Quote: This time of year, snow is common. What’s uncommon is the single, strange snowfall that glistened like tiny diamonds. Everything about the snow seemed normal—it’s cold, wet, and melts just like any other snow, it just also happens to look like tiny little gems are falling from the sky. Depending on who you’re with, it’s either incredibly strange, or incredibly romantic.
He was being a ******** idiot and he knew it.
Picking Cass up from work wasn't, inheriantly, a bad thing. Her job at Renegade Media wasn't difficult to get to from the house, though he'd taken Melinda's car to do so. The 2012 Subaru Legacy had heated seats, for one. That and traffic versus public transport and the n** in the air from snow? It was a hell of a debate before he'd left, weighing how he felt like dealing with shitty traffic due to the weather on top of the holiday shoppers rushing around.
Heated seats won out.
The fact that as he leaned against the driver's door of the idling black car, and a gold and green bag with green tissue paper sticking out the top sat innocently in the passenger side seat, had nothing to do with things. Nor the fact that he felt slightly more in control of the situation without a ******** of random people wandering by or pressed around them. Nothing to color his opinion of the choices at all.
He let out a long breath as he checked his phone to make sure she did want to meet him outside rather than him go in, the minature puffs fading into the snow that danced through the air currents that flowed through the streets.
Already he'd told her he'd be taking her out to dinner after she got out. It was part of why he wore a suit jacket beneath the longer leather one more suitable for the weather. Made the dark green button up and pitch, crisp jeans look nicer than they really were when matched with the damn jacket and the nice shoes. ********. When did he even start getting this sort of stuff in his wardrobe? He worked as a freaking clerk at a hardware store. Had had the job for a while, few years at that point, but... it wasn't necessarily just that money going into his purchases. ********. There were a lot of changes going on when he really stopped to look at it, weren't there?

Working for Levi was a piece of cake.
Sure, working for Renegade Media meant that she was stuck in an office, but it was an office that paid well and she had a good rapport with her boss. Now, her boss's girlfriend didn't seem to care much for her, of which Cass couldn't blame her, but all in all life as a secretary was a piece of cake.
Plus, it was surprisingly flexible when she needed it to be even if it called for long hours from time to time.
Tonight was one of those days, where Cass had stayed later than usual but it was fine because one of her boys was coming to pick her up. In fact it was one of her favorite boys; tall, dark, and handsome Jericho Cross. By the time she'd come out of the building, he had to have been waiting for few minutes.
Her sweater dress barely skirted the tops of of her thighs and there was a black infinity scarf wrapped around her throat with her green hair piled up in a cute messy bun. Lips were painted a darker green and curved upward at the sight of the boy waiting for her.
Without hesitation she came to stand before him, reaching for his neck to kiss him. "Hey Jer, I've been missing you handsome."

The cliché was to say that someone could make a potato sack look good. Hell, he’d told Cass before she could make anything hot. Not that the sweater dress was something he’d liken to a potato sack, far from it, but he still gave a low whistle as she came near. A corner of his mouth curved upward a bit as she drew up to him, allowing himself to be pulled down to press his lips to hers. He was trying to do better, be there more, see her more. Even if it was nothing more than grabbing a coffee or a patrol, or something. A large part of his thinking for the night was part of that. "Plan on making it up to you for my absence," he chuckled, before his brow furrowed a bit as he lifted his head enough to gaze back down at her attire. Lovely to look at, nice to touch, but… considering the snow falling around them?
"How the ******** aren’t you freezing in this?" Not that he minded a reason to open up his coat and wrap it somewhat around her, his hands rubbing at her back and shoulders. Around them, the snow began to pick up a bit, and he shook his head to disrupt the building layer on his hair. "Heated seat’s on already for you," he said simply, not speaking of the bag also on the same seat. Looking down at her though, he began to notice how some of the snowflakes seemed to glimmer, twinkle almost. Lifting a hand from her back, he scowled as he tried to let some of them accumulate in his palm. "The hell’s up with the snow?"
Since when was anything ever ok in this city, though? Did he need to worry about them getting poisoned from something in the snow now?

Cass was always delighted to kiss Jericho, fingers toying with the hair at the nape of his neck as she enjoyed the feeling of his lips against hers. "Mm, you better," she purred, sinking back down onto her heels. Teeth grazed her lip ring when she looked up at him, reluctantly pulling back. "I need more quality time with my Jer."
And he had been making more of an effort after their little talk around Halloween. There were small steps but steps none-the-less and she was pleased about it.
"Wasn't so bad in the office," she mumbled, allowing him to wrap around her. Fingers toyed with the front of his shirt as his hands ran over her body. "Besides," she looked up devilishly, tongue sliding along her lip, "I can think of a few ways for you to warm me up." Most of them involved various states of undress, but that was besides the point.
"Heated seats hm, you're really springing for this aren't you?" But Cass sounded happy about all of it.
Jericho's question had her lifting her head, automatically moving to catch one of the snowflakes when she noticed the way they glistened and glittered above. "It's like the sky's full of diamonds," she commented, turning back to him and stretching for one more kiss. "Perfect, romantic, kissing scene," she laughed before claiming his mouth.

Jericho scowled down at her, flicking his gaze from the slowly melting crystalline snow to her bright face. She could find reasons to enjoy nearly any situation it seemed. He wouldn't deny the sort of envy about that. Her vivacious brilliance was what drew him in from the start, curious about that twisting, sparking, dancing flame. Fire to ice, burning to numb. Set something alight with him, and he knew he was growing more addicted to it. To her.
"The city could be engulfed in flame and you'd likely say it's a romantic kissing scene," he grunted. But he didn't pull back or fight her when she stretched up again. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he told himself he needed to learn to say no. That word could be a bomb waiting to go off, a fight about to start, with Cass.
How could he say no though, when his hands dipped lower to grip her harder, when he nipped at the lip ring she liked to toy and tease with, and when even with the chill in the air he felt a wave of heat just under his skin?
The sky full of diamonds was going to soak them to the bone though. Like regular snow, the glittering snowflakes melted upon contact, and he pulled back from the heat of her to roll his shoulders against a shiver in the cold. "Come on, still have dinner before we can really warm up. This isn't how I'd picture you with the phrase dripping in diamonds." He accented his words by brushing some of the melting snowflakes from her head. "...not a bad look before they melt though." He could relent on that, at least.
Even if he wasn't convinced it wasn't another doomsday sign in this ******** up city.

Jericho could scowl at her all he wanted and she'd just look up at the tall man with amusement. If the situation had been a serious one, then she would have treated it slightly different when it came down to it. "That," she purred with a grin, a little noise escaping her from the way his teeth tugged at her lip ring, "would depend on where we stood when the city was aflame."
She wasn't opposed to a victor kiss (or more) if they were standing on the side of victory in that case.
He pulled away and she shivered in the wake of his missing body heat, low whine leaving her lips as she pouted at him. "Okay, okay," she replied, complete with an exaggerated sigh. Vibrant green eyes flicked back up at the glistening, diamond like snowflakes to watch them as they sprinkled over the couple, and his borrowed car.
"You're right, sex in the snow in front of the building I work in probably isn't a good idea." Cass couldn't help but tease him again, reluctantly pulling away so that she could get in the car. "I'm not ruling out snow sex as a whole, just so you know."
