This time of year, snow is common. What’s uncommon is the single, strange snowfall that glistened like tiny diamonds. Everything about the snow seemed normal—it’s cold, wet, and melts just like any other snow, it just also happens to look like tiny little gems are falling from the sky. Depending on who you’re with, it’s either incredibly strange, or incredibly romantic.
For what was certainly not the first time (or likely the last), Piper cursed her parents for dragging her from warm, sunny Australia to this frozen hell pit. Even more did she curse the photographer who’d thought a half naked romp through the snow would make for some amazing pictures. Which, okay. To be fair, they did. But Piper did not enjoy freezing her tits off. No matter how pretty the snow was.
Even as she yanked an oversized sweater on, more snow had begun to fall, bits of the stuff clinging to her wooly jumper and to her hair. Grimacing, she glanced up to watch and felt her jaw sag. All around, the snowfall was… beautiful. And while she knew that she wasn’t exactly experienced with the beastly stuff, she did know that it normally didn’t look like tiny, perfect gems falling gently from the sky. Holding up a hand hesitantly, Piper gave a tiny sigh of relief as the snow felt cold and wet, melting normally against her warm skin. She didn’t feel odd, so she doubted this was a chemical attack. Besides, who’d ever heard of one of those looking like a shower of tiny diamonds?
That meant she could enjoy this.
Mind straying to Dasha, Piper wondered if her girlfriend was where she could see this. If not, Piper would be a terrible girlfriend if she didn’t take some sort of record of this to show the other girl. Rummaging through her things and ignoring the exclamations of the little photography unit around her, Piper found her phone and raced for a proper, quiet vantage point. This was an unlooked for opportunity to do something sweet just for Dasha. Once she found a spot to record, Piper thumbed her phone on and opened up the camera. Her mobile face broke into a wide grin as the strange snowfall showed up wonderfully, sparkling and shining against the backdrop of dark trees. A few ‘gems’ even fell quite close to the lense, allowing Piper to see every exquisite little detail. Which meant, in turn, that Dasha would see. And Dasha was going to be delighted.
But as lovely as the whole thing was with the silence, Piper wanted to make this special for her girlfriend. If they couldn’t be watching this snowfall together right now, she was at least going to make her presence felt. She thought quickly, finally settling on some insipid little poppy Christmas song she’d heard that morning. Normally, Piper had little to no use for anything Mariah Carey, but the silly bint’s All I Want for Christmas fit the bill. But not at normal speed. Besides, Piper’s chances of hitting those high notes and not causing ears to bleed was low.
Instead, she sang softly and slowly, making sure to catch every moment she could of the gemfall. She even filmed her hand reaching out to catch some of the snow, letting it sit there for a breath, sparkling in what was left of the sunlight. Only then did she finish singing and stop recording.
Playing it back for herself, she smiled as her voice warbled creakily. A singer she wasn’t, but she thought Dasha would like her go at it. And since she was pleased with her effort, Piper quickly moved to send the little video to her girlfriend.
Wish we could have shared this, love. Thinking of you.
Still delighted with herself and the odd snow, Piper stood a moment longer, watching the stuff gently fall.

Had to do it! The prompt was too potentially cute to not do~
