Quote: Your Christmas cookies turned out great for once! There was no burning or dropping of the batter and now you have dozens of cookies just waiting to be eaten or given out as gifts. However, as you leave the cookies to cool and go about your business, the smell of gingerbread seems to follow you, no matter if you made gingerbread cookies or not. A strange feeling as though someone is watching you takes over and from time to time you swear that you can hear a strange little voice saying the same thing over and over. “You can’t catch me”. The feeling passes after a few hours, but it might be best to avoid gingerbread for the rest of the holiday season…just in case. Cynthia hummed around the kitchen for a bit, making sure everything was ready for when she and her classmate, Michiko, started to make the cookies. It had been a spur-of-the-moment thing, and Cynthia had decided to invite a person or two to come to her house and make some cookies together and perhaps watch a movie afterwards. Her parents were currently out right now doing Christmas shopping, and her older brothers were hanging out with friends currently, so she was all by herself. Only one person had said they would come, and it was Michiko, a girl she didn't know too well, but that just meant that they could learn a bit more about each other while they were baking! She was still cleaning the kitchen a bit, but overall it was clean, with the island in the middle ready for whatever they needed to spread on it, and plenty of pre-done dough, flour, butter, eggs, sugar, and whatever else they needed to make any cookies that they wanted! Though her family had made Cynthia promise that she would save them a batch for allowing her to use the kitchen by herself. She promised she would, mostly because she was sure that she and Michiko couldn't eat all of it themselves. She looked at the clock and realized that Michiko should be arriving any moment, and she would need to be ready for when the doorbell rang!

Michiko left her house and headed over to Cynthia's house, she was nervous but she didn't want to be at her house alone. It was so lonely and depressing being home alone around the holidays by herself. Since her parents were still overseas on business. She went to the correct address and knocked on the door. She waited there nervously shifting about. She wanted friends but it was often hard to get started and once she did she often found it hard to find the right words to say. Cooking though was her thing so that was a comfort to the situation. She rang the doorbell and then waited patiently. She was really looking forward to making cookies with a friend from school even if she was a little nervous.

Cynthia heard the doorbell ring, and rushed over to open it. When she did, she saw Michiko looking cold! "Michiko! Come on in! Everything should be ready but if you want to wait a bit to warm up I have hot chocolate and hot tea that I could make! Also I have some recipes for gingerbread cookies if you want to try making some of those too!" She had gotten them off the internet, she hoped they would be okay once they tried them. Cynthia tried to encourage Michiko to feel relaxed in her house. She knew how nerve-wracking it could be going over to someone else's house for the first time, so she wanted Michiko to feel like she was a part of the family! Or at least she hoped that they could end on friendly terms after this! Midnightglow18 I am so sorry for taking so long to respond to this!

Michiko smiled softly at Cynthia she was a little nervous this was her first time over at her classmates' house. She nodded as she went in and said "Thank you, hot cocoa would be lovely." very voice was a soft tone. She was looking forward to making gingerbread cookies with Cynthia since cooking and baking were her favorite things to do. "Thank you for inviting me over.. I like cooking a lot." (No problem we pretty much finished lights out and finished the caroling one I think we are on track XD )

Cynthia quickly took Michiko's coat and hung it up, and made sure that the other was nice and comfy, before preparing a mug of hot cocoa for the other. Afterwards, they spent quite a few hours making various types of cookies and other treats, Cynthia learning a lot more than she thought she would about making baked treats, making sure to write down the recipes and steps so that she could do them on her own later, though probably not as well as Michiko. Nonetheless, she had a good time, and hoped that Michiko had fun too. Soon though, they were all done, and Cynthia moved them to the living room, so they could talk or watch a movie or whatever they wanted to do. But she sniffed and realized that the gingerbread smell seemed to be following them. It wasn't that unusual because they did make some, but for it to be the only smell? And she knew they had some scented candles out right now, it was just... weird. She laughed a bit. "That gingerbread smell is just everywhere!"

Michiko nodded her thanks to Cynthia for taking her coat and giving her hot cocoa she was a really nice host and that helped to put her at ease. In an otherwise frightening and stressful situation. She didn't talk all that much but she did talk a little and more when they started talking about food and baking. She was had so much fun baking with Cynthia. Her level of fun was a very quiet type but she hoped that Cynthia knew anyway. She blinked when they still smelled the gingerbread in the living room after they finished cooking. That was strange, normal the smell went away pretty fast. "That's weird." She said with a frown. "Maybe we could go to your backyard for some fresh air?" She suggested.

Cynthia didn't really mind Michiko being so quiet. Sometimes when people got to talking, it was too distracting and any number of things could have gone wrong, such as putting in the wrong amount of ingredients or ignoring the timer and burning something to a crisp. She nodded at Michiko. "All right I'll grab your coat!" She said, going to the front hall closet and retrieving them, and giving Michiko hers. After they were ready to go back outside into the cold, Cynthia led them to the back door and opened it, leading to the wide back yard that she had, with a bit of decoration courtesy of one of her older brothers. Though she was cold now, she hoped that the smell would go away. It seemed to be just as fresh as it was before though. "This is so weird. My nose is freezing and not able to smell anything but that gingerbread smell!" She said, making a face.

Michiko preferred being quiet in her everyday life it helped to not make a mistake while cooking which was good and resulted in a lot of wonderful baked good getting distracted cooking didn't normally turn out too well. She nodded back and grabbed her coat so she could go outside with Cynthia away from the scent of gingerbread that strangely lingered in the air. Michi frowned and then said, "That shouldn't be possible, this isn't how cooking smells work." She was weirded out and annoyed if there was something she knew it was gardening and cooking. This threw cooking out the window, the scent of gingerbread should have chased them outside after they finished. "Want to come to my house maybe we can escape it that way?" She suggested in a soft tone. At this rate she never wanted to make gingerbread again this was getting creepy and reminded her of the Halloween doll that wouldn't go away. Destiny city was such a weird place sometimes but what could one do?

Cynthia was surprised by the invitation, but was glad to take it. "Sure! Let me just write a note and get some stuff and hopefully this smell won't follow us!" She said, before going back inside, making sure Michiko had followed, and Cynthia gathered her things and wrote a note to her family and then followed Michiko back to her house, hoping that the smell of gingerbread wouldn't follow them for the rest of their lives. No more gingerbread for her! Midnightglow18 Ending post for me! Thanks so much!
