At long last, your Holiday shopping is complete! Every last person is checked off the list, and you have time to spare. Maybe you deserve something a little extra special, too? Or is there someone you suddenly remembered? Are you just imagining that you’re done? What if you actually haven’t gotten everything finished? This time of year is always so stressful—how are you handling shopping at all?
Madge dropped her shopping bags in the trunk of her little sedan. Finally she was finished Christmas shopping. She had gotten something for everyone on her list and she had even finished ahead of schedule! Maybe she had time to stop by her favorite coffee shop for her guilty pleasure. The drink had too much caffeine and way too much sugar, but as a once in a while treat it was perfect.
Which meant it would be the perfect end to her far too long day of shopping. She shut her trunk on her purchases and climbed into her car to head toward the coffee shop. But first, before she left the mall parking lot, she would double check her list. She was not going to leave this place without making sure she had gotten everything.
Tossing her purse onto the seat beside her, she dug around in it until she found the list she had made of people to get gifts for. Right. A new bell for Mom's collection, the latest book from her dad's favorite author for him, check and check. Gifts for her friends, her teachers. Wait. Did she get that mini snow globe she had been looking at for her favorite teacher? Or was her mind playing tricks on her?
"Damn it," she sighed and got back out of her car to dig through her bags. Finally she found the little box with a shiny red bow on top. She had paid a little extra to have the globe gift wrapped because she knew that s**t happened and she didn't want it to get broken before she was able to give it to him.
"Good, that's done." She crossed her teacher off her list and stayed there at her trunk to finish making sure she had gotten everything. "I am not crazy," she muttered to herself. Nope. Not crazy at all. She was just a girl who also happened to be a super hero. Or was she a super villain? Who knew? Raven and Jett were guiding her as a Dark Mirror Senshi, but there was still a lot she had to learn.
Anyway. She was going to go get her drink and go home and not think about what gifts she might be missing until tomorrow. With that in mind, Madge shut her trunk and got back in her car to head to the closest Starbucks.
Later that night, Madge sat straight up out of a dead sleep. Her heart was racing as she tore out of bed and rummaged around her room.
"Please, please tell me that was just a nightmare. I did get all my Christmas shopping done, I swear I did!" she muttered to herself as she tried to remember what she did with all the bags. When she couldn't find them in her room she began to panic. "No, no, no, please, no..."
Grabbing her keys, Madge stumbled down the stairs and grabbed her coat to go outside and look in her trunk. "Oh, thank God," she breathed. She forgot she had left them in her trunk. Now she could go back to sleep without any more nightmares. She hoped.
