giving up on someone ust playing something on a speaker or something..." It would be easy enough to hide a bluetooth speaker outside to creep your neighbors out. And this chill he had? It was totally because of the night air. Definitely the night air.

Nothing. Again, there was nothing found on their search around for the culprit of the musical harassment, just the faint sound of it disappearing and a cold, cold shiver traveling down his spine. This feeling was far too familiar, being out of control of the situation and he truly just... Did not want to deal with it.

"Let's just... Go back to bed." He finally said after a long moment of waiting for the music to come back. When it did not, he laced his fingers with Jason's and pulled him back towards the bedroom, leaving no room to protest. This time, however, when he went into the bedroom and closed the door behind him, he may have tried to sneakily lock the door. No reason not to, it would just feel a little bit safer.

It only took a moment after that to shed his robe and get back into bed, scooting all the way to the middle so he could put his arms around Jason once he joined him. Gods knew he needed the touch bad right now.

"If there's really anything going on, we'll hear about it in the morning, okay?"
