[PRP-plot?] The art of gentle (Lillibeth and Kalare)

The ground amused her from time to time, this trip netted some blue snap dragons and some sort of big purple-ish flower she had no clue the name. Rather no interest in learning said name in the first place. It was pretty so it became hers. Items safely in manicured hands, one gorgeous red and gold harpy returned to her family's nest. To day was a special day, indeed, just thinking about it made her want to coo.

That gorgeous hunk of harpy feathers may have left with just memories, probably a good thing for her relationship with her sister, there was another treasure. Two perfect little harpy chicks. Whenever possible she offered to take one off her sister's talons for one on one time. This day she decided to spend it with her favorite niece in the whole world, Kalare.

The nest, better than anything an ordinary harpy could manage, stayed safe from any that dared to visit unannounced. It was home and family with all she cared about in one place. The little filthy gnome did not count! What would be ominous to anyharpyelse, her shadow circled her sister's next with sharp eyes looking for the little blue fluffball of cute.

It was a far finer nest than any harpy down on the isle would have created, clearly. Every comfort a gentle bird could ask for. At the moment, a little blue ball of fluffy down and feathers was nestled by herself, twisting a few sprigs of straw between her fingers. No idea what she was doing other than the fact that she was bored, she twisted the straw, tying some rough knots, twisting again. Not even close to proper braiding.

Ugh, bored.

She didn't like being left alone. Mom was probably off with her brother again. He got all the attention. Stupid brother.

Tossing the straw aside, she spread her arms and flopped back dramatically on her back. Boooooooored--

A shadow passed over the nest and Kalare recognized a familiar figure up above. Auntie! She sat up quickly with an excited squeak and scrambled to her talons. Oops! Hurriedly, she brushed her ruffled feathers down smooth and ran her hands swiftly over her hair. Couldn't let Auntie see her looking messy! With the quick grooming finished, she looked up again to find her Aunt in the sky and wave to her enthusiastically.

Ah, there was that feathery blueberry! With effortless grace, the golden harpy circled the nest gliding with her back to the nest allowing tight circles. Once low enough she flipped in the air to land with hardly any blow back from her wings. There was beauty in grace!

"My sapphire, little gem, I've brought you a little gift Kalare" Singing as much as she was speaking, Lillibeth joyfully weaved the snapdragons into a small crown fit for a princess. "Have I told you, you are my favorite niece lately?" Being her only niece was hardly point.

The only fluff ball wasn't here, all the better for thier bonding day. Flying pratice maybe, grooming tips or even teaching her the joys of a good spa? Oh the choices.

After her aunt touched down, Kalare bounded over to her, taking special care not to trip over her own talons. Again. That had been embarrassing last time. "Thaaaaank yooooou!" she chirped, tilting her head slightly to allow for the placement of her new crown. Once it was in place, she looked back up at Lillibeth with shining eyes, hands clasped in front of her. "Not today, Auntie!" Cue batting eyelashes.

Her hands clasped behind her back now as she shifted her weight from one foot to the other. Auntie said that made her stand up straight better. "The flowers are pretty, Auntie. Where'd you get them? Can we get more? You need a crown too!" Or maybe they were going to do something else today? It didn't matter to Kalare; she was just happy to have some company and Auntie Lillibeth always made her feel special.

Every day the little chicklet was getting more prefect, she couldn't be more proud! A little re-positioning of a shoulder to give the chick a better stance, just a minor correction. Such a brilliant little girl, she was quick to learn. "You are very welcome, little jewel. My favorite niece" Trilling out the phrase with her perfectly manicured thumb giving a stroke the girl's lovely hair. Genetics had be oh so kind to the little gem.

From a smirk growing into a full warm smile, Lillibeth asked, "Oh? Do you want to go for a flight?" Wide eyes with playful rise of delicate brow, the gentle harpy waited for conformation. Eventually the little chicklet would wow the sky with skills only her kind possessed. Keeping her feathers and hair prefect was a skill only her flock truly mastered.

Kalare's eyes went wide at the suggestion and she gasped, which ended with a slight squeak. She put her hands over her mouth, then whispered with shining eyes, "Can we?!?" She loved flying. Not that she could do so herself yet, or else she'd probably never come down to the ground again. For now, she had to settle for being taken up into the air, but one day...ONE DAY! One day, she'd be able to spread her wings when they were fully grown and fly up, up, and away to anywhere she wanted to go! She couldn't wait and some days she just stood on the ground flapping her wings, when no one was looking of course, to see if she could fly yet.

No luck so far.

Hopefully, she could figure it out before her dumb brother could. That'd show him. Ha!

Smirking with pride, Lillibeth cooed to her little niece, "They only pretty things down there are the flowers," With just enough bend to scoop up her little niece she finished with a gentle bop on the nose and words of advice, "The poor dears need our beauty in their lives. We'll go shine, not that you could do anything but!" It was a service of the highest order to share the lovely that was her little niece with the sad beings below.

If that gnome could see her darling chick even he'd be unable to muster the pebbles to try and sass. Try being the key word.

Taking a few moments to cuddle with the little girl, singing a few bars of no song in particular. Too soon for her, she pulled the chick back just enough before giving a wink.

Two steps and they briefly free-fell. Confidence of a born flyer, Lillibeth didn't so much as look ruffled as she kept her careful grip on the girl and allowed the air to fly between them. Good practice, feeling the air surround her to encourage those little wings.

With some pressure put on her left wing, the adult turned a full one eighty then let the winds truly catch her wings. Powerful strokes created the lift needed to stabilize them and work to catching that air current. Each harder pull of the wings coincided with the smallest amount of pressure into her hold of the chick.

Once the current caught her wings allowing her to soar with more ease, so too did the slight movements ease only occurring when she fully flapped her wings. There was a rhythm to flying when to give and when to demand from the air. Her way was the only way she knew how to show that.
