Hope this is decent! If anything needs to change, please let me know!

Another night, another quota. Carnelian sighed into the stinging wind, laying the homeless man against the alley's brick wall and covering him with the sleeping bag and blankets from nearby. Depositing the energy orb into his jacket pocket, the corrupt made to rebraid part of his hair mussed during the submission of the transient. He'd remain warm, Carnelian was sure, since murder wasn't really his style. He was a senshi of pain, not death.

That being said, green eyes went wide when a blistering and bright aura flared to life on his peripherals. Stronger than he was, the corrupted senshi bristled. Not a senshi, likely a Knight. Most of them were kind and understanding (which was great for Carnelian), but it was impossible to tell without knowing who they were.

He couldn't outrun them, could he? Curiously, the corrupt started his series of jumps - ground to dumpster to wall, back and forth to the rooftops. Maybe then he could gauge the threat and act accordingly.

She felt the aura of chaos like a bad smell on the night wind, woven through the sharp chillness of it to perk her instincts. Thus far, she'd had success testing herself against the Negaverse's abominations, but she'd held off taking on anything bigger. Not till she felt she had a firmer grasp of her abilities and limits... Gehenna was good for sparing and showing her what to do, but that wasn't the same as being alone, against a real foe.

The alley cut the wind as she passed between the buildings, the thick mass of her hair falling to hang in a mane down her back. Stealth was not her forte, not with armor that shone and clanked faintly against itself when she moved, so Tanais didn't bother trying to hide herself as she approached. She caught sight of the still figure on the ground just as she felt the aura moving away from her and her lips peeled back from her teeth in a snarl.

A quick check thankfully revealed the man was still breathing and probably in a better place than he'd have been if he'd drunk himself into a stupor. He probably wasn't going to expire if left alone, and while she felt a pang at leaving him, her quarry was running and there would be no justice for him if his attacker escaped unscathed. The height to the top of the wall was eyed before the mars knight gathered herself and leaped, marveling all over again at the power this form held. Her armored boots hit the roof hard with a grate of metal on gravel and then she was off, aiming for the source of the bad sense.

Movement caught her eye and her grin widened, sharp edged and eager. Not getting away from me. She promised herself and the man she'd left behind, putting on a burst of speed to close the distance between them.

Sorry about the wait! Feel free to sock him right in the face (or other places) if you want. XD

"....oh my god..." he breathed, simply shocked into a moment of stillness by her incredible speed and prowess. She looked as though that armor weighed a good amount, and yet she moved as though it were cloth...? Her hair was raven black, sleet and beautiful as she sailed through the air, landing on the rooftop almost effortlessly. "...oh my god...!" Green eyes widened as Carnelian realized all too late that Tanais was damn good at chasing her quarry, closing the distance between them much faster than he had anticipated.

Where the hell did she come from?!

The corrupted had to save some energy for teleportation, lest he not make it out alive. In a pinch, he could probably use the energy orb and--ohgodhereshecomes. The Mars Knight was like a freight train and the corrupted senshi truly had never seen anything remotely like her.

In a whirl of panic, Carnelian turned to face this oncoming bull whose eyes were seething and locked onto their target. Dear god. In a prayerlike motion, the corrupted senshi knew Knights were the parallel to their Negaverse officers, who were swifter and stronger than he could ever hope to be. Whatever Tanais had planned, Carnelian winced and expected it to hurt.

Releasing his magic was about all he could do, hoping to slow her down enough to make an escape.

"Pain!"

Pain
Carnelian holds up his hands and looks like he's praying. He breathes the name of his attack and bands of white energy form around the target he is currently facing. There is a two second delay before the energy bands collapse and dissipate into the target, causing pain to erupt in a part of their body. The pain is much like a muscle spasm or like one's leg falling asleep - prickly and painful. These bands can be dodged because of the delay and the limited range of the attack, and allies can be hit with it. The effect wears off after one minute. He can use this twice per battle. The target can only be hit when within ten feet of Carnelian.

The appearance of white bands of light nearly pulled the knight up, unsure what devilry it was, but at the speed she was going, it took only a couple long strides to be through it. At that point, she had more to focus on than wondering what would have happened. Gravel crunched under ever step she took and the night air was cold as it brushed her cheeks, tangling in her dark hair. She decided, as long as stepping through didn't trigger it, it wasn't something to worry over much about.

Her prey was more important. A clench of her fists summoned the golden metal of her gauntlets, wrapping her hands in the snarling heads of lions, and she drew back as she closed the distance with long legs, catching the gleam of street lights on her knuckles.

He wasn't moving, which was a bad idea on his part and hopefully what would cost him this battle. A stationary target was so much easier to hit, and now she had her momentum behind her... Almost six feet of muscle at near top speed, as much the train as he had thought she was. Not quite the Bull of Mars, but close enough this time.

Tanais led with her first, fingers tucked and safe inside their metal shells. The aim was for his jaw as she stamped down hard on one foot, arresting her forward motion and transferring the energy up the length of her body into the arm that snapped forward. She had a moment, a split second, to register long red hair and a handsome face with eyes of a sunny green before her fist eclipsed her view. Pretty, but not for long.

Tanais says, I see your magic and also <******** you (and I love it)

Also, I had to, because it's hilarious, and Tanais deserves an undisputed KO. I figured he'd flee after your next post.

She just... ran through it.

She just... ran through it.

Carnelian was dumbstruck, both confusion and horror mixing on his face. Tanais was like a freight train and the corrupted senshi was too shocked to move out of the way. She outranked him, she was running at top speed and he simply didn't have the presence of mind to save his own skin in the split second he had to make the decision. Ultimately, it would cost him dearly.

It was but a blink of an eye before her armor-clad fist connected solidly with his beautiful face, the CRACK resonating through his body. The force with which Tanais practically murdered his visage was incredible, sending the corrupted senshi sailing over the edge of the building and into an open dumpster in the alley below.

Carnelian's vision swam, the corrupt senshi spitting up blood as the world around him sunk and spun in unnatural ways. The stench of the dumpster would have filled his nose had blood not already taken up all that space. The redhead narrowly missed slamming his head into the metallic lip of the dumpster. The corrupt may have missed brain damage, but Tanais guaranteed he wouldn't be using his pretty face to manipulate anyone in the foreseeable future.

Pain, his source of power, coursed through his veins with incredible force. "....oh... god...."

Could he teleport from here? Could he even think well enough to do that? Oh god, what was oozing near his ear... was that blood, or was that rotten fish!?

The connection reverberated through her fist and up her arm with a deep feeling of satisfaction.

There was beauty in perfect physical motion, and for a fleeting moment, she felt that. It was almost sad for him, because he never really tried to dodge, but she couldn't argue with the benefit it gave her.

The force of it sent him flying backwards, his body crumpling like a doll's until the scrape of his boots left the roof and he plummeted down into the darkness. Tanais, all her momentum in that swing, followed more slowly and was in time to hear the bang as he landed in, of all things, a dumpster left out down below. She paused at the lip, sinking down into a crouch to study the swath of red laid out across the refuse of the city.

Where you belong, I think. How suitably ironic.

In an easy motion, she stepped off the building and dropped, taking the fall as though she'd simply stepped off the curb. Her knees flexed when she landed in a clang of armor, her cape settled behind her even as she rose and made an unhurried approach to her downed prey. If she'd had pockets, she'd have stuck her hands in them, all but strolling down the empty alley.

"Are you still alive in there?" She called, a jovial note to her voice. "Or did I crush too much of that pretty face?"

He had to be alive... it was unlikely even one good punch could take a man out completely. Injured though... yes. As she had intended. She couldn't see him over the lip of the dumpster and it forced her to get close, choosing to make a little jump up onto it to land with a heavy thump and rattle as she balanced on the edge. He looked even worse up close. Blood streaking his chin, garbage sticking to his clothes. The smell made her nose wrinkle, but there was no way she was letting it chase her off from just a little bit of gloating.

"Have you had enough, Mouse?" The Knight purred.

Fin on my end? He… really needed that punch, whether he thinks so or not!

Pain was pulsing through every fiber of his being, laced with the copper-tinged taste of blood and the putrid aroma of rotting garbage. Carnelian’s vision swam in waves of excruciating agony mixed with nausea.

Tanais’ signature was like that of a blinding light, and even without emitting one, her presence caused him to cringe and squint, trying to shield his face with his arms and coat. She was mocking him in this sorry state, though the corrupted senshi could only make out some of her words in between the sledgehammer swings to his head. She was likely here to finish the job, and that golden lion would haunt his dreams for weeks to come. Carnelian couldn’t let her end it here, not without slinking away as quickly as the power of Chaos would allow.

“...yes…” came a croak, the corrupted attempting to shift himself in the heaps of rotten garbage to keep away from her arm’s reach. Tanais could easily grab him by the ankle and toss him about like a ragdoll. “...plenty… plenty…” Spitting out the phlegm and blood pooling in his mouth, Carnelian’s breathing was as haggard as his appearance. He’d never been so descecrated so easily, such was Tanais’ overwhelming physical strength and prowess. He was foolish not to simply run when he’d first spotted her.

Was his jaw broken? His cheek might have been shattered. Everything ground together like sandpaper when he moved his mouth…

He didn’t know her name, nor did he need to. Her blistering power and golden lion attire was more than enough of a calling card. He could either fight and die, or teleport away and limp to the nearest source of medical treatment he could find. Never one to consider himself brave, or a subscriber to first on the battlefield, last to leave, the corrupted senshi summoned up what strength he had left to dissipate into the depths of Negaspace in a bloody heap of mangled face and broken confidence, all perfumed by the smell of dumpster.

What a day to be alive.
