Kieran 1
The lines were decently good and the depth of the shading was artful enough to make it look like the snaptrotter was coming from the page and towards him. Truly not bad. Kieran frowned thoughtfully as he studied the sketch in his hands, “So you’re telling me that the boy frequents here a lot?” The Yaeli glanced up towards the Matori who was studying him from his merchant’s stall.
“Ah, yes. He’s a fine lad, usually a bit goofy but a hard worker. He likes to draw in his free time so I’m assuming he lost that piece while he was on the beach a few days ago.”
“Please, do you mind telling me where he is?”
The merchant paused and glanced towards the Yaeli as if scrutinizing him for his intentions, “Ya wanna return it and I can just give it back if that’s all.”
Kieran smiled, “Actually if he’s willing I may have a job offer for him.” He had decided since leaving his home that he would go about to Belrea and collect all the information possible for his journals. To speed up such a process though it would be ideal to have an artist accompany him on the journey - something that very few Yaeli and even less Yaeli artists would be willing to do. And as fate would have it it seemed this piece of parchment had shown him the way to an artist who could do the sketches for his journals. He just hoped that this boy was willing to come along.

Kaimana 1
Ever since needing to find work Kaimana had found himself super busy. He went from one stall to the next providing services and even bartering for goods to take home and resell to those in the hidden village. So far he had made a decent amount of coin but he knew it was nowhere near enough. He was just thankful that his grandmother had managed to keep things together for now. The last spell had been a few days ago and she had already gotten back into doing business by preparing herbal orders and medicines.
Why don't’ you just go to Belrea yourself? Kaimana snorted at the thought. Even if that assured him that he could get the medicine needed it wasn’t that easy to sign up for one of those airships. Plus he would have to pay for travel and the like so was it really worth?
“Kaimana!” The boy blinked as he realized that someone was calling for him and he turned to face one of the merchants, “Over here!”

“So that’s the boy…” The Yaeli watched as one of the Matori in the crowd came towards them. He seemed a bit rough around the edges, not a proper artist as Kieran had seen in Pajore, but still there was something about the boy’s smile that seemingly made the Yaeli want to trust him. Though I may have to get him to invest in a shirt and some pants that aren’t so...ragged. He shook his head with faint amusement before raising a hand to wave at this ‘Kaimana’.

“What’s up, Hoye?” Kaimana blinked as he noticed the Yaeli standing next to the merchant, “Oh! Wow. I’ve never really gotten to see a Yaeli up close before...oh sorry.” He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, “That was probably a bit rude, right?” The boy shook his head, “Anyways did you need me for something, Hoye?”His gaze couldn’t resist drifting over the purple haired stranger. Shame that the guy didn’t have the glow that others spoke of when it came to the Yaeli - probably just some made up rumors to hype up their strangeness. He commented silently to himself as he twisted in place while waiting to see what was going on.

A small smile of amusement curved Kieran’s lips upwards, “No offense taken since I realize my appearance must be something different. Though I can’t blame you considering my first visit to the mainland had me startled with how the Matori appear.” He took a step forward to study the boy more, “Actually it’s not Hoye who wanted your attention, Kaimana.”
Kieran held out the sketch as he spoke, “I found this and wished to return it to you and also wanted to request a favor if you don’t mind.”

Oh his sketch! Kaimana’s gaze widened as he reached forward to claim his sketch of the snaptrotter, “I didn’t even realize I had lost it. Thank you, mister.” At the mention of a favor he tilted his head and gestured for the Yaeli to follow him away from the stall a bit so that no one could overhear or bother them, “What type of favor are you wanting?” He found himself asking though his heart was in his chest. Could this be a way to gain some extra coin? Maybe the man just wanted to buy his sketch to show off to others in Yael? Though honestly the guy could have simply stolen such a thing considering Kaimana hadn’t even realized it was missing in the first place. Perhaps the guy was just too good to be a thief? Strange though.
Oh well he would see when the guy asked him about this favor.

“You’re most welcome.” As he followed Kaimana to a more secluded area of the market Kieran glanced around thoughtfully. How did one request such a job to a stranger? Even if it was already hard to trust others he knew that coming from Yael already gave him a bit of a negative stance. I suppose it could be worse - I could be an extremist. A bad joke, but still it was true. At least some years had passed so that others were more familiar with the existence of the Yaeli and now there were even more strangers coming over from this Belrea continent. The world was quickly expanding indeed.
“First I should introduce myself.” He held out a hand, “My name is Kieran and I would be more interested in hiring you for your services.”

Tilting his head in confusion as the man seemingly paused for the longest moment Kaimana simply waited, “Ah.” As the Yaeli finally introduced himself the boy raised a hand to clasp the other’s hand in greeting, “Nice to meet ya, Kieran.” He chuckled before raising a brow, “What services are you wanting to hire me for? I’m not that easy of a man you know.”

Kieran found his own brow raising at the teasing, “Excuse me?” He repeated with a blink, “I’m not...oh no.” He quickly shook his head, “It’s the sketch. That’s what I’m interested in.” The Yaeli shook his head once more, “Even if you’re teasing that’s just...strange.” He was a married man as it was and would never! Perhaps this boy wasn’t the best companion...but then again that warmth in his gaze and the way those sketches seemingly could come to life on the page enticed Kieran. He wanted this boy to be his artist.

Laughing, Kaimana held out his hands in confession, “I’m sorry it was a bad joke. I’m just not certain what services you would want from me. You say my sketches but do you want me to sell you some of my images or is there something else that is involved?” He peered towards the Yaeli, “And I may have a steep price for my work if that’s acceptable as well, Kieran.”
This was it a chance to make even more coin for the medicine funding! He had to play it cool and try to wedge up the price if possible, but it was so hard not to throw himself at the man.

“Ah, I see.” Kieran rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, “I apologise then since I’m not accustomed to requesting others to work with me.” He glanced around and gestured towards the tavern, “Perhaps we should sit down and have a meal first? I can explain as we eat. Sound good? And don’t worry I’ll buy the meal.”

“Free food? How could I protest?” The boy grinned, “Come this way and explain yourself to me, Kieran.” As they walked towards the tavern and were seated by a waitress who lingered a bit longer than necessary to study the Yaeli he could only shake his head in amusement. Who knew being a Yaeli could gain so much attention from everyone? Perhaps if he traveled then he could also gain attention? Though surely not all of it was with good intentions. The thought made Kaimana frown before he gazed back towards Kieran, “I’ll take some skewered fish and bread please. The fried squid is also very good.”

Kieran shifted in his seat as he adjusted to the new setting. It was rare for him to go to a tavern like this with himself fully revealed and with another person. Yet he felt bold today and so the Yaeli kept his cloak down so that he could focus on Kaimana, “Ah, all that sounds good so we’ll have it all.” He replied before taking a swig of ale that had been given to him, “As it is we need to discuss business while the food is being prepared.”

“Sounds good to me, thank you.” Kaimana grinned as he studied the Yaeli, “So when you say you wish to hire me for my sketches, Kieran, what do you really mean? Is it a one time job? Do you want a picture of the beach of the people? A portrait of yourself to send to a lover?” He threw the questions to the man teasingly before settling back in his seat, “As it is I’m curious about what you want from me and why one sketch caught your attention as it did.”

The Yaeli shook his head at all the questions, “Slow down and let me fully explain myself to you first.” He smiled and tore at a piece of bread as it was lowered to their table, “I’m a traveller who gathers knowledge.” He stuffed some bread in his mouth and then pulled out a journal from his bag, “Here is one of my journals in which I record information - mainly about new places and the creatures and plants that are naturally there.” His fingers tapped at the binding, “This one is particularly for Matori so feel free to flick through it.”
“As it is my travels are taking a lot of time but I have a family who I would like to visit often so I realized to assist in my travels it would be nice to have an artist. You see that I have done a few sketches but I’m a slow artists and they take time to draw along with the writing...it’s a bit overwhelming as of late.”
