Backstory:
Bearnas is an experimental Zurg Hybrid, cloned and grown before the Zurg War using mostly genetic material donated by Flarn.
These clones were intended to be mass-produced, unfailingly loyal and strong soldiers in the Zurg Legion. However, due to the low success ratio of the cloning process and the high cost in resources, the project was eventually abandoned and the mind control helmets were developed instead.

Layout by Dragonus!
Bearnas served as a Lieutenant under his batch-buddy, Dragonus.
When the Zurg War ended in Flarn's capture, the Legion's remnants were left behind. Some were arrested, others were presumed dead and went into hiding.
Bearnas spent weeks laying low in an abandoned Legion base just outside Durem with a handful of others, before taking on a last name and attempting to integrate into Gaian society.
He had no luck getting hired for any sort of jobs, so he lost the expensive Durem apartment where he was stationed near the end of the war.
Until he was finally hired by The Committee, he spent months free-loading at Dragonus' flat in Aekea.
Now he has officially moved into his own apartment right next to his former Lieutenant Commander.
Although he is starting to get used to a calm, Gaian existance, he still misses the Commander and the ship he called home for most of his life.
Everyday still, he daydreams of ways to go back 'home'.
Personality:
Quiet, serious, cold, harsh, disconnected
Bearnas was generally quiet and serious, even cold-hearted outside and during battle. Taking lives had never been a problem for him, as that was what he was made for. He did what he was made for, and he was good at it.
He wasn't discontented with his position as a mere lieutenant per se, but he would often question Dragonus' orders, and find loopholes and excuses to follow his own orders or bypass the hierarchy to get his way. His loyalty was always with the legion and the commander, but his obedience towards his superior officer was lacking.
He'd wear a stern, icy expression at all times, with his medical duties being the only time where he'd show any emotion.
Nothing would give him quite the satisfaction that he'd get from working with bodies - whether they were alive, or (soon to be) dead. His interest in medicine and surgical procedures bordered on obsession, and more often than not his patients would try their luck surviving on the battlefield with their wounds rather than see him for help.
Even though he's actually a fairly skilled healer, with no bedside manner or medical ethics to speak of he wasn't able to find a job as one after the war. He was just plain scary when holding a surgical knife.
Fatherly, dorky, kind
Bearnas isn't evil, though. Spending time on Gaia among such a diverse group of people made him develop interests other than medicine and war, and brought out personality traits that didn't have much room for development as a soldier. He developed interests in music, baking, and even fashion to an extent. The legion disbanded, his superior became his only family, and with this new inexplicable need to protect the only family he had left came new emotions, such as brotherly love for his smaller batch-buddy. His obsession with the technical aspect of healing made way for compassion, kindness and empathy.
Although he appears to be much kinder and expressive than his pre-war state, he still slips back into old habits and mindsets from time to time, and he can still be a little scary around medical instruments.
