Quote: Caroling has been a tradition for years, so it’s really no surprise when you hear a soft chorus from outside. What is a surprise is the fact that it’s three in the morning, and the moment they start singing you feel a chill in the air. It’s a song you’ve heard a hundred times before, but something about this version makes you go cold. If you move to the window, you will find no carolers, but the song is loud enough that you know you should be able to see them. They sing one song, and then there is silence. An eerie chill lingers, and your dreams are haunted by strange voices. You’ll probably never be able to hear that song again without feeling a chill.
Finding people wandering together, singing carols, was perhaps one of the more interesting aspects of the holiday season to him. If only, in a way, for the new challenge posed in trying to collect energy from those that fell behind in the group.
For Rigel, it was a fun challenge. One he embraced with glee and thrill, forcing him to learn new ways to sneak and stalk and engage with people. Of course, he found he needed to be far more... discrite and hidden due to his uniform's state. The bones were not liable to attract good attention, after all, which amused him to utilize when able to corner off a lost sheep, so to speak.
But when it came to be nearly 3am, he expected, largely, to encounter no such groups. He expected the relative silence of the city, beyond the drunkards or such that wandered the streets at such hours, or the unfortunates who were heading to or coming off the clock.
Such was the confusion as the dark-haired corrupt tilted his head, hearing what he was sure was a group singing lines of O Come, O Come, Emmanual from further down the alley, near a stretch of townhouses. Peculiar, enough that he began to wander in the direction, even as he perked to sense the bright, almost annoyingly so, aura of a White Moon Senshi somewhere in the region.

Nereid was trying to get her before christmas patrolling out of the way so she could move on to doing other things! She had games and raids to work on before the fated day. With snow piling in too, the waterfall senshi was feeling a bit of the n** against her skin.
She could hear carolers out and about as she started her night, and lights brightly reflected off the pretty white of snow. Her perch from high up gave her a good sight and also hid the small space heater and cleared out space while she waited for anything to pop on her radar. She had even found some fun mobile games for the cellphone!
Eventually time sped away and she was gonna call it a night when she heard the eerie sound of carolling at....3am??? It came from an alley close to her and she hopped from her spot. Once she felt the p***k of chaos though, she tilted her head and dropped down the opposite end of the alley from Rigel.
She walked in slowly, looking around.
"Hello???"

Rigel continued to follow the sensation of the aura, will simultaneously trying to follow the odd singing. Something about it just felt... off. Beyond just the odd time--though he might have suspected such behavior from a group of drunks. Still, even on that thought, the words weren't wobbling or slurred as one would expect from the inebriated.
So why be out this late--or early?--to sing carols..?
"Hello," the Corrupt of the Eldrich called as he heard a voice ringing out from the other end of the alley. He squinted a bit, seeing a shape further up, and picked up his pace a little. Already a smile was on his lips, friendly and easy going. Though it faltered slightly as he felt a chill running down his spine from the music. "Seems we're not the only ones out for rounds this early morning."
But... where were they?

As if by fate, the other end was greeted by another senshi, this time, one of the corrupt alignment. She would've been surprised, had it not been for the aura and her reasonable luck of finding mostly the corrupt senshi of the negaverse.
"Ah, that's so freaky!" She moved closer until she was in the middle of the alley and looking towards the corrupt senshi. His mouth wasn't moving beyond his earlier comments and his uniform well...
It was beyond eerie but it didn't scream singing carolers to her. If anything the music went well with his approach and as it hit it's climax, the girl could feel herself getting more and more on edge.
"I think I'm gonna have to ask the obligatory question here...." Nereid breathed in, "Is this your battle music? Like I mean I wouldn't expect it from your attire but...if you're trying to freak me out, it's really working!" She waved her hands, "Also are we gonna do battle for this, because I don't think its gonna stop, if you aren't doing it, till we duke it out maybe?" But that was just her hypothesis and she kind of wanted to do some battling!
Especially to choir music!

Freaky? For a moment, he really wasn't sure if the girl in the waterfall uniform was referring to his attire, or to the unseen carolers. Though as she continued, he was immensely amused to realize it might very well be both.
That it delighted him so much perhaps should have been troubling, but really... why would he complain? He was a senshi with a very odd sphere, after all. Freaking people out was just... part of the territory.
But Rigel began to laugh outright, merry and thrilled, a sound that clashed and melded wickedly with the haunting song of the carolers. "My battle music? Oh, that's a new one!" He continued to laugh as he moved towards her, an idea forming in his head already. He needed to be within a range of six feet, though...
"I'm not the one behind the music. I'm not carrying anything for it. But perhaps you're right. Perhaps a fight is needed to shoo away whatever is behind this. Who are we to object?" His smile grew, bright teeth and eyes shutting briefly. He held out his left hand towards her, and said with an equally chipper voice, "Beyond the Mind."
Immediately upon speaking the words, an inky substance began to form and drip from his hand, spilling out over the alleyway before it began to stretch out towards the White Moon Senshi, reaching for her. It'd been a while since he'd used his magic, and not yet in a full fight... but was this even much of one? Time would tell.
Quote: Holding his hand up towards a target, Rigel speaks the name of the attack and an inky substance forms as it out of his hand, falling to the floor. The substance stretches out towards the target, regardless of whatever obstacles might be on the floor, and latches onto the target's legs, pulling down on them. The target then begins to sink into the inky substance up to mid-calf, with the inky tendrils rising higher to about their hips, as if aiming to pull them lower. Beneath the dark surface, the target can feel things slithering and moving beneath them, and will continue to until the magic ends after 30 seconds. Once the magic is up, the target is back above ground and no trace remains, on them or the ground, of the unearthly material. Rigel can only use this against a target within eye-sight and within a range of six feet, and can only use his magic three times per day. A target can struggle to get free of the material, though difficult for anyone of Rigel's rank.

"Well it's kind of new to me too, so yeah." His laugh made it even MORE creepy because you didn't laugh when you were being called creepy though right?!?! I mean only creepy people did it and that was well.....
He started stepping closer to her, and she was waiting for him to get in her own range when he said something.
"Beyond the mind??" She looked at him confused, almost missing the shadows that trailed on the ground and took ahold of her legs. "OH...BOY." She tried to move but instead started sinking in it, slowly and slowly until she was knee deep and it was groping at her thighs greedily. She tried to push at the tendrils but they avoided her hands.
It was an annoying move and she looked up at him like, "Ah you're a shadow-WHAT THE ********." as soon as she uttered shadow, she could feel things SLITHERING against her legs and her whole body shuddered. "No...No no no no." She tried to pull herself from the mess but the slithering and moving kept happening until the magic wore off and she was standing above ground again. Her hands came down defensively to her legs before coming up and looking at the Corrupt.
"NOPE." She summoned her magic, "Waterfalls Wall*" and as the crazy pounding water came crashing through, "NOT TODAY SATAN SENSHI, NOT TODAY! I AM NOT DEALING WITH THAT!" She added. She wasn't ******** around with no shadow realm s**t. Not uh.
She used the opportunity her magic gave her to make a run for it and she did NOT look back! Kaefaux Waterfalls Wall! Nereid calls the name of her attack, and holds out her arms. A thick circle of 6 feet water appears over her intended target's head and then comes crashing down. It acts as a wall between the target and everyone else, and last for 25 seconds. Anyone in the circle of 6 feet cannot move outside of it until the attack is over, and vice versa, anyone outside the circle cannot force themselves in. She can use this attack twice.

Her response to his magic made him crack up further, and really, his lack of proper attention to the 'fight' made it entirely reasonable then for how badly she caught him off guard.
But really she was hilarious! Could anyone blame him? Though he was aware his magic was far more inconvenient than dangerous, the switch when she reacted to something just... Rigel nearly doubled over, laughing as he was.
And then his magic ended. And he was sent to the floor anyways from water.
Rigel yelped, falling to his knees from his somewhat bent over position, catching himself on his hands and knees, grateful for a moment that his hands were bound in cloth to at least ease on the bite from bits of debris. The torrent cascaded around him, and though he managed to scramble to his feet, Rigel couldn't get out from under the freaking waterfall.
He did hear her words shouting above the roar--Not today Satan Senshi, not today!--and if it weren't for the choking water he might have laughed again. But by the time the water vanished, Rigel was shivering, soaked to the bone and dripping slowly freezing water. The senshi--he was going to go out on a limb and assume she was the Senshi of Waterfalls, if not perhaps Death by Drowning--had fled, and Rigel gave a snort that turned into a sneeze. The music had faded, and logic dictated he needed to return home quickly to dry off and try to prevent freezing.
But at least... he had a new fun thing to try next time he found that senshi.
