Quote: This time of year, snow is common. What’s uncommon is the single, strange snowfall that glistened like tiny diamonds. Everything about the snow seemed normal—it’s cold, wet, and melts just like any other snow, it just also happens to look like tiny little gems are falling from the sky. Depending on who you’re with, it’s either incredibly strange, or incredibly romantic.

Lace, after meeting Wendell, had thought order cats were kind of okay! Though she didn't have many friends along the order side besides Adria (she really needed to touch in with him again! She was worried about the sunset senshi!), Wendell would be another one!
As such, she had actually gone back to the park to find him and give him a christmas gift (It was her first christmas as a mau and he deserved nice things and thats what christmas was about right?) so she had small little coins and jewelry for him.
However, the snow was piling up and she was having a hard time bouncing in foot prints made by others to get to the park where she asked Wendell to meet her.

Wendell was, suffice it to say, thrilled at the prospect of meeting his New Friend Lace and especially being able to be around a new cat. He didn't have very many cat friends as it was, but he had a lot of senshi friends, and he had a lot of everyone friends, and basically he was delighted to be able to talk to another cat.
He found her half buried - literally - in the snow.
"Lace! Hello, milady, how are you this fine day?"

Lace's head peaked out of white snow, shaking what was left on it before she looked at the other cat.
"Hello Wendell!" She rubbed at her head and was surprised to feel that the snow felt well...."I have a gift for you!" She cried from her spot though, and thenstarted bouncing closer to him.
"Ju...Just....Just give me a second...." She huffed as she came closer. "This...this snow....It's so hard....."

Wendell bounded towards Lace, landing with a thump in the heaping snow beside her and leaving a cat shaped impression in it. He reached out a paw and tried to drag the kitten back up to breathing space above the drifts, beaming brightly at her.
"A gift for me?" Well, this was both a delight and a surprise. "This is literally the best thing I have ever heard today. Are you stuck? Do you require rescuing, my lady?"

Lace tried to paw her way around the snow to open herself up but it just kept crashing in around her. "A...A gift for you!" She looked up from her spot....
"Can...Can you help me?" She looked up at the older cat.
"And....and then your gift!"

Wendell gave a gasp.
"Of course I may help you!" he said, shuffling through the heavy drifts of snow to try and get to her. It kept sinking around him, his paws disappearing into the drifts, but he finally managed to reach Lace after a few minutes of valiantly struggling. Wendell bent his head and nipped the back of her poofy collar before taking firm grasp to lift her up and bodily carry her to a place of lesser snow. He plunked her down and began patting snow from her head with a paw.
"There, there. You're quite safe now, milady. How did you get this far? It's quite impressive with your small stature!"

Lace blinked as she was picked up, and carted off, her legs hanging limply in the air until Wendell set her down. Then he was brushing her off and making her all clean. She shook and shivered for a second (being a small kitten body was hard) and then looked at him.
"Jumping!" She pounced in the small pounces before sitting and looking at him.
"Your gift!" Although she was a bit distracted by the snow because it looked like it was glittering. Glittering A LOT.
"Does snow always look like this?" After all this was Lace's first year being awake with 'snow'.

He made sure to get all of the snow off of her, but it wasn't exactly snow. It looked suspiciously like treasure to Wendell's untrained eye - or rather, his trained eye, because he was pretty certain that he knew what treasure was, being an experienced piratical cat and all.
"My gift!" said Wendell brightly, but like Lace, he was still distracted by the snow.
"I don't believe so, my fair maiden. This looks more like buried treasure, the kind that those rogues and scoundrels take as their booty! I wonder if something is being shaken down from the sky to make us think that it's snow, to confuse us!"
He hoped around, tail upright and alert, Wendell staring around at the sky.
"Do you see anything suspicious?"

Lace only liked shiny things so Wendell having the eye for these things was important! She had never seen snow but she was surprised it was so shiny! It looked like the...diamonds? She had seen in fancy shops.
"Your gift!" The kitten exclaimed back and then did a circle for subspace to appear. The small rift earn her jumping halfway in and reaching around until she grabbed the bag and dragging it out with her mouth.
"Here you go!" Inside the bag, if he opened it was a combination of regular shiny quarters and some foreign coins in a faded gold as well as CHOCOLATE gold coins.
"What are....Rogues and Scoundrels? Why are they taking booty?" She had heard Jericho say booty once, but she was pretty sure he was talking about 'nice' booty? Was that Wendell was talking about?
"Why are they confusing us!?!?" Lace looked up and stared up at the sky as well. "Ummm....." She waited, "Oh whats that?" She pointed up but it was just a bird....she thought?

He was utterly delighted by the fact that Lace had taken the time to get him a gift - and then, on the heels of this, utterly aghast at himself for not getting her something in return, a look of abject horror dawning on Wendell's face as Lace bounded over to him again.
"A pocket in space!" he said, momentarily distracted by this, and then stared happily at the bag in front of him, the horror that had turned into curiosity now turning to sheer happiness. Gold coins in foil wrappers spilled out in front of him in their little baggy, glittering silver alongside.
"TREASURE!" Wendell yelped, and scooped up the bag, shaking it. It made a pleasing sort of chinking sound, and he dropped again, pouncing over to Lace so that he could squash her in a hug, paws wrapping around her smaller frame, Wendell burying his face into the giant fluff at her neck. "This is the best gift ever, thank you my lady, this is quite the best gift ever."
He let go and stepped back, sitting down in the snow to tilt his head up at the sky and its suspiciously glittery snow again. "Rogues and scoundrels are the ones who try and defeat us, but I won't let that happen! I will protect you, milady, have no fea - oh, yes, that might be a bird but it also might be a PIRATE!"
He dragged his bag of goodies to himself, just in case.

Lace had never been hugged by another cat....she had been bothered by Silk and she had stuck close to Bob but never had she been HUGGED. The small kitten almost rolled away out of habit, but he was bigger and had her all bundled up in a hug with him.
Unsure what to do, and blushing like crazy, she patted his back. "You...You're welcome." And since Wendell had gone back to retrieving his treasure, she fluffed herself again and tried to hide...er...the pink? If you could see it.
"OH!!?!?" She also looked up, and at his claim of a pirate...moved closer to the bigger cat.
"Pirates are bad....right?!?!"

Wendell was very much a hugger - or rather, Wendell was very much a cat who enjoyed being around other cats, or other people, or really just anyone at all in the world, because everyone was great, and they were all going to be his friends eventually, so why not hug?
His head snapped around to stare at her, paws still holding his newest treasure. "Not at all!" Wendell said, sounding aghast. "That is to say, some pirates can be bad, but not all of them will be! There are those that like to sail the seas and rampage and pillage and plunder, but those are the very worst sort of pirates! I am but the best sort, the one who takes care of the rest! I will protect and serve!"
He beamed at Lace. "Does that help at all, milady?"

Lace waited.
"Do you think I am a bad pirate?" The kitten turned to look at the older cat.
"C..cause I am....a corrupted cat?"

Wendell stared at Lace in abject horror.
"No!" he said, sounding aghast at the very thought. "You are an excellent pirate! Corrupted cats don't immediately equal terrible cats, you are a most wonderful creature and you should be very proud of yourself, because I am proud of you and that means you are great!"
