While she wasn't a guard or anything of the sorts she still liked to go near the boarders. There was almost always something to see or do near there and she was just nosey really. Plus she needed new material for her stories. She had to get the inspiration from somewhere right? While she was creative, she wasn't that creative.
Sorta a poor job choice but it let her near cubs and she had quite a fondness for cubs. She was hoping for some of her own one day, but she wasn't sure it would be anytime soon. Then again their mother had them when she was quite young so who knew really. Padding along one of the spots she had heard rogues passed by frequently she waited.
Hali was in unfamiliar territory. She knew she was close to the water, the smell of salt was heavy in the air. It reminded her of home. She wondered if this land was as prosperous as the mermaids had been before the pride fell? The dark lioness felt the ground beneath her paws growing softer. The loose sand was beginning to stick in between her paws. She did not miss that feeling. When the ocean sand became wet, it stuck even more to her skin, leaving the gritty feeling behind.
The dark lioness wandered more. As the ground grew softer, the air grew saltier. Being away from her homelands for so long made the scent almost to overpowering for her. She sneezed, clearing her nostrils.
Bright blue eyes scanned the area. Did anyone live here? Surely a pride would establish itself. The Pirates and Mermaids could not be the only sea loving felines around.
Walking along she twisted her ears as she heard the sound of things moving not too far away. Blinking she looked around curiously and didn't see anyone at first but finally the lioness came into view and she didn't recognize her. She must either be new or just passing through.
"Morning." She called out as she approached the female. She was aware that her size was somewhat intimdating to others so she hoped that didn't deter her too much. "I'm Azariel, what is your name?" She introduced herself to perhaps help ease that a little bit if she was nervous about her largeness in anyway.
"What brings you out this way?"
The voice caught her attention. Hali found herself gazing at the other lioness.
"Good morning," she greeted kindly, noting the sheer size of the lioness alone. The mermaids were lithe creatures. Hali was petite, to say the less, even though the blood of a stocky warlord ran through her. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Azariel. My name is Hali." The size did not intimidate her. What she lacked in stature, she made up with speed.
"I am just passing through. My pride was on the sea, and the saltiness of the air brought me closer. "Although she was near the ocean again, she found the terrain just not what she was looking for. Still, seeing the sites was something Hali could cross off her list of what she had seen in her life.
The female was much smaller than her she realized as she grew closer but didn't seemed diswauaded by her size.
This was going great already. "Welcome ot the Bahri'mtoto Hali." She welcomed the female onto the prides lands. Since she was just passing through she figured there wasn't really too much for her to ask about why she was there. "Would you like to see it? We're not far from the water if you'd like." She offered to her wondering if that was something she'd like to do.
She was saying her pride was, so that meant it wasn't anymore. She figured it would be a nice thing to show her. "If you don't want to that's alright as well. Perhaps I can assist you in some way since you are probably going somewhere."
Bahari’mtoto? She had not heard of that land before. So far on her travels, Hali was becoming quite aware she did not know the outside world. From her old pride, to the Maestros Del Mar, to the Stormborn. What other prides were out there?
“It’s…been quite a while since I’ve seen water. I’d love too.” If there was something from her pride she missed, it was the water. She missed going for swims any time of the day, catching fish and the sea birds for afternoon snacks.
“Have you been here all your life?” She inquired, following the female to the water. When she saw the sea, she had to stop herself from running into it.
She shook her head at the question. “I don’t have any place really I am heading. Just…exploring until I find the right home.” As much as she loved the water, she likely would not stay in this land. The ocean, while a big part of her life, days of her life were over. She was curious to find out what lie ahead.
"This will be a nice treat for you then." She said with a warm smile back towards the female as they walked along. While she lived near it, it never got old for her, there was always something new to see, to experience with the oceans waves.
"I joined the pride with my mother and siblings, so I knew a fraction of a life outside of it's borders." She only remembered a little bit of the experiences she had, but it wasn't a bad thing. "I'm sure you'll find a place that calls to your heart one day." She could only imagine how the female felt about not having a set place, though some had a travelers heart.
She could hear it growing louder in her ears and she gave a smile as they broke through the dense foliage. "Here we are." She waved a paw out before them as if to display it.
It definitely would be a treat, to see the water she loved so much as a child. She could stay here, if offered, but maybe it was time for a change in her lifestyle. As much as the water called to her, she knew there was something else out there that was tugging her to go.
If anything, she would just need to visit this land once fully established in a pride.
Upon arriving at the ocean, teal colored eyes widened. The waves were slowly crashing against the shore, leaving the darkening sand in its retreat. She was sure she saw a little crab or two scuttling across the wet sand, running back to the water it had once come from. Barely able to contain her excitement, Hali turned to glance at the other. "May I?" The lioness wanted to make sure she could actually go into the water, before she actually raced to it.
"Oh yes, please go ahead." She waved her paw towards the water giving her open invitation to get closer or even go in it. There were plenty of shallow spots she could easily go into. She couldn't help but admire the look of adoration upon her face and she wondered if someone would look at her the way she was looking at the water right now.
A girl could dream right? "It's fairly safe here." In case she thought it wasn't for any reason.
Hali was excited as she moved to dip her paw into the waves. The salty sea felt good against her chapping paw pads. She missed being able to soak in the water at her leisure. The dark lioness could not help but release a giggle as a particular wave crashed against her leg, splashing her face. "The water is so calming..." She would stay if she thought this would be her home. Sadly, the land just did not speak to her like the Mermaid terrain had. She'd leave soon, so not to get attached to the water she loved so much.
"It seems like it." Hali commented. "I am sure it's a great place to stay and live." Raise a family, her mind thought afterwards.
I...probably shouldn't stay much longer." The female stated to the other. "It'll just make it that much hard to leave." A small smile caressed her maw. "Thank you for showing me around here. It seems similar to my own home, yet...yet different."
She followed her down to the water and watched as she seemed to fill a void within her. "It truly is." She said with smile as she stood on some rocks nearby. "Oh you're more than welcome to stay for a few days if you wish since you have to get going soon. But you're welcome any time." She was certain the female would enjoy being near the water for a little while longer.
