They'd made plans to meet up again later in the week after wandering around the Christmas village when they both had some time free. Almandine seemed to want to spend as much time with him as he could and Arachne was perfectly alright with that all things considered. The more time the reindeer senshi was with him the less time someone else had the chance to hurt him or find out what was going on. The last thing he wanted was someone to ruin their plans. The two had agreed to meet up in a quieter part of town since their usual rooftop was getting to be a busy area with all the late night Christmas shoppers and neither of them wanted to get caught. So far they'd been talking idly about various things and just enjoying their time together. Arachne was ignoring the small package at his feet, having almost forgotten about it once they'd started talking. It seemed like that was how the night was going to go until the first flurries started to fall. It didn't quite seem like it should have been cold enough for snow but there it was clinging to their uniforms and hair. Reaching up Arachne brushed a bit of snow out of Almandine's hair. "Is it just me or does it look like we're both getting covered in glitter instead of snow?"

Almandine was rapidly growing more and more attached in a way that should have startled him, but felt oddly natural. He couldn't think past the feel of Arachne's warm mouth on his or the way his hand felt curled around his own, or the laughter in his eyes, the low cadence of his voice.
He was utterly taken with Arachne, and it was starting to show.
Almandine blinked at the snow around them, gaze refocusing on a few flakes on Arachne's shoulder. He reached out a hand, tentatively touching a piece.
"Is this - this isn't snow. What is this?"

He held out a hand and let some of the glittery substance fall into his palm. It still felt like snow and a few of the flakes started to melt. "I think ..it's acting like snow. I think it is snow." It seemed a little strange but given the things that happened in Destiny City overly glittery snow wasn't the strangest thing that could be happening. "Magic snow? He brushed the flakes off his hand but his coat was starting to glitter thanks to the flurries sticking to him. "Magic glitter snow. Which seems a bit too nice for DC." Not that he wanted to complain. He didn't want some stupid thing interrupting their 'date', least of all one of the random things that seemed to pop up around the holidays in DC.

Almandine was looking at the snow in Arachne's palm now, frowning at it. "It doesn't quite have the same consistency," he said musingly. There were sparkling little white droplets in Arachne's hair, which Almandine thought was strangely appealing. "It looks...well, as you said, like glitter."
It was bizarre, but not the most bizarre thing that had happened to them. Almandine was still lost in thought.
"Do you think it's dangerous?"

"Knowing Destiny city? Probably." Arachne laughed as he brushed a bit of the snow off his sleeve. "But I hope not considering we're both covered in it." He could come up with probably a hundred different ways the snow could try to kill them if he wanted. Oh but how nice it would be for it to just be weird looking snow? He watched a bit more settle in Almandine's hair before reaching up to run his fingers though it. "Maybe the cosmos is just being nice for once and giving us something fun?" Much nicer thought than the alternative. "Wonder if you can still make snowballs out of it." There would have to be more on the ground but throwing glittery snowballs at someone sounded like a brilliant idea. Probably not what was intended with the snow but imagining his friends covered in the stuff was a nice thought.

Almandine frowned a little. "If it's dangerous, then we should probably get out of it," he hedged - but it really was very pretty to look at, and there was something quite lovely about seeing the glittering, crystalline flakes speckle Arachne's hair and clothes.
His head tilted instinctively into the touch of fingers in his hair. "Should we try? I've never made a snowball before."

"Alma, it's Destiny City. Everything's dangerous." He grinned, laughing as he looked up towrad the clouds. "Kinda like Australia only with magic. Can't let a little danger keep us from having fun." Leaning over he brushed a kiss against Almandine's cheek before going to see if he could gather enough snow off the building ledge to make a snowball. It at least acted like regular snow even if it was far prettier. "Easy to make snowballs, i'll show you."

This was unfortunately true, but Arachne was right. Almandine watched Arachne lean over, gathering snow between his gloved palms, and stepped over beside him, automatically sliding a hand over to rest lightly on Arachne's waist as though it was only natural to want to keep touching him.
"You just gather it together then?"

"Yea, you just squish it into a ball." The snow didn't quite stick together as well as normal snow but after a moment he had a descent ball which he held up for Almandine to see. "Too bad we don't have other people to throw them at." The glittery snow would make a snowball fight more interesting but he didn't think giving any of his friends a call would be for the best. It was supposed to be a date afterall. "Works the same for making snowmen too actually."

Almandine rolled a ball of snow between his palms, grateful for the gloves. He contemplated the one in Arachne's hand, probably with more seriousness and thought than a snowball actually needed, but Almandine was nothing if not thorough and did everything with the same amount of careful consideration regardless of what it was.
"We don't?" he asked, and then threw his own snowball at Arachne's chest.

"Hey now." Arachne laughed as the snowball hit him, glad it did land on the rather sturdy waist cincher he had on, and dusted some of the snow off. "That's friendly fire but if you want to play that way...." He hadn't packed his snowball all that much so he didn't feel too bad throwing it at Almandine in retaliation.

He'd never allowed himself to let go like this, to simply enjoy himself in a silly game. Almandine let out a small sound as Arachne threw a snowball back at him, snow spreading across his chest, cold seeping through his uniform. He reached out and gathered another handful of his own, patting it together, and tossed it at Arachne, cheeks starting to flush with enjoyment.
"I'm not playing," he said, a little breathlessly, but there was a glitter of happiness in his eyes, rarely seen.

"Oh? Think you can win a snowball war then?" Arachne grinned, teasing tone in his voice as he tried to bat the snowball away, mostly ending up getting it all over his arm. "I was snowball champion on my neighborhood when I was a kid you know." He hadn't done anything like this since his first year in collage. Snowball fights weren't something the 'rich kids' did. Which was silly given how fun it was. Balling up another handful of snow he threw it at Almandine again.

He had no idea what snowball champion even referred to, but it sounded amusing. Almandine felt a sense of distinct playfulness wash over him in a way that was simultaneously unfamiliar and thrilling and a little unnerving, but Arachne made it easier.
Snow exploded across his arm as he lifted it to block his face, Almandine reaching for another handful.
"Well, I'm sure I can win, I'm quite smart," he said objectively, this time aiming for Arachne's shoulder.

"I don't know ..." Arachne ducked a bit as the snowball hit him, getting a bit of it in his hair which he shook out with a laugh. Seeing Almandine playful and enjoying himself felt wonderful and he wanted to see more of it. Smirking Aracne ignored the snow for a moment and closed the gap between them, wrapping his arms around Almandine's waist. "You might be smart but I'm willing to cheat." Giving Almandine a smirk he pressed their lips together in a light kiss.
